Online story: "Oscar Pistorius, the double-amputee Olympic runner who fatally shot his girlfriend in 2013, was released from prison and placed under house arrest on Monday night, a South African official said." -- Good grief... Pissed-all-over-us served less than a year in prison...what are they going to do.. put a monitor anklet on all of his removable prostheses?

---
Online story: " Democrats on the House committee investigating the deadly attacks in Benghazi, Libya, issued a report Monday disputing what they say are unsubstantiated claims about former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton by some Republican members of Congress and GOP presidential candidates." -- "disputing what they say are unsubstantiated claims about the former Secretary of State"? Which one... that HILLsbury DOUGHgirl worked for the US rather than herself?

---
Online story: m"An anonymous hacker claims to have breached CIA Director John Brennan's personal email account and has posted documents online, including a list of email addresses purportedly from Brennan's contact file. * The CIA said it referred the matter to the proper authorities, but would not comment further." -- "referred the matter to the proper authorities"? There are proper authorities higher than the CIA... wait a minute.. there are PROPER authorities in the spy business!

Online headline/story: "Obama administration backs bill to reduce prison time * It would eliminate mandatory life sentences for three-time, nonviolent drug offenders, reducing those minimum sentences to 25 years.
The aims of the bill are to make the sentencing system fairer, reduce recidivism and contain rising prison costs." -- "reduce recidivism"? How will putting a 3-time drug dealer back on the street reduce recidivism?

---
Online headline/story: "Canadian Liberals win landslide majority in election, unseat Conservative government * the Liberals won 184 seats. The Conservatives were a distant second with 99 seats, while the left-wing New Democratic Party placed third with 44 seats. * "We beat fear with hope," Justin Trudeau said in his victory speech to supporters in Montreal early Tuesday. "We beat cynicism with hard work. We beat negative, divisive politics with a positive vision that brings Canadians together. Most of all we defeated the idea that Canadians should be satisfied with less." *  Trudeau promises to raise taxes on the rich and run deficits for three years to boost government spending" -- "promises to raise taxes on the rich and run deficits for 3 years"? Good grief.. sounds like the US poltical playbook of Bernie & HILLsbury DOUGHgirl on steroids...besides.. the top 25 Billionaires in Canada (based on Canadian dollars) combined have less than just Gates and Buffett.. so who are they going to raise taxes on?

A Washington School system odered a football coach not to pray after a football game.. on what basis.. that he was praising God? Good grief.. it's not like he was asking for unfair outside help before the game was over. Even more beautiful was that the opposing coach and some of his school's fans joined the coach as well. How do people who challenge the US Constitution's Amendments get put in charge of educating our future leaders?

---
L-E headline/story: "Muscogee County School Board split vote supports putting property tax freeze thaw proposal on ballot * Although the school board isn't required to vote on whether the proposal should become a referendum, Tomlinson has said the legislative delegation prefers a local consensus from the governing bodies before taking such a request to the state capitol." -- "isn't required to vote on whether the proposal should be a freferendum?..."a local consensus of the governing bodies"? How about being more accurate, L-E, these are the two groups that have taxing authority endowed by the citizens and the property owners have already spoken twice on the issue. PS -  With all the ills within our school system, why did the MCSB waste so much time on a non-school issue/discussion?

L-E story: "While media has focused on the demands of the rebel group to weaken the House leadership still further, it has missed a crucial piece of breaking news. Rep. Daniel Webster of Florida, the candidate for House Speaker endorsed by the rebel faction, has just seen his congressional district cut out from under him by a Florida court ruling against Republican gerrymandering. * Gerrymandering? Mention it and most of the current generation of political reporters roll their eyes, dismissing it as an age-old and therefore irrelevant political malady." -- "Republican gerrymandering"? Whoa.. let's go back 15 years to what the Democrats in GA tried to do following the 2000 Census.. Democrats carved out three districts with "arms" that incorporated minority majority areas of cities with nothing in common to create "super minority districts" that would guarantee Democrat representatives. Fortunately, the courts threw this out.. In effect, what the Democrats basically did was attempt to revise the "reservation system" that worked so well for the Indians...

ou know.. what the once-a-week garbage pick-up has done is basically stolen "long weekends" from citizens in north Columbus...think about it.. with Monday & Thursday pick-ups, north Columbus citizens could put out there trash on Thursday then take off on that afternoon after the cans were emptied, and stay through Monday and not worry about stinky garbage being left in their garages. Now, with Monday only pick-up, going off on a long weekend means garbage put in the garage sits until the second Monday.  (hey.. I'm not talking about government holidays when garbage pick-up days are altered)

Jonathan Gruber triple-quadruple extra stupid with a jalepeno pepper on top LIV's L-E "soundoff": " To Councilors Allen, Thomas and Huff: You may try to keep us from voting on the tax freeze, but we still get to vote on you." -- First, you're not getting to vote "on" the tax freeze, you'd be voting to raise your taxes.. secondly, regardless of the outcome, voters in on these Councilors districts wanted their representatives to preserve the freeze.. thirdly, this person probably works for Mayor ObamaLYINGson anyway..

---
Online headline: "Illegal immigrants ask Georgia Supreme Court for right to sue over denial of in-state tuition " -- Good grief.. how does any court in our nation give any "standing"  to a non-citizen over something that is reserved to the American citizens of our state?

---
Online story: "The state’s first-ever presidential “Peanut Poll,” a straw vote being conducted at the annual Georgia National Fair in Perry, has become the largest straw poll in America, Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp announced Friday." -- good grief.. just what Georgia needs .. fodder for the mainscream media to refer to Georgians as the "goober vote".. let's just pray that not only was this the first such "vote", but the LAST as well.

---
Online story: "The Georgia Lottery Corp. doesn’t typically trot out its quarterly numbers. * But the first quarter of fiscal 2016 was so strong lottery officials couldn’t resist. * The lottery brought in a record $253.9 million in profits for education during July, August and September, surpassing last year’s first-quarter transfer to the HOPE Scholarship and pre-kindergarten programs by nearly $26 million, the lottery announced Friday.
 * “Our fiscal year is off to a strong start,” lottery President and CEO Debbie Alfordsaid. “It is rewarding to know that Georgians support our products and lottery-funded educational programs.” -- Good grief.. if it's a record setting profit, it's only because the GA Lottery has cut back on HOPE Scholarship distributions.. now we have to wait for "the other shoe to drop".. you know the one where the GA Lottery announces pay raises and bonuses for the executives...

L-E story: " WASHINGTON — A U.S. ambassador in a dangerous country asks the State Department for more security. Washington sends the ambassador a request for advice on talking points. *  Rep. Trey Gowdy, the chairman of a panel investigating the terrorist attacks in Benghazi, Libya, in 2012 is describing ambassador Chris Stevens’ pleas, and Washington’s response, as a “total disconnect” that left the U.S. consulate vulnerable to attack. “He didn’t need help with (public relations), and he was asking for more security,” Gowdy said on CBS’ “Face the Nation.” -- " he was asking for more security"? Hey HILLsbury DOUGHgirl... THAT'S THE DIFFERENCE!

---
L-E's "Quotable" feature: "Ethics is knowing the difference between what you have a right to do and what is the right thing to do." - Potter Stewart, American jurist (1915-1985)" -- Hmmm another of the adages available that will not grace the walls of HILLsbury DOUGHgirl's or DNC's offices.

---
L-E editorial comment headline: "Cigarette tax is about revenue, not public health" -- Good grief.. Donald Trump has opened the eyes of even the editorial staff at the L-E...after all the taxes  issued on cigarettes over the years that were "earmarked" for health programs, the L-E finally notices the oxymoronic nature of them.

L-E story: " More than a dozen years ago, the newspaper went into Muscogee County Superior Court asking for records related to the shooting death of Kenneth Walker by a Muscogee County Sheriff’s deputy. *   It was tense. The newspaper wanted the records; the sheriff’s office, in my opinion, was being less than forthcoming. *  After it was over, one of the deputies, Randy Robertson, and I exchanged words in the hallway of the Government Center basement. It got heated, to the point I thought he was about to throw a punch. I wasn’t backing down, but if he ever hit me, he would have crushed me. *  Cooler heads prevailed. I remember one of the deputies saying something like, “It’s not worth losing your job for hitting a reporter." -- Hmmm.. "It’s not worth losing your job for hitting a reporter"? Looks like Chuck really set himself up on this one.. it seems his status changed over the years..and Randy has been steadfast.

L-E story: "CBS has refused to run advertising for “Truth,” the film starring Cate Blanchett and Robert Redford that revisits a painful episode in the network’s past involving a discredited 2004 news story on former President George W. Bush’s military service record. *  CBS has denounced the movie, which opens Friday, as a disservice to the public and journalists." -- LOL! CBS... worried about "Truth"? When has it ever been worried about "Truth".. especially in reporting it as news.. The reality is that Redford will probably have an "alternative ending" anyway, so it should be renamed "Truth... as CBS Sees It". Oh,, relax CBS.. the movie is about "Truth"..not "The Truth"...
