From the "what'd he say?" department - After yesterday's Virginia governor's race was won by the Democrat.. again.. former US Attorney General under Obama, Eric Holder "tweeted": "If we work hard and run everywhere we can unite our country and end this awful time. It will not be easy but it can-and must-be done. We fight. “Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.” Winston Churchill" -- "if we work hard.... we can unite our country"? Good grief.. Holder was just as responsible for redividing this country as Obama... ans what's with the Churchill thing.. Holder's boss removed the bust of Churchill, a gift from Great Britain, from the Oval Office.

Speaking of "twits".. Twitter has doubled the characters from 140 to 280 ... heaven help us .

From the "what are they thinking" department - Online story: "The Arkansas Supreme Court on Tuesday blocked the planned execution this week of a convicted killer who his lawyers argued is severely mentally ill and should not be put to death. *Justices granted an emergency stay for Thursday's execution of Jack Greene, 62, convicted in 1991 of the death of Sidney Burnett. The court release its decision without comment. * Prosecutors said Greene inflicted a "macabre horror" on the 69-year-old retired minister, by beating him with a can of hominy, cutting him from mouth to ear and then shooting him twice." You know, I probably agree with the Arkansas SC Justices.. the (_*_) is probably mentally delusional,, I mean who's sick enough to turn a can of hominy into a brutal murder weapon, but... BUT unlike the Arkansas SC Justices, I would not consider letting such a delusional (_*_) ever to escape the death sentence as there's always the possibility that the delusional (_*_) could end up back on the street and live near my family.

Mayor Tom_LYING-son and School Superintendent Lewis must be breathing a sigh of relief.. a list of the "worst Cities to raise children" was released and Columbus did not make the list.. of course, the list was contained to the worst 25..

Online headline: "Rosie O'Donnell makes massive declaration about her love life" -- WHOA! This is as far as I read and am going to take you, but I saw an error in the headline.. the proof reader must be dyslexic.. It should have read, " Massive Rosie O'Donnell makes declaration about her love life".

---
Online headline: "NFL opposes US Republican tax plan on stadium funding" -- Good grief, for a private entertainment industry that allows it's cast to disrespect the National Anthem, police officers, military..active and veterans, our flag itself, and patriotic Americans, the number one question is why was public money EVER used to build sports arenas!

From the "I knew the game of baseball had become to spread out and impersonal, but this is surreal" department - Online headline/story: "Former MLB pitcher Roy Halladay dies in plane crash * Local authorities confirmed that former MLB pitcher Roy Halladay has died after a plane crashed in the Gulf of Mexico on Tuesday. He was 40 years old. * Halladay, nicknamed "Doc," was a two-time Cy Young Award winning pitcher and an eight-time MLB All-Star during his career with.... the ________ and _____." -- Wow.. until I read 3 paragraphs into the report, I had no idea who the pitcher was or teams he played on..in spite of obviously a fantastic career. I also remember growing up knowing the line up and batting/pitching stats on the whole Red Sox and Red Legs teams... and knowing.. this is important, knowing where the players would be playing the following season. Oh, with no disrespect intended .. his teams were Toronto and Philly..

---
Online headline: "Trump not invited to Paris December climate change summit for now, says France" -- Good grief.. as if Macron knew Trump would even accept an invite to a "pretend tea party"..

---
From the "now the Dems are coming after you" department - Online story: "Faced with new scheduling constraints, Baltimore County school officials have decided to keep schools closed next year on the Jewish High Holy Days. * News outlets report that the county school board voted 9-3 Tuesday in favor of an academic calendar in which schools will be closed on Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur." -- Hmmm.. the Dems have gotten Christmas and Easter renamed "Holiday and Spring Break", and now are taking away Jewish identified days.. I guess the Dems just feel they will still "own" the Jewish vote regardless.

Even in the game of local politics,  political correctness should have a limit .. I saw one one of the Council District 7 candidates with "Vote for me" signs posted on the building of an Adult video/toy store on Veterans Parkway..

A fellow BCer asked me if our Chamber President was a home owner or not in our community since he moved here in 2015, as his name is not listed in the tax database, so I asked him.. he said he is a resident in Maple Ridge, but said it wasn't any of my business.. I did remind him that since the Chamber gets a big chunk of our tax dollars, it would be nice to know whether he had "skin in the game".. his arrogance bothers me.

L-E story: " This will mark the 25th year for the Georgia High School Association State Cheerleading Championships, and once again it’s going to be a huge event this week for host city Columbus." -- It's great to have this energetic group of young and active students back in Columbus, but is it really as beneficial as it seems? Let;s face it, parents driving in will more than likely see the visual blight of Veterans Parkway as a first, and possibly worst, impression of our City. The stretch of Veterans between River Road and 13th Street has 20 businesses with barbed and/or razor wire topped fencing..

Blind LIV's L-E "soundoff": "‘What if’ indeed * What if American citizens had the same love and respect for the First Amendment as for the Second?" -- Interesting "read".. but only in the fact that it's more than likely those opposed to the 2nd Amendment are also opposed to those in favor of the 2nd Amendment having the rights of the 1st Amendment.

---
L-E story: "For the first time in the history of the annual School of the Americas Watch protest at Stone Gate in Columbus, organizers have missed the permit deadline to hold what would have been the 27th year for the vigil." -- Once again, the L-E displays how out-of-touch it is with the interests of the community.. defrocked Reverend Roy would have gone away decades ago without the L-E bringing his name to light each year..and no body cares what defrocked Rev Roy cares about.

From the "suspicions re-confirmed" department -- L-E story: "The gunman who opened fire in a church outside San Antonio, killing at least 26 people, escaped from a mental health facility in 2012 after he was caught sneaking guns onto an Air Force base and “attempting to carry out death threats” made against military superiors, according to a police report. * The report said that officers with the El Paso, Texas, police were dispatched to a bus terminal after Devin Kelley’s escape from a behavioral facility about seven miles away in New Mexico. * Officers wrote that they were told Kelley “was a danger to himself and others” at the time and noted that he “was also facing military criminal charges.” Kelley was courtmartialed that same year and convicted of abusing his wife and her son." -- Yesterday, I wrote that the big difference in the Air Force not reporting the (_@_)'s record was probably due to the "political Correctness" doctrine Obama insisted our military conform to. this confirms it.
