From the "what does it really matter " department - Online headline/story: "Florida executes man with drug not previously used in lethal injections * a 53-year-old man convicted of two 1987 murders, administering a lethal injection that included a drug never before used in a U.S. execution" -- "not previously used"? Good grief.. it worked didn't it! And now, :they" won't be able to say that again...

Instant repeat: From the "what does it really matter " department - Online story from above headline: "(Mark James" Asay was sentenced to death in 1988 for the killing of two men in separate incidents on the same day a year earlier. After using a racial slur during an argument, Asay shot Robert Lee Booker in the belly. He killed Robert McDowell by shooting him multiple times in the chest. Asay said later he believed McDowell had cheated him out of $10. * Asay was the first white man to be put to death in Florida for killing a black man since the state reinstated the death penalty in 1979." -- "first white man to be put to death.... for killing  a black man ... since 1979"?  Good grief...why does color matter so much to mainscream media.. besides, the real story is an (_*_) was executed for a heinous crime..The real question is why our Justice system took 30 years to disburse justice!

Carlton Gary.. YOU'RE NEXT!  31 years late, but better late than never..at this time..

From the "please get out of town by high noon" department - Online story: "Hurricane Harvey intensified to Category 2 by early Friday as it moved toward Texas, with meteorologists forecasting the storm could become a "major hurricane" when it makes landfall later in the day or Saturday. * Corpus Christi Mayor Joe McComb said no mandatory evacuations were in effect, but he urged residents in low-lying parts of the coastal city to leave. * "We are going to in the strongest possible terms encourage the residents in the low-lying areas, as they say, to get out of Dodge," McComb said at a news conference." --"get out of Dodge"?  Hmmm.. sounds like the Corpus Christi mayor was an "oater fan".  Mayor McComb adopted his best "Fred Graham as Duke Lee impersonation", and told Corpus Christ that "the town ain't big enough for the 326,000 of us".

Yesterday was the organizing meeting of the recently commissioned "Citizens MCSD SPLOST Committee"..  A lot of good MCSD executive staff was present as well to introduce themselves, and enlighten the "Committee"  as to procedures they use in decision making and when/where we can access information. All-in-all, the meeting was excellent.. well, maybe with one exception.. hopefully it will be limited to this meeting, but since when does a L-E reporter come to a meeting that is called to discuss/evaluate current statuses of school projects?

From the "please ignore what I do and concentrate on what I said" department - Online headline/story: "Canada ramps up deportations amid growing migrant influx *  As an influx of asylum seekers crossing from the United States strains Canada's immigration system, the country is ramping up its deportation of migrants, government data shows. * Deportations of Mexicans, who have flocked to Canada in growing numbers after a visa requirement was lifted in December, was already 66 percent higher in the first eight months of 2017 than the total from the previous year. * Deportations of Haitians, thousands of whom have crossed into Canada illegally in the hopes of avoiding deportation from the United States, have also soared. Canada has deported 474 so far this year, compared to 100 for all of 2016 when the government lifted its own ban on deportations to Haiti, in place since a devastating 2010 earthquake." -- Now we know why all the Hollywood grandstanders didn't keep their promises to leave America and move to Canada... Canada doesn't want them either.

---
From the "hitting the nail on the head" department - HuffPOOPOO headline/story: "Kellyanne Conway says Democrats want Hillary Clinton to 'make herself useful or fade out' * Conway went on to accuse Clinton of her lack of “bipartisan efforts” on issues like infrastructure and tax reform, before saying, “she failed to make history and she succeeds at making excuses.” -- "she failed to make history and she succeeds at making excuses."? Talk about summing up a person in 11 words or less! Or in the time worn vernacular, Hellary was been weighed and measured and found wanting"

---
From the "yeah,, they really care about clean air" department - Online headline: "11 of the Worst 25 Polluted Cities are located in one state"  -- Hmmm.. One guess.. .. you're right.. not the coal producing states, not the oil fracking states.. but California.. guess we should have expected it because of the piousness of Democrats,... they produce humongous amounts of methane gas every time they make a political promise.

---
From the "I don't know who was stupider" department - Online headline: "Miguel Cabrera threw haymakers and started an ugly, benches-clearing brawl with the Yankees" -- Hmmm.. A batter squared off with a catcher.. Now.. who was stupider, the batter, who threw his bat down and swung at the catcher who was wearing protective gear, or the catcher who took off his helmet to engage in a fight with a man who held a bat a few moments before?

---
From the "oooops, how'd this can of worms get opened" department - Online headline/story: "REPORT: Nancy Pelosi’s father dedicated Baltimore Confederate monuments * House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi wants House Speaker Paul Ryan to dismantle Confederate monuments at the Capitol, despite her own family’s involvement in dedicating similar statues. * “The Confederate statues in the halls of Congress has always been reprehensible,” Pelosi said in a prepared statement following the violence that erupted in Charlottesville earlier this month" -- Of course, Of course, Pelosi had the power to do exactly that during her term as Speaker of the House just a few short years ago and failed to take action.. Even more "funny" is that her father was a 5 term US Congressman from Maryland before he was the Mayor of Baltimore during the tumultuous 1950s, and her brother was the Mayor of Baltimore from 1967-1971 during the riot years...hmmm seems the D'Alesandro-Pelosi has always been hypocritical (at a minimum) and opportunistic whenever they got a chance...

---
From the "Fred Sanford, 'it's the BIG one, Elizabeth.. I'm coming to see you" department - Online story: "California’s state Supreme Court on Thursday upheld Proposition 66. The voter initiative is intended to speed up the state’s death penalty cases, which sometimes take more than 20 years to be resolved. * The plan called for death penalty cases to be completed within five years, but the five justices who formed the majority opinion said such a time schedule could not be guaranteed." -- Don't get TOO excited.. the US District 9 Court of Appeals hasn't spoken yet... but at least it's a start ...

Repeating myself: You know.. liberals celebrate sculptures that denigrate Christ drenched in excrement and urine by calling it freedom of artistic expression.. hmmm is there any difference in memorial sculptures?

---
Do you think that both KY Senators, McConnell and Rand Paul got less voter support in their last re-elections than Trump got in KY for President?

---
What good news! Charmaine Crabb, co-chair of the most successful "Keep the Freeze" campaign, is running for the Council Post 5 seat. Cannot vote for her but would if I could..You can bet I will support her campaign..we need Councilors who are active in our community in order to get positive changes.

Question. Do any of Mayor Tom-LYING-son's existing roundabouts have bicycle lanes?

---
You know, in 1990, the GA DOT wanted to put a massive, straight line thoroughfare from Macon Road to the proposed 13th St Bridge..Council rejected it because it would basically "rape" the Lakebottom area. Now the GA DOT feels 13th Ave should be narrowed for car/truck traffic. I guess the GA DOT figures people in Columbus and Phenix City, AL aren't buying as many cars.

From the "two-sided aspect not mentioned" department - L-E headline/story: "COLUMBUS STATE UNIVERSITY * CSU’s economic impact on local area more than doubles in past 15 years _The study reported CSU spent approximately $112 million in FY2016 on personnel and operations, and CSU students spent a total of almost $113 million." -- First, when CSU celebrated it's 50th year here in Columbus, it marked the 60th year of our family's donation to Columbus College/CSU.. Secondly.. no mention is made of the loss of property taxes for Columbus services is made as CSU buys up existing buildings/properties for school use, and thirdly, while $113,000,000.00 is a nice "sum", it only breaks down to a little over $1,600.00 per 8,000 students.. The bulk of student "contributions to the local area" go to CSU via tuition, books, food plans, and mandatory "FEES" . Yes we are proud of , and to have CSU here, but without Columbus, CSU would not exist here.

---
From the "how'd this happen... inquiring minds want to know" department - L-E headline: "PUBLIC SAFETY *Columbus Crime Stoppers regrouping after 2-year hiatus" -- You know, it's almost criminal in itself that this program disappeared... hopefully its revival will aid immensely in stopping crimes from going unsolved for so long.

---

L-E headline/story: "Columbus jobless rate stays at 6 percent; 600 jobs lost * “Due to the fact that a lot of summer jobs are held by students, it’s not surprising to see the July decline in jobs, especially with the earlier school start dates this year,” (Georgia Labor Commissioner Mark) Butler said." -- Hmmm... you know.. it's also just as true that there are more jobs created in Nov/December for the post-Thanksgiving and Christmas Season sales boost.. but that's never equated with the boost in seasonal job numbers that dissipate as soon as January appears.  The only real deduction that can be made here is that 3 of the GA cities (Columbus, Macon, and Albany are all represented by Sanford Bishop who gets but 1% of his re-election donations from under $200.00 donors.
