Not only is coal an important source of energy in many states as well as a major job producing industry, it is one of the few industries we have that  has a positive effect on out world trade imbalance and dollar stability.My guess is that by stifling coal or three years, NERO-bamageddon is manipulating the elections to insure a Republican wins the presidency and has a miserable economy his/her first two year in office so that voters may elect a majority of Democrats in the 2018 Congressional Races and get Pelosi back in as House Speaker and Reid back in charge of the Senate.

From the "things you learn by accident "department : With all the interest in Powerball the last week or so, I learned two interesting changes that have occurred in the lotteries since they began.. Of course, the odds are astronomical with picking 6 numbers, but, the lottery has increased the odds exponentially over the years.. At one time, the lottery numbers were chosen from groups of 49 numbers... now that number is 69 per group PLUS you have to hit another number from a group of 26. So odds have increased form a 1-in-10,000,000 chance to 1-in-292,000,000. In addition, the government and the lottery is taking more out of the "winnings" than before. The "prize money" used to be based on a 20 year annuity which made the annual payout 1/20th of the advertised amount if you didn't take the "one-time" option.. now the annuity is based on 29 years which reduces the "annual" payout from $50,000.00 per million "won" to less that $35,000.00 annually per million "won". That, in turn lowers the "one time lump sum payment" by the same ratio.

L-E headline/story: "Road closures could affect traffic in north Columbus  * The eastbound lane of Double Churches Road between Fortson Road/North-lake Drive and Veterans Parkway will be closed Monday for construction work to make improvements at the Double Churches/Veterans intersection . The lane is expected to be closed for a month.  *  the eastern intersection of Whittlesey Road and Bradley Park Drive will close to all traffic Monday, so the contractor widening Whittlesey can adjust the pavement height at the intersection, city officials announced this week. * The intersection is expected to reopen Thursday. -- Good grief.. the GA DOT must not want North west Columbus to be able to shop at Columbus Park Crossing or get to the North Columbus Medical Center. What's so grossly bad/sad about this is that the Whittlesey Road situation was supposed to be finished last March, and even with a 6-month extension period it's still 8 or 9 months, possibly, NO... PROBABLY, not going to be finished at that time. THe GA DOT should cease tearing up Double Churches until it gets the mess at Whittlesey done!
