From above story: "she told NBC's "Today" show that if she were president, she would have "done everything" in her power to shut down such a partisan investigation." -- Hmmm.. sorta like Nixon and Watergate, Bill and Monica et al.. oh.. and HiILLsbury DOUGHgirl and Whiewater/Rose Law Firm files?
---
From the "only in California" department - Online story: "California will become the fifth state to allow terminally ill patients to legally end their lives using doctor-prescribed drugs after Gov. Jerry Brown announced Monday he signed one of the most emotionally charged bills of the year. Online counter story:
"On July 16, 2014, federal judge Cormac J. Carney of the United States District Court ruled that California's death penalty system is unconstitutional because it is arbitrary and plagued with delay. The state has not executed a prisoner since 2006." -- Good grief.. ordinary citizens are qualified to decide to take their own lives, but aren't qualified to decide the fate of heinous criminals?
---
Random thought: How is it that Louis Farakhan's "Nation of Islam" is not in today's limelight? At best it is a terrorist organization.
---
Online headline: "Democratic Senators: 'We Can And Must Do More' For Syrian Refugees" -- Hmmm..wish someone would post this at every VA and Entitlement office in the country so those already in need would see the Democrats want to cut into the already sparse reserves of existing funds.
---
What's the first thing that pops into your mind when you see the Burger King "Black Whopper"? Mine is an in=mage of Obamageddon making a speech.
---
Online story: "Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton on
Monday proposed tighter gun-control measures, including expanded background
checks, and suggested that if elected she would use executive powers to achieve
her goals." -- " use executive powers to achieve her goals"? Good grief.. though
Democrats try, no president has the power to repeal a Constitutional Amendment,
and Congress and the US Supreme Court should use their powers to remove such a
person from office... it's literally treasonous.
---
Online story: "Patriotic teenagers in Jackson Hole, Wyoming showed up to
class Wednesday waving American flags in defiance of educators who canceled
“America Day” over fears it might upset students who don’t consider themselves
to be American." -- Good grief.. what an education fail!
---
Biden just called the Republican candidates "homophobic".. not one ,
but most of them...guess between Biden, Clinton, and Sanders, the Republicans
could label all the Democrats as post-menstrual.
---
Why are people concerned about whether or not Trump is in for the long
haul? He's leading every Republican poll..shouldn't mainscream media be asking
the lower echelon candidates when they will pull the cord?
---
Where's Algore? If Charleston, SC was in Louisiana, he'd be out claiming
climate change and blaming Bush.
---
Speaking of Charleston, SC.. where's Obamageddon as well?

L-E story: " Last year, it cost the city about $425,000 over the revenue
the courses generated to keep Bull Creek and Oxbow Meadows operational. The bulk
of that — $250,000 — was spent at Oxbow." -- You know.. if the golf course were
mandated to provide a profitable margin.. even a "break even" one, the savings
would exceed what is being gained by dropping garbage pick ups to once a week.
---
L-E story: "The competition pool at the Columbus Aquatic Center has been
closed due to a malfunctioning pump and will remain closed until it can be
repaired, according to Holli Browder, assistant director Parks and Recreation. *
The therapeutic pool and the rest of the facility will remain open and available
for use, Browder said." -- Good grief! Just close it down altogether until it is
100% operational! Even tough revenues collected don't justify it being open
anyway, when it's not able to charge fees for use, then it is nothing but a
money pit!
---
L-E story: "Uptown Columbus Inc., a downtown nonprofit organization, held a
meeting to discuss the parking issues and about 40 merchants and property owners
for businesses on Broadway, First Avenue and 12th Street attended. * “This is a
different downtown and different customer base than it was 30 years ago,” Nelms
said." -- Here's a compromise.. make parking meters to be used only after 6:00
PM .. It will eliminate college students from parking on the streets overnight,
and patrons from camping out all night on bar stools. Ought to increase the
restaurant table turnover as well.
Yes, this is absurd as reinstalling parking meters to begin with.. The
merchants lost 107 parking places when Broadway was remodeled..the City siad
that those places would be regained by the Front Avenue garage, but the City nor
CSU do not monitor the use of those spaces being infringed on by CSU students
and faculty.. even though there are 3 floors of spaces accessible only by CSU
students/faculty provided.

Jonathan Gruber excessively thin-skinned and stupid LIV's L-E "soundoff":
"The Bill Clinton cartoon in the Monday, Oct. 5 edition was classless! If the
paper was looking for that “jump out and shock” factor, come back up on the high
road, fellas, and try, try again." -- "classless"? Well, that made it accurate
and "spot on"!
---
L-E editorial: "We’ve all heard and read arguments for and against Mayor
Teresa Tomlin-son’s plan for phasing out the Columbus property tax assessment
freeze. * What we haven’t heard is a convincing argument for why Columbus
voters shouldn’t be allowed to make that decision. What we’ve heard recently is
that some members of Columbus Council haven’t yet made up their minds. About
what? The freeze has been a contentious and controversial issue for the more
than three decades it’s been in effect. Letting the voters reassess it now
shouldn’t be." -- "the freeze has been contentious? Whoa.. voters have already
spoken ..twice.. the only contentious people are the politicians who want to
raise taxes rather than operate efficiently within the revenue flow.
On the chance it should be back on the ballot, I could go along with it if
only property owners are allowed to vote on it.
---
L-E story: " Coming off a three-day whirlwind tour of Nashville, several
Columbus leaders say among the most important lessons they learned were the
power of effective planning and establishing a city’s brand. * In the 1990s,
Nashville leaders banded together and decided to do something about the city’s
decaying center and lack of growth. Since then, a series of five-year plans has
resuscitated the city into one of the nation’s most vibrant, focusing on its
brand as “Music City.” The city’s leadership is currently early on in its sixth
five-year plan, and the results are palpable, visitors say * Tomlinson said her
sister lived in Nashville in the 1990s and it was a “do-nothing town” with most
of the challenges larger cities face." -- Hmm .. obviously Nashville grew after
Mayor TomLYINGson's sister left Nashville.. maybe Columbus would grow better if
we were TomLYINGson free...

One online news source said HILLsbury DOUGHgirl :choked up discussing "gun
control".. and her audience responded favorably.. I guess so.. look at her
hand-selected audience.. You know, if politicians really wanted to do something
about gun crimes, they work hard at clearing obstacles for the prompt
enforcement of death sentences for gun related crimes.
