Today is Martin Luther King, Jr Day.. may there be reflection and renewal
within the nation's population, and especially among our black leadership to re-read Dr King's messages and dream,
and strive to get back on the course Dr King advocated.

Online story: President-elect Donald Trump has warned the United States
will impose a border tax of 35 percent on cars that German carmaker BMW plans to
build at a new plant in Mexico and export to the U.S. market." -- You know, I
believe Mexico is about to realize it better volunteer quickly to start paying
DIRECTLY for "the wall".
---
Online headline: "Ringling Bros. circus folding its tent after nearly 150 years" -- Say it ain't so! Hey Ringling Brothers, Hold on.. Trump is on his way, and he may let you get your elephants back by canceling so many regulations imposed by Demos and RINOs.
---
Online story: "The Talladega College Marching Tornadoes now have plenty of money to play at President-elect Donald Trump's inauguration. * The small, historically black college was struggling to raise the $75,000 needed to fund the trip to Washington, D.C., for the band's 230 members. * That was, until Talladega College President Billy C. Hawkins went on Fox News' top-rated show, "The O'Reilly Factor," which averages over 3 million viewers. * Within a day, the band's GoFundMe page went from $50,000 to more than $300,000." -- Hey, John Lewis.. Trump just help a Historically Black College more in his transition period than you have in 30 Congressional years spewing your racist rhetoric.
---
From the "hit the nail on the head" department - Online headline: "Trump responds to John Lewis: Fix your 'horrible' Atlanta district" -- John Lewis has been representing Atlanta for 30 years.. under Reagan, Bush41, Clinton, Bush43, and Obama and has nothing for his district to show for his time there in Washington.. What's evident is that Lewis cannot work progressively with anybody.. Trump is right.. what do blacks have to lose by working with him?
---
Rep. John Lewis is....PATHETIC as a representative of the Atlanta area. Trump has campaigned..and followed through with working to improve our inner cities, and Lewis has spit in Trump's eye AND his DISTRICT's face rather than joining in on the planning conversations

We went to "Rogue One" over the weekend...Sure, the graphics were A-1 but too much was missing..for one, it wasn't "fun" like the original trilogy, nor did it have an ending. We've seen all the old and new movies so far, but I believe we just saw our our last one..We hate leaving a movie not knowing what went on because there wasn't an ending.
---
During that press conference when Trump castrated CNN's Acosta, another liberal mainscream media wonk tweeted that Trump was trying to discredit CNN.. Wow, I thought CNN had pretty much discredited itself years ago.
---
Union support for raising the minimum wage is a joke...Most union contracts are pegged to the minimum wage and a minimum wage raise bumps up their base. Since the average union contract wage is about $22.00 per hour, of course unions are in favor of almost doubling it.
---
You know, mainscream media feeling it is bigger than history or the daily news is just like sports writers thinking they are the reason sports are important.

We use Whitesville Road occasionally to visit some of our family..With so many streets in worst shape than Whitesville Road north of Hubbard, why is it being resurfaced now? A portion of it was repaved earlier following a construction project of building 3 "spec" houses by John Wells facing the road, and now it's been repaved further. You know, most of the heavy rush hour traffic that uses that portion of the road is from Harris County. Nice to have friends in the CCG. Of course, roads like 54th Street from River Road to Veterans, or Cloverdale from Mobley to Whitesville )i.e. roads Columbus drivers use, are in pitiful shape

Online headline/story: "The internet just can't believe what this Mississippi city calls MLK Day * A Mississippi city was at the center of Twitter rage Friday after calling Martin Luther King, Jr. Day by another name. * While announcing municipal offices would be closed Monday, the city of Biloxi's official Twitter and Facebook accounts said the absence was due to "Great Americans Day." -- You know, while I disagree with anyone arbitrarily changing the name, it is no denigration to call it "Great Americans Day". Remember when we had both Lincoln AND Washington Birthday holidays, and all of a sudden we had a single holiday celebration honoring "Presidents Day"? I didn't like it, but it wasn't a fighting issue, and now honors all 44, and soon to be 45, presidents. Now, I do ask is why political activists are going to get their panties in a wad over this.. most of them have abandoned the ideals of Dr Martin Luther King, Jr, as they have parleyed King's message into something that puts bread on their own tables.

Online story: A man in Michigan went outside on a cold snowy morning, cranked up his car to warm it up, and went back inside.. When he came back out, there was a ticket for $128.00 stuck under his windshield wiper. Police Chief James Berlin wasn't backing down, saying you can't leave vehicles running. * "This is purely a public safety issue," -- "purely a public safety issue"? Good grief.. no, it's a "Big Brother Issue! A public safety issue would have been if the patrolman had knocked on the man's door and reminded him that it made his car a target for thieves. Writing a $128.00 ticket for a non-moving made it a money-grubbing revenue issue.
---
L-E headline: "Columbus residents say MLK’s dream remains elusive" -- You know.. it would be a smoother transition if Dr King's message were the road map for all to follow.. unfortunately, there are too many "leaders" who want to fill their on pockets by exploiting the past for their own financial and political benefits.
---
LIV's L-E "soundoff": " Even the bigots who voted for Trump know that there’s something inherently wrong with him but are too self-absorbed to admit it." -- You know, there's more bigotry in pointing to someone else and calling him/her a bigot.. All it means is the name-caller has no tolerance for another's opinion, and has no courage to sit down and discuss the merits of their own opinion.
---
L-E story: "A school system employee in Maryland who had a lighthearted quarrel with a student on Twitter over the student’s spelling has been fired. * Katie Nash told The Frederick News-Post that she was fired Friday afternoon from her $44,000-a-year job. Nash ran the school district’s Twitter account. On Jan. 5, a student tweeted to the account, asking that schools be closed “tammarow.” * Nash responded from the district’s account, “But then how would you learn how to spell ‘tomorrow?’ ” -- Good grief.. no wonder kids have such horrible learning skills! Teachers/leaders can be fired for taking advantage of a "teachable moment". I guess next time Ms Nash will respond to a similar situation by submitting the students name for an academic scholarship.. or maybe an "akadimic skollarship" to Printstown or Yell.

L-E headline: "HEALTH CARE LAW * 6 surprising items that could disappear with ACA repeal" -- "could disappear"? Good grief. why don't the liberals WAIT AND SEE... and actually READ the Republican proposals BEFORE speculating on what's in it.. Besides, none of the mainscream media even knew what was in the OObamaCRAP to begin with until AFTER is was passed,
---
L-E COMMENTARY * Godspeed, Mr. President, and thank you * BY DUSTY NIX" --
You know, there is one man responsible for Trump's decision to sacrifice his personal like and step up to "Make America Great Again"... Barack Hussein Obama.. it was at the 2011 White House Correspondents Dinner when Obama exploited the power of his bully pulpit to embarrass Trump, who had no access for a response. I guess I am thankful to Obama for Trump's patriotism.
You know, I wish the L-E was still printed here in Columbus so late ending stories could be included the next morning.. In particular, I wish Dusty Nix had been at the L-E waiting to write the headline and run the results of the NCAA National Championship Game after Clemson beat Bama.
---
I have a better name for the movie, "Patriots' Day".... How about, "Man, our Obama appointed FBI and Homeland Security really screwed up"
---
Hey, Jennifer Holliday and her agent..what you've done is turn off the majority of voters in 30 plus states, and put yourselves in jeopardy of a breach of contract suit. Additionally, her agent has lost credibility in negotiating contracts for all his/her other talents he/she represents.
---
Oh..apparently, the White House "comments" line has been shut down for weeks, even though the "message" claims " your comments are important to the president". What did you expect, that after 8 years of not listening to us, Obama was going to finish his days in office "listening" to Americans?
---
Good grief..Al Sharlatan is back..he even wore a hat to "cover his hair" (for what reason?), but will someone give him a scarf so he can cover his mouth!

From the "and Feinstein wants Trump to divest himself of his family business" department - Online story: "To the surprise of absolutely no one familiar with the ways of Corruptifornia, the one-party state completely in the hands of the Democrats, a consortium whose lead firm is controlled by Richard Blum, husband of Sen. Dianne Feinstein, was awarded a nearly billion-dollar contract for the construction of the first phase of the so-called high-speed rail line to link San Francisco and Los Angeles. Those paying attention to the project call it the “half-fast” rail line because it will share trackage with conventional commuter rail trains in the sprawling Los Angeles and San Francisco areas, lowering its average speed to levels achieved by American railways a century ago." -- "Richard Blum, husband of Sen. Dianne Feinstein, was awarded a nearly billion-dollar contract"? Good grief...and this is not the first such government contract of over a BILLION dollars awarded to Blum.. he was give exclusive real estate listings of over a BILLION dollars to sell off excess US Post Office properties.. must be nice to be a California hypocrite!

Passed along by a fellow BCer - Online commentary by David French, a staff writer for National Review: "There’s nothing quite like a change of power to expose hypocrisy. Yesterday, the Washington Post ran a long and flattering discussion of fashion designers who are just in anguish that their artistic talents could be abused in the service of a cause they despise. In other words, they don’t want to “dress” Melania or Ivanka Trump. In an open letter rejecting the idea of working with the Trumps, designer Sophie Theallet said, “We value our artistic freedom, and always humbly seek to contribute to a more humane, conscious, and ethical way to create in this world.” She said, “As an independent fashion brand, we consider our voice an expression of our artistic and philosophical ideas.” -- Good grief.. Hollywood and the Fashion Industry is so full of its own hypocrisy and self-worth..If Hollywood "(_*_)"-listers and fashion designers can refuse service to the Trumps based on principle, why can’t bakers and florists follow their own principles?

You know, if I was going to watch one NFL game this year, it would have
been one involving Dallas.. I've admired Dak Prescott from the first time I saw
him playing for Mississippi State. .. but.. I haven't watched one this year, and
now all temptation to "break down" has been removed.. hope you Falcon Fans enjoy
next weekend IN Atlanta vs Green Bay..
