Saturday, I posted a picture of a "NO Texting Zone" sign at a local elementary school. You  know, after thinking about it, maybe the MCSB should rethink this.. with close to 20% of our schools "failing", perhaps the students should all be given cellphones and teachers can do their lessons via texting.. all the kids seem more interested in texting and interacting versus reading books anyway..

We just over built the new recycling center, and have downgraded glass to trash rather than recyclable, and there is a downtrend in companies even buying recycled materials, so in the end, this stuff is going into our landfills anyway.. so why is Council being asked to spend more good money on additional equipment.. does someone in the City government have a brother-in-law who makes trailers?

Twenty-four vehicles will be used by staff of the Columbus Police Department. One vehicle will be used by the Muscogee County Prison." -- A pursuit vehicle for the County Prison? Wouldn't a new bloodhound and shotgun be more effective and cheaper?

From above Council Agenda: "Emergency Medical Supplies — Provide various emergency medical supplies on an “as needed basis” to include: airway supplies, intravenous supplies, oxygen delivery supplies, bandages, exposure control supplies, exam gloves and other miscellaneous items on an “as needed basis.” The contract term will be for two years with the option to renew for three additional 12-month periods." -- And what department are these going to be the responsibility of storing/using? Now, has anyone checked to see if there are some unused "emergency supplies" that we already have stored somewhere?

From the "where's the savings" department: Does anyone know what the garbage pickup for the City is now that two pickups have been eliminated? Yesterday, while going to church, we saw an "in use" garbage truck speeding down River Rd. We followed it until it turned and went into the Wilson Homes complex. Why, since two days in the week were freed up by eliminating residential pickups, are City garbage trucks operating on Sundays, and who is paying for the garbage pickups in a federal housing project? Are the residents subject to the same fees as other Columbus taxpayers?
