What a difference! The Commander in Chief spoke at the Commencement of the US Air Force Academy and told them about the opportunities for greatness that awaits them. Hellary, Chief Whiner, also spoke at a Commencement service (I'm not going to embarrass the college any further by mentioning its name) and made the graduates 'moment in the Sun' all about why she didn't win..of course, in true Hellary form, none of what she said was true...nor will help the graduates make a difference in their lives.

Since it has become an issue here in Columbus, I want to talk about the idiocy of "jaywalking" as a crime. When I was about 7, I learned how to determine the safety of crossing a street from my mother and grandmother.. look both ways, and if it's clear, cross the street briskly and cautiously.. and never forget that cars are bigger than you, and will hurt if you get hit... and if traffic is heavy, walk to a street corner if there there is a stop sign or stoplight. That's not only good advice for today as well, but it highlights a certain folly of making it a police matter.. Sometimes, we have to be in a hurry to get somewhere quicker than following the safest routes... come to think of it, our police officers.. ambulance drivers, too, often break laws to get to an "emergency call". They.. and me too, feel it's OK in certain circumstances to taking a short cut (U-turns or driving the wrong way on a one way street, speeding, even California rolls at traffic signs/lights) or breaking a safety rule that may make a difference in another's life. Issuing a jaywalker a $200.00 ticket/fine is just a heavy-handed way to "tax" citizens and raise revenues for the City.. and it also takes a police officer off the streets to testify in Court who might be able to prevent another crime.

Talking about police reminded me of "donuts".. so I'm gonna talk about donuts...I had noticed my favorite local donuts had been getting smaller even though they were getting bigger in costs.. It's not just a local donut issue either. Recently, I "bought" some "FUNd Raiser" coupons for a publicly traded donut emporium, and when I "cashed one in", their donuts were even smaller.. I love donuts, but something has to change..I don't really mind paying a little more for a product I enjoy, but I hate paying MORE when the product itself has been 'down-sized' as well.

Remember how the Water Works.. in conjunction with then Mayor Frank "Walking Bridge" Martin, put a "gun" to our heads threatening the tripling of our the water rates if we didn't vote for a "bond issue" that would take care of ALL our water pipes and sewer pipe issues. Obviously all issues were not corrected. Looks like we taxpayers are going to get stuck again if there is an insurance shortage.
