Online headline: "Clinton makes a play for the union vote" -- "makes a play FOR the union vote"?  Good grief.. Democrats OWN the union vote.. Hillary having Bill making a play FOR the union  vote in NY indicates that unions are abandoning the Clintons.

In above story, Bill Clinton told the SEIU that ""The problem is that in private companies, 80 to 90% of the profits are going to shareholders and top management, instead of workers, communities, and even customers, who are being hurt," Clinton said." -- "80 to 90% of the PROFITS are going to shareholders and top management"? Good grief.. PROFITS are what left over after paying worker salaries, manufacturing costs and taxes.. most companies have PROFITS of less than 5% which benefit the risk takers who invest in/provide the jobs and benefits!

There's nothing nice to say about that." -- I thought Martin Luther King, Jr said "the truth will set you free"... I guess this aspect of King's "dream" has fallen on the wayside just as there'll be a day the people are judged by their character rather than skin color.

 It's funny in a sad way, that when the flashlight holders have the light turned back on them, that what's in their shadows is as bad or worse that what they exposed in others.

 I remember going to Boston in 1992 for the "Head of the Charles" crew racing extravaganza. My sister lived there, and her daughter  (my niece) was a member of the Stanford Women's 8 team participating in the race. While my primary memories are of the beauty of a late Fall New England weekend, and getting to watch my niece participate in an International event, I also remember a sad.. a startling story about how segregation.. in the town most associated with the revolution and our freedoms..was still practiced... and with malice.

Two Boston high school foot ball teams were playing off for the Boston championship. Both teams and their cheerleading squads were being picked up by police escorted buses, and transported to an unnamed neutral football stadium to play the championship game at 11:00 AM. All that would be there were the two teams, the coaching staffs, the cheerleaders, the referees, and the police. No parents, no students. no public fans were to be allowed. 1992.... and in Boston.. an all white schools team and an all minority schools team  were squaring off. I didn't know such situations still.. no could still.. exist. I was just a Southerner observing the real land of Kennedy and liberals.

From the "rest of the story" department - Chris Matthews set a trap for Trump, then "forgot" to mention the bait to the TV audience.. The question posed to Trump was an "if" question about whether Trump would be consistent across the board. Matthews asked if Congress made abortions illegal, would Trump punish people for performing one. The "bait" was about punishing law breakers across the board.

You know..If Chris "tingling leg" Matthews interviewed Obama like he Trump, Obama would probably have "tinkled' on Matthews' leg.

From the L-E's "Today in History" feature: " In 1924, Adolf Hitler was sentenced to five years in prison for his role in the Beer Hall Putsch in Munich. (Hitler was released in December 1924; during his time behind bars, he wrote his autobiographical screed, “Mein Kampf.”" -- Hmmm.. sounds like Hitler was the beneficiary of an "early release" program .. Can't you imagine how history might have been effected if he served the full 5 years.. or as long as he could before the prison population caught up with him?

What a crock letter penned in the L-E today.. a long time realtor says the "tax thaw" will benefit Columbus long term. What has Mayor TomLYINGson promised him..(or hold over him)? Eliminating the Constitutionally protected "freeze" just insures that all those who have such will have it stripped away as soon as it is contested in Superior Court or if 6 Councilors vote to change the unprotected law. Columbus already has some of the highest millage rates in the COUNTRY (from 59 in District 2, 65 in District 1, and 72 if you're a business in the downtown B.I,D. District), and Mayor TomLYINGson seeks no route to lower them for anybody, and ... a challenge to the "new" law will make people protected now lose their current rates. The house next door to mine has been sold three times in the past 2 years. It's similar in footprint and square footage, yet for the first time in its history is actually valued more than mine I bought 13 years ago.
