From the "Between the Hedges visitors' revenge" department - According to the HuffPOOPOO, there's a law on the books in Athens-Clarke County, GA that says it's "unlawful to create noise that's audible from a distance of 300 feet or more beyond property limits. The rule applies from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 7 a.m. to midnight on weekends. * In particular, one cannot shout, hoot, sing or whistle on public streets, sidewalks or any private property, according to Municode. Violators face a $1,000 fine. Hmmmmm.. next time you go to Athens to see a game your college is playing the Bulldogs in Athens, you can make a "citizens arrest" of all the UGA fans on opening kickoff and have the stands emptied so your team can hear the signals your quarterbacks barks out.

Online headline/story: "New York Times responds to backlash after profiling Nazi sympathizer * Readers took issue with how the profile of Tony Hovater, an Ohio man described as the "Nazi sympathizer next door," normalized his behavior. The piece leads with his wedding plans, mentions his love for Seinfeld and Twin Peaks, and includes a picture of him grocery shopping. * The NYT hadn't intended to sanitize white supremacy, but rather show that extremists live among Americans, Lacey wrote. The profile was originally published online with the headline “In America’s Heartland, the Nazi Sympathizer Next Door." It was later changed to "A Voice of Hate in America’s Heartland" and remained that way as of publication of this post." -- Looks like the NYTimes was trying to "normalize" extremism, and it's readers want no part of such.. Hey Fox News... this is how YOUR viewers "feel" when you parade Democrat spinmeisters in to try to "normalize" socialism/communism/despotism!

You know, "modern education" is in a quandary.. it forsook older time-proven methods for "modern" methods that aren't working, and yet the "modern educators" keep looking for new untried methods than restoring time-proven methods THAT WORKED!

Online headline: "Trump lashes out at CNN, calls Fox News 'MUCH more important'" -- Hmmm.. Trump must not be watching Fox... pretty soon, he'll be lashing out at Fox, too. is over. I've pretty much stopped watching Fox News once Fox & Friends.
---
Online headline: "MSNBC's 'Morning Joe' hosts caught faking post-Thanksgiving banter they taped earlier" -- Hmmm.. already known for its "Fake News", MSNBC now becomes the network of "Fake Non-News"

Last Sunday, a US Border Agent, Rogelio Martinez, died from massive wounds inflicted with rocks.. his unnamed partner was viciously attacked with rocks as well. Illegal immigrants are suspected, but where are the follow-up stories?

Online story: "An angry motorist tried to cut his van into President Donald Trump's motorcade in Florida on Saturday afternoon and made obscene gestures as he was pulled over by police. * A White House pool report said the red van "attempted to cut into the motorcade. Local law enforcement pulled over the vehicle, where the driver made obscene gestures and screamed several expletives." -- An unknown van tried to cut into the Presidents motorcade in Florida... and was pulled over? The van should have been "blown off the road".. there was no way of knowing that the van didn't hold explosives or assassins.

President Trump had a "Golfer's Valhalla" weekend! He played golf with Tiger Woods, Dustin Johnson on Friday, and with Jack Nicklaus and his son Gerry on Saturday. This stirred up memories of a similar "Golfer's Valhalla" my Uncle Hal Armentrout, Jr had in 1980 during the last playing of Jackie Gleason's Inverrary Classic.. There was a 2-day Pro-Am for sponsors and guests.. During the drawing Party preceding the event, Uncle Hal's group drew Jack Nicklaus as their celebrity partner for Day 1.. Uncle Hal Left the party to find a phone to call my parents with his excitement.. After telling them about Nicklaus, he went back to the party and found out that on Day 2, his groups celebrity partner was "The Great One". Jackie Gleason himself. I still have the tee-gift watch he received as a memento.. and it still works 37 years later.

From the "even the NY Post sees through Franken" department - Online headlie/story: "Al Franken’s unconvincing ‘apologies’ * Al Franken comes out of the world of show business, where scripts are constantly rewritten — so that’s probably why he’s just issued a fourth version of his attempt to explain sexual-harassment charges against him * But all he’ll concede is having “made some women feel badly.” Not one of his statements admits to any intentionally bad behavior." -- "Some women"? Al,, explain who "some women" are..I know of none that not be upset having a stranger.. especially some one as strange as Al Franken, uninvitedly hug/grope them.

When is the Chamber and Columbus Visitor's Bureau going to start running daily innocuous "We do Amazing" ads like the "Together 2017" group does? I can visualize the first one, "We do Amazingly BAD Employment and Education Figures"
---
The NFL is still delusional...it talks about lost attendance figures like it's not so bad, but they are counting those empty season ticket seats as "full".
---
Even though UGA got a TD on the next play, Wims had a TD stolen from him..His feet were in and he got the ball over the pylon,, but the review said otherwise...musta been a ACC review ref.

Withouta doubt, the FLA-FSU game had to be the mo st embarrassing rivalry game scheduled this past weekend. Both teams were 4-6 going in to it, meaning that the winning team would still have a losing record, and if FLA won, neither team was going to be"bowl eligible "..and regardless, neither of the team would crack the top 3 FBS schools in Florida. Central FLA is undefeated, Miami has lost 1, and South FLA has lost 2. Whatta fall from grace.

Small Business Day on this past Saturday could not have been a worst day for independent Columbus retailers.. GA-GA Tech played at Noon, and AU vs Bama kicked off around 3:30.Everybody I know was either at the games or firmly entrenched in front of a TV bu 11:00 AM

From the "now it makes total sense" department - Informative L-E "soundoff": "The New York-Hillary connection Birmingham, Huntsville and Mobile newspapers are all owned by Advanced publications, which is located in NYC and endorsed Hillary in the presidential election. They just endorsed Jones over Moore. Shocking!" -- Verified this myself..

Last week.. and a couple of times previous, I brought up that GA Power Company has pulled out of Columbus, and basically, is no longer sharing Columbus expenses via property taxes.. I made a mistake.. GA Power Company still owns a lot of property in Columbus,, (parcels 000-000-016, -016A, -016B, -016C, -016D, 000-000-017, 000-000-018, -018A) .. Combined those parcels have a 2017 Fair Market Value tax assessed value of over $206,000,000.00... plus another property at 3818 Woodruff Rd which GA Power bought in 2016 for $162,000.00 yet the Tax Assessor has the Fair Market Value at $0.00 (zilch).  The 000-000-etc numbered parcels above have no addresses to check so I do not know whether the building on Veterans Parkway GA Power closed is included.. but here's the kicker.. GA Power pays ZERO in property taxes!  WE users pay a City franchise fee, as well as the rates elected officials approve as well as sales taxes on the amount we use.. yet GA Power pays ZERO towards the fire and police protection we provide nor any amount towards maintaining the roads GA Power trucks and meter readers use.  Excuse. me. even though GA Power Company is a "utility company" it's still a BUSINESS (with MONOPOLY status), and every other business in Columbus has to pay ... and include .. property taxes in its expenses. Even more angering is that GA Power Company is allowed by the GA Public Service Commission to take a portion of the moneys we pay in fees, and put it into a "Foundation" which it can use to give out to other charitable organizations to make GA Power Company "look generous" giving away money it has taken from the users,  In other words, GA Power Company's contributions to "Together 2017 projects isn't even coming out of GA Power Company's pocket.. it was/is siphoned out of OURS but GA Power takes the credit. Bah Humbug, GA POWER!

Was out buying our Christmas tree yesterday and ran into not-soon-enough-for-me-ex-District-133-Representative John Pezold.. he must be a campaign official for the Buzz guy running against Josh McKoon.. one of Pezold's heirs was playing with a Buzz Brockyear Toy Story character.. hmmm, I thought.. "To Insanity and Beyond"!

NY Gov Cuomo says the current federal tax bill cuts will cause NYers to move. Hey, GOV, why not just cut your own state housing/property taxes and make your supporters more happy to stay in N Y?
---
The next time you hear any Democrat Congressman  or candidate say he/she can work towards bipartisanship government, ask him/her how he/she voted on the tax cut and Obamacare repeal.

The Lord promised to separate the sheep from the goats..Sheep will go to right hand and goat to his left. Of course in today's vernacular,  HE meant Conservatives to His right hand and liberals to His left hand.

Since Auburn beat Bama, I'm sure there are a lot of early purchased SEC Championship game tickets issued to Bama season ticket holders available, and I'm sure Bama fans don't want to deal with Auburn fans, so here's the deal..I'm buying..and giving 100% of save-face value on primo seats, 75% on lower level  sideline seats, and 50% of face value on nosebleed  section tickets.. Line forms on the right.

From the "Fred Sanford: "It's the BIG ONE, Elizabeth, I'm coming to see you" department - Online story: "Michigan Rep. John Conyers on Sunday stepped aside as the top Democrat on the House Judiciary Committee but again denied recent allegations of sexual and inappropriate conduct.he investigation into allegations of sexual misconduct." -- Good grief.. an "ethics" move by a Democrat.. will wonders never cease. Hey, Franken.. you too, Clintons,.. take a "hint"!

Mississippi State lost its quarterback with an ankle injury in the game Saturday, and later Dan Mullens announced he's been overwhelmed by an obscene offer from Florida
that he cannot refuse. I'm sorry to lose Mullens as Mississippi State has flourished, but wish Coach Mullens happiness at Florida.. it's gonna be tough pulling against him now, but he chose to go to Florida, not me.. so.. on the other hand.. it really won't be that tough...

L-E headline/story: "Guns were Black Friday must-haves in US stores * On Friday, the FBI received 203,086 requests for instant gun background checks, according to USA Today – nearly a 10 percent increase from the year before and a new record for background checks in a single day." -- Yes.. and the background searches show honest American citizens are active in their future.. maybe one of these will show up in my stocking for Christmas.. I have a couple of open slots in my gun closet.
---
L-E headline/story: "City wages battle against people dumping trash at dead-end road * Residents have voiced concerns on this stretch of road for the last three months. A day after Thanksgiving, the end of the street was filled Friday with discarded carpet, clothing, bulging garbage bags, roofing and even part of a deer missing both hind quarters. * It appears that some person or a group is using the area as an illegal dumping location. Not much evidence was left for city officials to get a lead on the suspects. * “There was no proof of where or who did the dumping,” Hudgison said. “There is a lot of solid waste and construction waste at this location.” -- Hmm.. excuse me, but how tough will it be to add one of those "driveway alert" alarms in a tree near there that signals the CPD when a vehicle enters that road? Tie it into the existing radio communication system the CPD already has.
---
L-E headline: "MUSCOGEE COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD * School board to vote on racial harassment policy" -- Forget policies. I want know where the MCSB/MCSD is going to build the wrestling/weight room building on the Columbus High School campus. The only places I can see large and appropriate enough are in the existing lot... but didn't tax payers get stuck paying $935,000.00 to build one because there isn't enough parking space as it is,l and now the only places available may be taken for new construction which will eliminate about as many spaces as were built....
---
When the FBS looks at each teams schedule for toughness.. Auburn has to have had the toughest.. The SEC West teams always have a tough schedule, but Auburn also played Clemson.. current number 1, and also Alabama and Georgia when they were ranked #1.
