A conservative's daily look at the news with an aspect of "Laugh-In Looks at the News" and "Johnny Carson's monologue" twisted in.

Today is a "special edition" as it's Sunday.. decided to send my Saturday "stuff" out instead of lumping it in with the usual "Monday Weekend Update" as I will not be sending out any edition tomorrow.. I will be up early Monday to go to Atlanta to witness my son-in-law take his oath of office to become an Officer of the Court. Praise God!

From the "what a difference character makes" department - Remember Bill Clinton's 1992 campaign promise of giving hard working Americans a tax cut... and during his first State of the Union address, he "apologized" that he tried hard to make it happen but couldn't.. Trump on the other hand, made us a campaign promise, and has worked hard, and IS MAKING IT HAPPEN!
---
Senator Paul Rand was assaulted by a medical acquaintance of his st his home.. Rand was "sucker-punched". Guess Rand now understands how Trump felt when Rand wouldn't vote for ObamaCRAP repeal.
---
So neither Bush 41 nor 43 voted "FOR" Trump.. Bush 41 even admits he voted for Hellary.. Thank God Trump ran and won..The Bush admissions just reveals that the Republican establishment can no longer be trusted to have conservative ideals or interests.

From the "now we know why Dr King, Jr wasn't a Democrat" department - Online headline/story: "Newly released secret Martin Luther King Jr. document alleges communist ties and affairs * And among the documents, a secret FBI analysis of Martin Luther King was found with allegations against the civil rights leader having communist affiliations and multiple affairs. * It said quote, “The course King chooses to follow at this critical time could have a momentous impact on the future of race relations in the United States. * The analysis includes several pages about his sexual life, saying quote, “King has continued to carry on his sexual aberrations secretly while holding himself out to public view as a moral leader of religious conviction.” -- Hmmm... wouldn't seem to ethical. either, for any member of the Kennedy family to release these considering the Kennedy philanderings.

Love Saturdays when we have a double dawg delight.. Go UGA! Hail State!
---
Hail STATE! We won but it wasn't pretty..but then, again, when players are wearing the teams "UGLY" uniforms, players don't play as well.
---
From the "how hypocritical can mainscream media get?" department - L-E headline/story: "Poll: Most US adults say you don't have to be religious to be moral * Most Americans now say no, according to a new survey by the Pew Research Center. Fifty-six percent of adults surveyed say you can be a good person without divine faith, up from 49 percent in 2011." -- You know.. the real story here is how warped and self-serving Pew Polls are.. As morals are a learned concept, a religious doctrine has to be in place. Pew Polls do have a distinct irony... basically, all Pew Polls "stink".
---
The Left's response to the Trump "tax cut" is that it will add to the National Debt...you know, I've never seen a tax cut that added debt.. debt comes from irresponsible SPENDING by Congress!
---
Geraldo says that after talking with many active and veteran soldiers about the judges decision not to send Bergdahl to jail and finding them all upset at that decision, he is/was conflicted with his opinion agreeing with the judge.. Geraldo isn't "conflicted", he's "CONSTIPATED"!
---
Online.. NBC Online, no less.. headline/story: "Memo Reveals Details of Hillary Clinton-DNC Deal * In exchange for Hillary for America's (HFA) helping the cash-strapped DNC raise money, the party committee agreed "that HFA personnel will be consulted and have joint authority over strategic decisions over the staffing, budget, expenditures, and general election related communications, data, technology, analytics, and research." --
Hillary For America?...Obama for America?...HFA/OFA..."Hillary/Obama For Anarchy" is more like it.
---
From "the mainscream media feels it is exempt from showing tolerance" department - Online headline/story: "White House press secretary Sarah Sanders body-shamed by LA Times columnist * Los Angeles Times political columnist David Horsey body-shamed White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders in his latest anti-Trump hit piece, describing her as a “chunky soccer mom.” * Horsey originally wrote Wednesday that Sanders “does not look like the kind of woman” that President Donald Trump would chose for the high-profile role, assuming he would prefer “sleek beauties with long legs and stiletto heels” who could pass for “arm candy” in addition to serving as the White House’s top spokesperson." -- Hmm.. wonder how "Whoresy" would describe Hellary if she weren't a HAVE to TOLERATE lib?
---
L-E headline/story: "Muscogee students evacuated from smoking school bus * For the second time in less than two weeks, a smoking Muscogee County School District bus prompted the driver to evacuate the passengers without injury. * MCSD bus 13-791 was transporting 14 students from Aaron Cohn Middle School when smoke started enter from the rear wheel well while at a scheduled stop, the district announced Friday evening." -- "Bus 13-791"? You know, that's one of the newer buses.. it was acquired in 2013 (digits before the hyphen indicate year a bus was acquired), and the MCSD timeline is to get 10 years out of buses.. perhaps the warranty the MCSD gets should be scrutinized a bit..
---
While I do believe in positive recognition as a force for motivation.. there comes a point that such usage is not positive,, like when half of the MCSD elementary schools are below 70, and a third of the MCSD middle schools and high schools have the same results.. going to school should not be an effort to get a "participation trophy" at the end of 12 years, because the work world recognizes excellence as it's measure for praise. And looking deeper, new industries looking at Columbus are watching these results .. but wear no rose-tinted lenses.
---
After seeing so many "not guilty" pleas for local violence charges by those caught pretty much 'REDHANDED", and I do believe everyone is entitled to a fair trial and legal advice, I also believe that if a person is caught committing a violent crime and pleads "not guilty", that person should be responsible paying for a lawyer out of his own pocket. Now, if the criminals want to plead 'guilty', then I see no harm in a public defender being with them to protect their rights as laid out by law.
---
L-E commentary headline/context: "COMMENTARY * ‘We do amazing’ sets bar high for Columbus"" -- You can mention the static "amazings" (Riverwalk, National Infantry Museum, RiverCenter.. etc), but success is measured by today and forward.. our economic and educational and crime numbers are the opposite of "amazing". and, unfortunately, are how the outside world measures our future. Columbus voters have the power to change directions, but not when they vote for "static" continuation in leadership.
