John Wooden quotes: “Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are.” “The true test of a man's character is what he does when no one is watching."  --  Trump won the debate last night.. I didn't watch it.. didn't need to do so..but any of the candidates that made snide remarks about Trump, basically revealed their own lack of character.. lashing out or kicking when their target was not in the room because he was making a stand for what he felt was the right thing to do.

G.I JILLary loves to talk about being in "the situation room" and helping the president in crisis situations.. although she loves to talk about Osama bib Laden.. Benghazi... not so much.. but what about  when she was married to the president in the 1990s.. what does she say about the situations in Waco, or when Osama bin Laden's capture/death opportunity that hubby Bill rejected, or the first bombing of the World Trade Center, or his decision for "Don't Ask, Don't Tell", or the "Battle of Mogadishu", or NAFTA, or selling China out top secret ICBM data, or when Bill vetoed a partial-birth-abortion law, or sending in missiles into a civilian owned aspirin factory on Sudan, or looting the White House as she left?

Remember  how boastful Slick Willie is about "balancing the budget" while in office,,, well, the truth is: "Beginning in 1995, President Clinton and the Republican-controlled Congress, led by Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich (R-GA), engage in a political death struggle over how to balance the budget by 2002. Failure to reach an agreement leads to the shut-down of certain parts of the federal government, furloughing more than a quarter of a million government workers."  -- Well the truth is that Newt Gingrich was responsible for getting the House to pass a balanced budget, and Clinton signed it.

Business Insider has ranked all the candidates chances to win the White House.. Rick Santorum is ranked last.. even Martin O'Malley is ranked above him,, Go home Rick..

---
From above story: As predictable, Business Insider ranks G.I. JILLary to have the White House after the November Election.. Trump seoond.. but surprisingly Gool Ole Socialist Bernie comes in 6th,, ahead of all the Republicans save Trump, Cruz, Rubio, and Bush. You know, I may have to vote in the Democrat Primary.. and vote for Bernie.. if all this hoopla is leading to another Socialist sitting in the White House, I'd rather it be the honest one...Bernie would wake up everyone to what the Democray Party is dedicated to.. the collapse of the US..

Was glad to see 5 arrests being made concerning that California jail escape.. unfortunately, none arrested were the three that actually escaped.

---
Online headline: "NBA announces Sting will headline 2016 All-Star Game halftime show" -- How appropriate.. the NBA must have taken Jada Pinkett Smith's diversity rants seriously, and invited an old white guy to sing...

---
Online headline: "The CIA just declassified its real-life X-Files on UFOs" -- Hmmm.. guess the CIA figured G.I. JILLary had them on her personal server and wanted to breal]=k the news before Russia or Chine did so.

---
Online headline: "Leonardo DiCaprio gives Pope Francis a special present" -- a shot?

---
From the "how out of touch with reality can government get" department - Online headline: "Flint faces hefty new obstacle amid water debacle" -- Hmmm. my guess would have been how Flint was going to replace all those lead-lined water pipes that should have been replaced a century ago.. but I was wrong.. now Flint doesn't know how it's going to get rid of all the plastic water bottles that have been brought in and thrown onto the rstreets.. Hey, how about calling our Mayor TomLYINGson.. she's built a Recycle Center so large that Columbus will never out grow it!

---
Oh, Bernie Sanders' doctor says Bernie's health is "very good, over all" -- Hmmm guess that's good considering he'll get older in the next few years and if either his or G.I. JILLary's healthcare programs get installed, he's gonna need his "good health" to survive either hos or her term in office.

---
HuffPOOPOO headline: "Determined Lizards Duel In The Middle Of A Busy Road" -- Oooops, my bad.. thought maybe Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi ran into each other crossing the street.

---
HuffPOOPOO headline/story: "Protests Over Police Shooting Could Disrupt Super Bowl Opening * A fatal shooting by San Francisco police is threatening to grab the national spotlight during Super Bowl festivities.  * Mayor Ed Lee has spent all of his energy pushing out the homeless, disabling bus lines and creating traffic jams so that his precious Super Bowl City can inconvenience the city of San Francisco for two weeks," the Justice 4 Mario Woods Coalition wrote on Facebook." -- Hmmm.. So the mayor of San Francisco, of all places, has been intolerant of people unlike himself.. Hey, Jada Pinkett Smith.. how about some diversity rants aimed at San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee!

L-E editorial headline/content: "Garbage fleet problems now at 'critical mass' *  It's been obvious for some time that the apparently perpetual debate over the cost of garbage service in Columbus would not end with pick-up schedules.  * It's even more obvious now." --  Good grief...what we were told is that going to once-a-week-pickups would mean less road time/more maintenance time for the trucks, but.it appears that the trucks are still rolling 4 days a week. In other words, no change except for only one pickup for us.

---
Instant repeat - L-E editorial headline/content: "Garbage fleet problems now at 'critical mass' *  It's been obvious for some time that the apparently perpetual debate over the cost of garbage service in Columbus would not end with pick-up schedules.  * It's even more obvious now." -- You know, Mayor TomLYINGson built a new Recycle Center that far exceeds the current and future needs of Columbus (and that was compounded by "glass" no longer being a recyclable revenue generator)., and the garbage trucks rot...

L-E story: "The Columbus metropolitan area unemployment rate rose to 6.4 percent in December, the Georgia Department of Labor reported Thursday, joining Albany with the highest jobless figure in the state.
 * The December rate was up from 6.3 percent in November and is still better than the 7 percent the Columbus metro area had in December 2014.  * “Most of that was due to temporary layoffs in the manufacturing sector, so most of those individuals have already gone back to work” in January, said Georgia Labor Commissioner Mark Butler."  -- Gimmee a break.. anytime unemployment rise in December shows a very weak economy and bleak future for the area, and the layoffs from Christmas Holiday jobs will offset any return workers to manufacturing layoffs. By the way, what "manufacturing" jobs is he referring to, did we get some more mills back?

---
On Wednesday, business and political leaders got an economic update for our city at CSU. Why hasn't the L-E written a story about it?...You know why...the L-E is such a disappointment for Columbus., and the truth would make Trump more popular in Columbus.

L-E story: " DETROIT — The Detroit teachers’ union has filed a lawsuit against the district calling for repairing “deplorable” conditions and removing the state-appointed emergency manager.  * The Detroit Federation of Teachers’ suit filed Thursday in Wayne County Circuit Court seeks “an appropriately funded capital plan” to fix districtwide problems. It calls for removing Emergency Manager Darnell Earley and returning to local control."-- "returning to local control"? Isn't that why the conditions have gotten so bad in the first place? Now, what have the teachers done to help out? Have they offered to take salary cuts "for the kids" in order to make more money available for repairs/maintenance?  Have they organized themselves and parents to have "clean up work days"? You know the answer as well as I do...

L-E headline/story: "Inquiry: Concert ticket sales are a ‘fixed game’ * By MICHAEL VIRTANEN *  Associated Press *  ALBANY, N.Y. — Had a hard time getting a ticket to a concert or sporting event? New York’s attorney general says that’s probably because more than half of tickets to many events are held for industry insiders or otherwise unavailable to the general public." -- Well, I don't know for sure about Albany, NY, but we even have more prime tickets held out here in Columbus. I think the number is 34.. which are taken by the CivicCenter manager to distribute to Council and other City employees... for free.. I hope I do not see any City employees sitting closer to the stage than my bride and I at the Elton John Concert in March.

L-E story: " The 56 nominees to be the Muscogee County School District 2016 Teacher of the Year were announced Thursday at the RiverCenter for the Performing Arts. * Kinetic Credit Union President and CEO Janet Davis, chairwoman of the Muscogee Educational Excellence Foundation, which conducts the district’s Teacher of the Year program, said in a news release, “The dedication and commitment of these outstanding teachers is the very foundation of our educational system. * These teachers have made a significant impact in student learning and achievement, and we are honored to recognize them as Teacher of the Year honorees.” -- Amen! Praise be for the teachers even considered for the nominations, though I think the Muscogee Educational Excellence Foundation left out an extremely valuable aspect of our children's learning experiences.. there is no nomination for the MCSB District "Representative of the Year" .. I nominate John Thomas and Frank Myers, and split my vote equally!

Did you see the announcement of the Middle School Spelling Bee Champion.. Congratulations to a fine student named Dominic Valenzuela from private St,Anne-Pacelli School. He won by spelling "aspirin" It's pretty easy to see why a public school student didn't have a chance.. looking at test scores, I figure the students haven't been introduced to words over 5 letters long.

Did you see the list of burglaries .. 20 I think, that have been associated with a couple of criminals the CPD is trying to find.. Three of those happened within a block of Mobley Road.. I wonder how many speeding ticket were being issued on Mobley Road while the burglaries were going on "next door"?

Please offer a prayer for one of our City Councilors.. our Mayor-Pro-Tem Evelyn Turner-Pugh for the loss of her brother.

Saw an ad the L-E is running trying to find a person as "Audience Development Manager".. almost spewed coffee out my nose.. good grief, if the L-E wants more subscribers, all it has to do is reporting the true tacts and conditions within our City Government and the MCSD. Political Correctness has been a complete failure!
