From "a poll that counts" department - Online story: "President Donald Trump is more popular with likely voters than he is with the general public, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll that underscores why Republican lawmakers have largely stuck with the polarizing president despite his plunging approval ratings. * Some 85 percent of those who voted for Trump in 2016 said they would do so again, the poll found." -- And Republican incumbents/wannabees should tack this article on the wall of their campaign headquarters. It means the voting conservatives are looking at their representatives as either "for or agin" them.

From the "fraud is fraud" department - Online headline: "Former President Barack Obama reports for jury duty in Chicago" -- Well, aren't the Obama's are now residents of Washington, D.C. since they bought a home in the area since leaving the White House, and have spent more nights there than in Chicago in the last 9 years?

The great number of people shot and killed on the streets of Chicago is well publicized.. 559 so far in 2017, 721 in 2016, 448 in 2015, but that isn't the whole story.. No, the story is how proficient Emergency Room doctors have become at preventing deaths by guns...so far in 2017, 3,206 have been shot.. in 2016, 4,379 were shot, and in 2015, 2996 were shot. So even though 1,728 people have been shot and killed on the streets of Chicago, Chicago Emergency Room Doctors have examined/treated 10,581 gun shot wounded Considering 8,853 have left the hospital alive is a great testimony to the Doctors skills. Of course, the Doctors get lots... LOT of practice. In fact, too much practice.

From the "if there is no incident, create one to get get sympathy" department - Online headline/story: "Racist messages posted at Air Force Academy discovered to be written by one of the targeted victims * An incident at the U.S. Air Force Academy Preparatory School in Colorado Springs, Colorado, made headlines in September when five black cadet candidates discovered racist messages written on the whiteboards outside their dorm rooms. * The hateful messages inspired the academy’s superintendent Lt. Gen. Jay Silveria to deliver an impassioned speech denouncing the perpetrator’s racist writings, telling students: “If you’re outraged by those words, then you’re in the right place. You should be outraged not only as an airman, but as a human being.” * But now it seems that the perpetrator wasn’t a racist student targeting the academy’s black attendees — but was instead one of the targeted black victims themselves. * Sources cited by the Gazette allege that the student wrote the messages in a “bizarre bid” to get out of trouble for other misconduct at the school, though the academy won’t confirm the specific circumstances behind the incident." -- Every mainscream media "journalist" needs to apologize "fast and furiously" for every racist accusation hurled at the good people of leadership at the Air Force Academy. And at least twice as many times as the "journalists" published them.

Talk about "Ugly Americans"... Good grief.. 3 UCLA basketball players were arrested in China for shoplifting... A PURSE while there to participate in a basketball game as part of an international cultural exchange. Guess the UCLA coach forgot to warn them that their feelings of entitlement ended when they got on the plane in California.

Hmm.. the DOJ has stated that the AT&T-Time Warner merger can be completed on the condition that AT&T sell CNN before the deal happens. I really don't care... either way.. As I see it, CNN will always be CNN, and I'm not using CNN as my "go to" for information, and I'm not going to be a customer of AT&T or Time Warner.

From the "maybe this job needs a "job description overhaul" department - Online headline/story: "Oakland's top cop probed for assisting in illegal immigrant arrest in sanctuary city * Oakland’s police chief is facing an internal affairs investigation, a formal complaint by a city commissioner and questioning by furious City Council members --- all because she—perhaps unwittingly—helped federal authorities arrest an illegal immigrant in a sanctuary city. * Anne Kirkpatrick, who was widely heralded as a seasoned progressive reformer when she became Oakland’s top cop early this year, has acknowledged that she sent police officers to assist federal agents for a human trafficking investigation at an Oakland home Aug. 16. * Two adults were detained during that investigation, and federal authorities have commenced civil deportation proceedings against one of them" -- Only in California... the top law official gets called on the carpet for upholding the oath she wore to support the U.S. and California Constitutions.

---
WTVM 9 story: "Columbus police are investigating after a man was shot to death in his car Tuesday night. * The shooting happened at the intersection of Sherwood Avenue and 44th Street, near Manchester Expressway. * The Muscogee County Coroner's Office tells WTVM the victim is Kuamane Emanuel Ford, 19. * Ford's death marks the 36th homicide of the year in Columbus. " -- Hmmm... gonna bet he was not on his way to join the Mayor's "Table Top Discussion" group.

---
From the "how'd he say this without ROFLOL" department - L-E headline/story: "Russell County jury hits Walmart with $7.5 million verdict for man injured while buying watermelon * "I THINK THIS JURY APPRECIATED WHAT MR. WALKER WENT THROUGH AND THEY COMPENSATED HIM ACCORDINGLY. David Rayfield, attorney with Waldrep Mullin & Callahan LLC" -- Give me a minute.. I can hardly type from my rolling-on-floor-laughing-out-loud position at the moment.

---
L-E headline: "State’s top court hears final ‘Stocking Strangler’ appeal" -- I tell you what..if the GA Supreme Court agrees with Gary's attorneys' aspects, then I say, let him go.. but have the NY authorities on hand to take him back there and be NY's problem of feeding him, and the attorneys' inconvenience of representing him in NY.

---
LIV's L-E "soundoff": "That doesn’t really work for me - If I have to carry a gun to attend a service in honor of the Prince of Peace, I believe I will abstain." -- Hmmm.. sound like the devil already got to this "soundoffer" a long time ago.

---
Informed L-E "soundoff": "The law wasn’t the problem - The Texas shooter would not have been able to purchase firearms if the Air Force had reported his court-martial as required by existing laws. A law-abiding community member with a gun prevented more carnage." -- Let's not forget the "politically correct" mandates ordered by Obama during that time, and how many competent military leaders were "retired" for standing up for military order.

---
You know, if courts are going to overrule death sentences, maybe there are elements of Sharia Law we need to adopt.. chopping off body parts of convicted thieves, convicted murderers, and convicted sex offenders.

---
Hmm.. and we thought that the $97,000.00 spent on the latest .. and ludicrous.. City slogan was going to be the end of it, guess again... look at the additional "ad space" adding the logo to required City ads will add to City expenses.. We need to petition Council to take the extra money to pay for this from the Mayor's bicycle trail fund.
