From the "have you ever noticed" department - Online story: "(Chief U.S. District Judge Orlando Garcia) on Wednesday halted parts of a Texas law intended to aid federal immigration enforcement by punishing so-called "sanctuary cities," in a ruling handed down two days before the measure was to have taken effect. * The court cannot and does not second-guess the legislature, Garcia wrote in a 94-page decision. "However, the state may not exercise its authority in a manner that violates the United States Constitution."" -- Have you ever noticed that when I report an obstacle thrown into the path of law enforcement's ability to "serve and protect" more effectively, the court order is always issued by a Clinton or Obama appointee? It's even sadder in this one, because the judge's citing of "the state may not exercise its authority in a manner that violates the United States Constitution", is procedurally correct, but interpreted incorrectly,  was written for clarity because the law is about enforcing the existing US federal laws that "sanctuary cities" are not upholding. Bottom line, just another example of liberal judicial activism.

From the "don't tell me you cannot see the FLAW in thinking " department - Online story: "Hall County elections officials are closely monitoring the actions of cities in Gwinnett County that are scrambling to comply with providing voting materials in Spanish to the county’s large Hispanic population that comprehends little or no English. *  Gwinnett County and its cities are compelled to provide language assistance to Hispanic residents under Section 203 of the federal Voting Rights Act. The U.S. Census Bureau determined late last year that Gwinnett County must comply based on demographic data showing that more than 5 percent or 10,000 citizens of voting age are members of a single-language minority. * Hall County Board of Elections and Voter Registration voted 2-1 to voluntarily comply with Section 203 of the VRA and not wait to be forced into compliance. The vote was taken along party lines at a time when the board had three members. Two Democrats voted in favor of providing bilingual ballots, and the lone Republican voted against it." -- When "more than 5 percent or 10,000 citizens of voting age are members of a single-language minority"? How can an American CITIZEN reach 18, have graduated from a public or private school. and still be considered non-bilingual? Of course this shouldn't have happened if the Gwinnett Public School system was doing its job..or if 2 of the three Board of Elections official weren't Democrats! The LAW is a FLAWED one to begin with because it covers up a bad education system.

Looks like the L-E not only has blocked comments on the daily 'ego-ads' of the Together 2017 group but have cut off access for ALL advertisers being able to get feedback from readers. The L-E is basically punishing its paying advertisers in order to keep the Together 2017 group from pouting. It's even sadder that the L-E benefits from running the Together 2017 ads as an " in kind" donation as it reduces their corporate income tax responsibility. Oh, and it saved them even more since the L-E doesn't have to pay for news content copied from other news services to fill-up that space.

I tell you what, the Cajun Navy and other small boat owners were just as, if not more, heroic than the British fishing fleets that saved the lives of the trapped British soldiers at Dunkirk.

From the "this just ain't right" department - There's a 55 acre piece of property attached to a homestead exempt property in a very exclusive section of town that paid only $525.00 in property tax last year. This property is completely surrounded by other homeowners in a neighborhood setting yet is given a special conservancy status. We're not talking about a potential park or outdoor area the public can share, but private residential property. This is just WRONG no matter who writes or interprets the laws. It's also "funny" that the "conservancy exemption" only affects properties of more than 10 acres, so most homeowners cannot do the same on their larger than 2 acre homestead exemption qualified homes.

Yesterday , I reported shocking news that Pelosi condemned the antifa protesters and that Feinstein acknowledged Trump could be a good president. Now that the shock has worn off, let's press them both about actually voting "yes" on Trump legislation.

The more I think about the FBI posture on not releasing files on Hellary because one person,  the head of the FBI’s Records Management Division, David M. Hardy  feels there's not enough public interest is ludicrous! Anybody who thinks this does not need to be working in a government law enforcement job. Let Hardy know you're interested in seeing Hellary held accountable:

Tucker Carlson was talking with a rep of the National Council on Math..She tried to defend the use of social injustice in math problems. You know she was absolutely wrong in feeling that making white students feel guilty through word problems will make everbody else become more comfortable, more proficient in math. What makes students more proficient, more confident in math is for all of them to be at their grade reading level so they can comprehend the math problems they are expected to master.

HuffPOOPOO headline: "US Immigration and Customs Enforcement warns of imposters looting homes in Houston" -- Good grief.. yesterday I mentioned that looters were shooting at and assaulting brave volunteers using their own boats to move isolated families to safe areas, and now this. There's a special place in HELL for these predators, and the courts should encourage the law enforcement personnel in disaster areas affected "to take no prisoners"..

Online headline/story: "Gunshot victim wasn't a burglar, Corpus Christi police say *  And now police say the initial account -- that the homeowner fired at a would-be burglar -- doesn't appear to be accurate. * Witnesses said the gunshot victim, 33-year-old Gilbert Soto, made several attempts to enter the house in Corpus Christi, near South Staples Street and Lipes Boulevard, the Corpus Christi Caller-Times reported.
* Police responded to a call around 11 p.m. local time Friday, an hour after the storm hit. When they arrived, they discovered Soto, naked, with a gunshot wound to the head. He was taken to a hospital. * Soto died from his wound Wednesday, the Nueces County Medical Examiner’s Office said. * Police have not released where on the property the man was shot but they say the homeowner feared for his and his family’s safety, the Caller-Times reported." -- Good grief.. a naked man tries several times to break into a man's "castle", and the police question the naked man's intent/motives?

Online headline: "Aaron Rodgers says Colin Kaepernick 'should be on a roster right now' and supports players who do not stand during the anthem" -- Aaron Rogers.. you're "dead to me" also.. It's attitudes like yours.. not standing up for what you believe in, that allows players like KaeperPRICK et al to inflict wrongful injuries to the American citizens beliefs.

From the "this is what the American flag is about... not what KaeperPRICK 'feels' " department - Online headline: "J.J. Watt has helped raise over $5 million for Houston in the wake of Hurricane Harvey after initially hoping for $200,000"

Online headline: "Trump: I don't 'want to be disappointed by Congress' on tax cuts" -- OK.. hey Pelosi.. you, too, Feinstein.. here's a great way to show your new found respect for President Trump.. AND earn brownie points with California  voters as well. SIGN ON with TRUMP on his  tax reduction/job creating tax reduction bill!

In a list of "worst/best states" economically. Georgia ranks 29th... but  while these figures overall are encouraging, they;d be way more impressive if Columbus/Congressional District 2 was not included in them:

29. Georgia
> 2016 GDP: $461.11 billion (9th largest)
> 5 yr. GDP annual growth rate: 2.2% (10th largest growth)
> Unemployment: 4.9% (7th highest)
> 5 yr. annual employment growth: 2.4% (11th fastest growth)

HuffPOOPOO  headline" "Sen. John McCain to return to Senate next week" -- Good grief.. hasn't Hurricane Harvey been enough disaster for Trump to handle , and now "Hurry-Cane John" is bringing his hot-air wind back to Washington? Now add "America" to our "Texas/Louisiana Prayer List"

---
Online headline: "Wasserman Schultz leads efforts to remove Confederate names, statue" -- Good grief.. this coming from a Democrat who would not remove a felonious Pakistani aide's name from access to the Congressional e-mail system.. what needs "removing"  is Debbie Washerwoman Schultz from Congress.. and the streets of America.

---
L-E headLIE: "Trump has leverage over Mexico and Canada on NAFTA" -- WRONG! it should read, "AMERICA has leverage over Mexico and Canada on NAFTA".. and we did when Clinton sold us out in signing it.. Mexico will pay for "the Wall". and use of our highways back and forth between Canada!

---
L-E headline: "SEC enters 50th season since racial integration" -- In the Fall of 1965, I was eating my first meal at the athlete's dining room at SMU in Dallas.. I remember Jerry LeVias, first scholarship black athlete in SMU AND the Southwest Conference history, sitting 15 or so places down the table from me, and one of the other football players sorta "bumped" him into his table and the tray in front of him. LeVias sat there and "took it" .. bravely.. By the time his career at SMU was over he was an All-American. I hope that big jackass finally apologized to LeVias. Since then, Jerry LeVias has been inducted into many "Halls-of Fame. but it was that day in August of 1965 that he went into mine.

From the "good news/bad news" department - L-E headline: "FDA approves first-of-its-kind ‘living drug’ for childhood leukemia * Novartis executives said in a call with reporters that the therapy would cost $475,000 per treatment." -- Yippee ki yay! What a break through! Unfortunately, at 475,000.00 for a procedure, 600 people a year will feel like someone's tied a string to their hopes, and will yank it away when the patients reach out for it.. You know.. I read an earlier version of this, and projected treatment costs were "only" $300K per treatment.. I guess now that the news is out, Novartis is "gouging " more.

OK.. access is back, maybe the L-E was just insulating the "TAX THAW" advocate and soon-to-be former District 133 Representative from more embarrassment:
"While many people have said the same thing in slightly different ways,
Ronald Reagan had a way with words....this quote of his works for all aspects of our lives.. whether in sports, public or private sector offices, or in doing God's work: Reagan said, "On my desk in the Oval Office. I have a little sign that says: "There is no limit to what a man can do or where he can go if he doesn't mind who gets the credit." Why does "Together 2017" so insistent that we know who is behind its projects, rather than what benefit the projects have made for the community?

L-E story: "The Mayor’s Commission on New Government and Judicial Building is getting closer to making a recommendation to Columbus Council on what to do with the 46-year-old structure." -- You know, The Commission would do more service to Columbus in recommending how we get rid of a 52 year old obstacle to progress in our city prior to the next election.

---
Stupid ... Very STUPID LIV's L-E "soundoff": "Not by my definition - Joe Arpaio is not a patriot. He is a thug who violated people's rights." -- And this idiot would be a screaming-weenie if he/she asked for a jury trial and a judge denied it so she could circumvent the 6th Amendment of our Constitutions guaranteed rights of a fair trial for every American citizen.

L-E story: "A major piece of Pratt & Whitney’s expansion project in Columbus is about to ramp up, with the aerospace company now starting construction on a 276,301-square-foot facility on Macon Road on the city’s east side. * The price tag on the construction is $31.3 million, according to an Aug. 24 building permit, with Evans General Contractors performing the work at 8987 Macon Road." -- Whew.. glad the MCSD and it's contractors are not building it..Pratt & Whitney's new building will cost only $113.00 a sq ft, while the MCSD is building numerous 2,400 sq ft "wrestling/weight room metal buildings on concrete slabs at $312.00 per sq ft.
