A fellow BCer has hit the nail on the head: Mayor ObamaLYINGson feels  "We are smart enough to parse the benefits of the "Freeze" and vote on the merits so why weren't we allowed to vote on the tax increase aka once weekly garbage pickup?" Call your state reps and tell'em "No" on a ballot initiative.. It's an issue of the people and by the people ..for the people.. and it works fine.

In the last 10 days, the prisoner count at the Muscogee County jail has grown by 44 net..there are currently 1089 prisoners in jail..wonder if Mayor ObamaLYINGson wants to cut the Sheriff's budget some more? Maybe she wants them to not eat while they are incarcerated?

A friend and fellow BCer reminded me that Mayor ObamaLYINGson campaigned (correctly, I might add) against the T- SPLOST but she sure seems anxious to get her picture taken when checks are returned (in spite of the negative return of the T-SPLOST tax revenues we local taxpayers have to pay).

Our Mayor/Council do this in so many ways.. from "grants" from the Public Safety SPLOST funds, charging City owned facility fees that don't cover costs, to sending public employees to clean up private proerty (recent Beallwood-area  rental properties is a good example). It's all "vote buying"!

Jonathan Gruber incredibly stupid LIV's L-E "soundoff": "The reason why your garbage fee doubled is because your property tax has been frozen while everything else under the sun has increased in cost. Do the math." -- Good grief.. if I didn't know better, I'd think Mayor ObamaLYINGson has Gruber on her staff.. The reason our garbage fees (and I still question the legality of garbage fees, as a city must provide garbage services along with police and fire protection which should be paid for by the property taxes we pay) are high is because facilities provided by the city for entertainment are not pulling enough revenue from the users. Taxpayers supplement the golf courses, the ice rinks, the Civic Center, the natatorium, Golden Park, Memorial Stadium, the softball complex, Columbus Regional, Whitewater, the Queen TT Lounge, the dog walk, the bicycle trail, recycling center,even MCSD SPLOST election..et al.

American WORKERS/Employers pay into a retirement fund  that is not added to by government.. the only issues to the solvency is that government has tapped other programs to be funded by other people's saving accounts, and by not letting the "owners" (you and me) put our money in investment accounts.
