Online story: "The school board in Republic, Mo., voted 4-0 to eliminate Kurt Vonnegut's "Slaughterhouse-Five" and Sarah Ockler's "Twenty Boy Summer" from the high school curriculum and library, respectively, after a local man led an effort to deem the novels inappropriate. * Of the members of the school board who voted on the issue last Monday, according to UPI, only one -- Melissa Duvall -- had actually read either of the books in question." -- Personally, I'd rather a school board rally against the TV and movie industries about the shows that graphically demonstrate teen sexual acceptance of sex being a normal part of the teen dating scene, and for glamorizing teen/unmarrieds-in-general pregnancies than going after any book. Reading anything, whether wholesome or not, does exercise young minds and creativity. In fact, having realistic books available may, no, probably will increase the students reading comprehension scores.

Remember HELL-thScare? That was the Senate bill orchestrated by Harry Reid and his super-majority DUMB&DUMBERats which Pelosi's House DUMB&DUMBERats passed without amendment/compromise because enough of Pelosi's D&D's were faltering (with subsequent conformation in Nov 2010) because of re-election concerns? Well, we don't need another Harry Reid unread DEBT-Scare bill getting to potUS O'Blather, and it looks like there may be some shaky knees among D&D Senators up for re-election in 2012. Pour on the heat!
---
There's an online story about making robots human.. in looks and in thoughts/actions. "In five or ten years robots will routinely be functioning in human environments," says Reid Simmons, a professor of robotics at Carnegie Mellon." -- Where's this bozo been.. we already have such robots..they're called DUMB&DUMBERat voters.
---
L-E headline: "Muscogee County Superior Court clerk’s office to build alcove by entrance" -- That's great timing...NOT! The Courthouse, which has practically shunned the public by closing down the garage and all but one of its five or so original entrances is building an interior traffic control station at the Superior Clerk's office... Why? With external access down to one entrance and foot traffic becoming a 'trickle', it's doubtful that there'll ever be more than 1 person at a time trying to access the Clerk's office.
---
L-E headline/story: "Authorities relax security measures at Columbus federal courthouse * Measures went into place after bin Laden’s death * John S______ of Columbus, who visits the post office twice a week, said he found the additional security to be superfluous. * “It seems like it wasn’t beneficial,” S______, 73, said Friday after leaving the post office. “I didn’t feel like it was the right thing to do. It’s much better now since they changed that.” -- Once again common sense and public input prove less government intrusion is best.
---
The "Kits 4 kids" program was right on target this year. It included a magician. Guess showing how education has become something you pull out of a hat.
---
Recent revelations inside the MCSD have made me come to one conclusion.. the federal government needs to cease and desist involvement in public schools. As it is, by the time $1.00 comes back to the local system, $4.00 has been spent in government circles just to get us our tax dollars back, but that $1.00 comes with more strings than violinist's bow. Programs of dubious need or effectiveness prevail, and local decisions (and dollars) are wrapped up in a spider's web of restrictions and hoops to jump through. Jimmy Carter, you started this!
---
L-E's "Quotable “I do not feel obliged to believe that the same God who has endowed us with sense, reason, and intellect has intended us to forgo their use.” Galileo Galilei Italian scientist (1564-1642) " -- Another insirational adage that you'll never see on the wall of a DUMB&DUMBERat or atheist.
---
L-E headline/story: "House probes counterfeit military electronics * WASHINGTON — Lawmakers from both parties are challenging the Department of Homeland Security over policies that they say impede efforts to stop imports of counterfeit electronics used in military devices. * The electronic chips, which act like the brain for many electronic devices, are one of the most counterfeited parts in the Pentagon’s supply chain, according to a Commerce Department report last year." -- Doh! If it's about national security, why are we importing anything involving our security from another country? How easy for it is a foreign company to 'trojan horse' some program/virus into something made in its home country that could initiate some critical command at the most inopportune time in our system?
---
L-E headline: "SCHOOLS MISSING OUT ON PROFIT FROM UNLICENSED MERCHANDISE * Spencer principal urges fans to purchase gear from school" -- What is it that makes educators think they know how to run a retail business? I'll guarantee that there's not one public school that is equipped to handle payroll, sales, inventory management, merchandising promotion, inventory control or bottom line profitability! Now, if it's part of the pie that the principal wants, the MCSD can copyright school names, and demand a sales % for using such like the NCAA does, but the only thing that will happen locally is that retailers will stop taking a chance of stocking local school marked inventory because either the increase will take away margins, boost the prices out of being competitive, or the additional cost of calculating and reporting such commissions will take the fun out of selling such merchandise.

Online story: "The government has $73.8B left before it hits the debt ceiling. But one US company has more cash right now." -- Would you believe...Apple has $75.9 Billion in cash reserves? While it would be easy to suggest potUS O'Blather swap jobs with Steve Jobs, how about O'Blather just hiring Jobs; that way he could cunningly lie that he has created Jobs, and an APPLE a day will keep the debtors away.
---
While accumulating $75.9 Billion in cash is particularly astonishing in today's financial atmosphere, it opens up to important questions: 1 - Why has the government let Apple accumulate that much cash instead of paying stockholders additional dividends which the government can double tax... again? and 3-2 - Do you the intellectual elitists feel cheated at how much they have overpaid for Apple Products that lets their idol accumulate that much profit margin?
---
Online story: "Hustler magazine publisher Larry Flynt said he is willing to pay Casey Anthony $500,000 to pose naked for his magazine. * If Anthony agreed to pose nude, Flynt said a portion of the profits earned from the sale of the magazine would go to abused children and abused children's shelters." -- What an (_@_)... Casey Anthony, too! Guess Flynt has a conscience after all, and wants to toss a few dollars towards children abused causes that he probably had a hand in causing.
---
After listening to our school system tell us how important it is that the schools be responsible for feeding children year round than it is to teach children the skills that will enable them to become adults with the ability to be responsible for their children. where are the video clips of the Reverend Jesse Jackson preaching "If you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day; if you teach him how to fish, you feed him for a lifetime."?
---
From a fellow BCer:
The English language has some wonderfully anthropomorphic collective
nouns for groups of animals......

There is a Pride of lions; a Murder of crows (as well as their cousins the rooks and ravens); a School of fish; an Exhaltation of doves and; presumably because they look so wise, a Parliament of owls.

Now consider the baboon. The loudest, most dangerous and viciously
aggressive of all primates. And what is the proper collective noun for a
group of baboons - a Congress. So, next time you hear the news out of
Washington DC.......

---

L-E headline: "HOUSE OKS DEBT-LIMIT BILL; SENATE REJECTS IT " -- Hmmm, how come it was OK for Harry Reid that no one read the HELL-thScare Bill before voting 'yes' on it, yet now he's flip-flopping about this bill?

---

In the L-E's "Today in History": "In 1975, former Teamsters union president Jimmy Hoffa disappeared in suburban Detroit; although presumed dead, his remains have never been found. " -- Hmmm, wonder it is because he had or didn't have union pallbearers?

---

L-E story: "UKIAH, Calif. — Law enforcement officials say they have struck a major blow against illegal marijuana cultivation on public lands in the heart of Northern California pot country. * U.S. Attorney Melinda Haag said Friday the two-week operation to purge the Mendocino National Forest of illicit pot gardens has uprooted 460,000 pot plants and led to more than 100 arrests." -- You have to wonder how long it took to plant 460,000 plants, and where were Park Rangers or other Fed agents doing that time?

---

Recent polls show that only about 75% of DUMB&DUMBERats think potUS O'Blather is doing a good job. Of course, 100% of those will vote for him again. And there are those who fell my reference to them as DUMB&DUMBERats is mean spirited and insensitive... yeah, right!

---

L-E headline: "Judge: It’s time to unseal Nixon’s Watergate testimony " -- Oh, has the media found out that potUS O'Blather's ongoing assaults on Bush43 are wearing thin on the American public, so now the media want to bring Nixon back and kick him some more?

---

I really don't understand why scrap metal dealers would even buy 'scrap copper' from an individual in these times. When the police check and find such a transaction has occurred, and the pieces of the puzzle fit to show the copper was stolen, the copper will be confiscated and the buyer is just out of the money he paid for it. That is how it works, DOESN'T IT?

---

I meant to write this yesterday while it was fresh, but I guess it will still beat the L-E: Senator McCain attacked the T.E.A. Party from the floor of the Senate. Does he not remember that if it weren't for the support of Palin by T.E.A. Party members and other Conservatives, McCain probably would have lost his presidential bid by the US history's largest margin. Apparently, McCain has 'crossed the aisle' once too often, and doesn't know how to get back.

---

L-E headline: "ROGER CLEMENS TRIAL * Clemens accuses prosecutors of provoking mistrial" -- You better believe it! What federal prosecutor wanted to get a conviction on a beloved baseball icon following the jury acquittal of Casey Anthony?

---

Nicolas Cage is starting to shoot a film based on an Alaskan serial killer who killed 17 women, and of raping another 30 over a 12/13 year period. He was convicted and sentenced to 431 years. Whew! Glad it was in Alaska rather than California, where he would already be released on parole, or Florida, where he'd probably been acquitted .

---

Here are two letters recently sent to the parties affected; neither has had a response for such parties:

First - To our legislative members et al:

L-E story: "ATLANTA — The University System of Georgia and its 35 colleges had about 20 lobbyists at the state Capitol during the legislative session this year, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported. * The newspaper said the system’s lobbyists were paid about $2.5 million last year. "
--
If true, this is an absolute disgrace, and criminal misuse of public funds.
Any UGA official affiliated with this situation should be fired, and criminally charged for his/her involvement. A situation that has lobbyist paid from public funds soliciting favorable decisions from officials paid with public funds to benefit any organization funded by public funds is intolerable!
Second - To the MCSD board et al:

Part of the problem (and a major problem, at that) is the school system's involvement in taking over parents' responsibility of feeding their children.

Children should know that parenting means being responsible for their children.

The school system has become a surrogate parent rather than an asset for the birth parents to educate the children in basic educational skills the children can use to become responsible parents themselves.

The school system thinks feeding children is more important than educating them the with skills (and the reasons) to be able to feed themselves, and their own children when they leave the school system.

Children need to know they are able, as well as educated. to be able, to be responsible citizens and parents as adults.

Making children dependent on the school system for subjects that should be learned at home is a problem the school system has cursed itself with, and this continued practice will continue, accelerate, and exacerbate the problem in the future.

L-E story: "A Russell County man convicted this year of stabbing a man and stealing his car was sentenced Thursday to 25 years in prison, prosecutors said." -- Just makes Casey Anthony's acquittal more heinous.
---
Come September, we'll see Richard Childs and Frank Martin sitting in the Lumpkin seats at the UGA football games.
---
L-E headline/story: "Mayor Tomlinson says promoter knew about ticket-taking * The promoter knew what was going on and tacitly agreed to former Director Dale Hester’s taking of the tickets in exchange for getting lower rent on the facility and its amenities, according to the mayor. " -- Well, if Mayor Mother Teresa knew/knows this then all the tickets should have been used to cover Civic Center costs. If they were given away to even Councilors, then a crime was committed; same if Hester swapped out tickets to friends or businesses for personal gain.
---
Since Mayor Mother Teresa seems to know what was going on at the Civic Center, when did she know it, and what did she know about what was going on in the Parks&Rec Department, and does she know anything about what is going on in the City Manager's office or the Fire Department or the Marshal's Office or the Sheriff's office?
---
Synovus has posted losses of over $3 Billion dollars over the past 12 quarters, and still has nearly $1 Billion in TARP money to repay. Whew!
---
Dense L-E "soundoff": "Republicans and Democrats alike take heed. This country revolted against tyrants once before. Someone please give me a third choice next November. " -- Who, another Ross Perot? Any major third party candidate will guarantee potUS O'Blather's re-election, just as Perot's entry guaranteed Bush 41 would lose, as no DUMB&DUMBERat voter is going to vote for a third choice of candidates.
If you don't like O'Blather nor any Republican candidate, just don't vote in that race, but what you do need to do is vote in every Congressional/Senate race you can.
---
Another misinformed "soundoff": "Our school district is more segregated today than ever before. Except now it’s more socioeconomic segregation than racial. And that is exactly why only schools like Columbus, Hardaway, Northside and Blackmon Road make AYP. " -- As was emphasized when I was in school, even when my father (and probably his) was in school, Abraham Lincoln self-taught himself by reading by firelight in a simple log cabin. No matter whether the teachers are skilled and caring, or the parents are economically handicapped, a good education is there for all to achieve. It does take encouragement, though, and that's what's missing in the educational cycle. When students are socially promoted, or testing formats are 'dumbed-down', or every kid gets a diploma (or youth sports trophy) simply because he/she 'participated' has watered down the incentive of children to better themselves, to seek personal achievement. Schools should concentrate on building strong basic math, ENGLISH, and history foundations in the classrooms ...again, and let the children's personal interests determine the other aspects they pursue.
---
How ironic... potus O'Blather announced the end of the NASA/Shuttle program, and within days of the last shuttle flight, Russia .announced it was going to bring the International Space Station down to Earth... actually, down to the Pacific Ocean. JFK no longer rests-in-peace.
---
L-E headline: "GOP leaders put off vote on debt " -- DUMB&DUMBERats and mainstream media look at this as a "win", but it's only a delay while more teeth are added to the bill.
Lets hope the Republicans keep their eyes on the future. They are not going to win any D&D's over in the General elections anyway, so concentrate on serving America's Conservative and true Independent citizens.
---
L-E's "Quotable": “It is legal because I wish it.” Louis XIV French monarch (1638-1715) " -- Aha! Now we know why potUS O'Blather is so mobilized to emulate the French government style!. Come to think of it, this citing has probably been painted on the walls of the Oval Office, and this is why we never see potUS O'Blather address the nation from his desk.
---
L-E headline: "Fukudome traded to Cleveland " -- Ooops, my bad. Thought Miami had swapped the Heat's arena with the Cavs as part of the LeBron James deal.
---
Wow! The first time unemployment claims dropped to "only" 398,000 persons last week. Hmmm, that means, on average, only $2.7 million more jobs may be lost over the next 12 months. O'Blather just sits there smiling; he don't do nuthin...his plan is working even though millions who want to work aren't.

Online story: "Los Angeles, he nation's second-largest city decided Wednesday to shut down its traffic enforcement cameras because the program is losing $1.5 million a year. There also were questions about whether the tactic actually saves lives * The City Council's decision was expected after the Police Commission voted to drop the program, which had ticketed more than 180,000 drivers since 2004. * Councilman Bill Rosendahl said the contract was costing Los Angeles $1.5 million a year because many people ignored the citations. * Council members blamed the losses on the refusal of the Los Angeles County Superior Court to force drivers to pay up. * "The courts do not process, the courts do not hold people responsible," Zine said. * Drivers who sign moving-violation citations issued on the scene by police officers promise to deal with the ticket, but the photo tickets were mailed to the registered owner of the vehicle caught on camera. Those owners never made such a promise and might not have been behind the wheel when the photo was taken. * An audit by City Controller Wendy Greuel last year concluded the program has not "conclusively shown to have increased public safety." * Some studies have concluded that red-light cameras increase the number of rear-end collisions as drivers slam on the brakes at intersections or scoot through at high speed to avoid a ticket." -- A little wordy start for today, but as this is (or has been) being discussed locally, and thought this situation has not been included in presentations by concerned parties.
---
With the CBO designating Boehner's Bill as minimalist in budget savings over the next 10 years, why didn't potUS O'Blather jump on accepting it as a symbol of his bipartisanship and eagerness to do good for all the taxpayers? Probably because he didn't actually read the bill to begin with...just as with his HELL-thScare bill, too.
---
Online story: "AUSTIN, Texas - U.S. Customs and Border Protection inspectors returned 33 Mexican soldiers on Tuesday who inadvertently crossed over the Rio Grande river into Texas, authorities said. * The soldiers, packed into four Humvees, crossed over the Donna-Rio Bravo International Bridge into south Texas at around 2 p.m., said Felix Garza, a spokesman for CBP in Pharr, Texas. * "They crossed the boundary line on the bridge" -- "imaginary line on the bridge"? Since potUS O'Blather and most of the citizens of Mexico don't acknowledge there is a border, the Mexican soldiers probably just thought Texas was part of their patrol area.

Online headline: "Greece's Credit Rating Downgraded Again" -- What are 'they' going to do, make'em change the name to "Grease"?
---
Online headline: "China: U.S. Debt Crisis Is Giving Democracy A Bad Name" -- Guess it is confusing for the rest of the world to have to understand the difference between Democracy and Obamaism. Of course, if we were more like China, there would be no DUMB&DUMBERats to vote for the self-entitlements which have created this mess.
---
Passed on from another BCer: " The problems we face today are there because the people who work for a living are outnumbered by those who vote for a living" -- That's definitely something China cannot relate to.

---

The Parks&Rec scandal....it just goes on and on taking toll on new lives.
---
When potUS O'Blather was riding high on media support, he actually told Republican Congresspersons that they needed to move to the back of the bus. The media let him off scot free on his racially derisive comment. While he was campaigning for the presidency, he literally threw his grandmother 'under the bus'. The media let him off scot free. But, wait until the voters kick him off the bus in 2012, and the media will be screaming 'racism'!
---
Mercedes-Benz of Columbus ads says it will give you (an insulting offer of) $4,000.00 in trade-in for your BMW, Lexus, or Porsche towards an new M or C Class Mercedes. What gall! We'll never buy another Mercedes, but why would anyone with a BMW, Lexus, or Porsche want to trade it in on an inferior vehicle?
---
When Harry Reid tells the media that every Senate DUMB&DUMBERat will vote against any bill sent over from the House before he or any other D&D has read it, then I think the media should refrain from ever talking about lack of Republican bipartisan spirit.
---
Ever hear those ads telling us to be prepared for austerity and chaos by buying vegetable (unengineered, non-hybrid type) seeds? I'm curious...even if a have a ton of seeds at hand when chaos hits, how will that help me at the time? Won't I have to plant, farm, and wait for harvest season before my family and I could benefit from having them on hand? Wouldn't we probably starve to death long before the crops come in? Just a thought...
---
Just curious, but looking at the baseball trades involving local players, why would any player be happy to get away from a manager who is 1 of only 2 managers in baseball history to manage to win World Series titles in both Leagues?
---
Donald C. Bowman.. we salute you and all the other Rangers selected to be enshrined into the Ranger Hall of Fame. Of special note is Ranger Bowman is the uncle of one of our BCers.
---
Liberal L-E "soundoff": "It should be plain to everyone now who the Republicans are for. I am a senior citizen and I’ll never vote for a Republican again. " -- Wow! A threat from someone who has never voted for a Republican in his/her life.
---
L-E story: "WASHINGTON — Rural America now accounts for just 16 percent of the nation’s population, the lowest ever." -- Hmmm this explains why more rural counties voted for McCain in 2008, and why big cities voted for potUS O'Blather.. did anyone hear O'Blather promise any entitlements for rural counties?
---
potUS O'Blather's spokesperson, Jay Carney could have effectively countered Fox's Ed Henry just by confirming that potUS O'Blather has written a plan of his own that addresses the debt ceiling, balanced budget and spending cut issues. It was that simple, but he couldn't do it.
---
L-E story: "JUNEAU, Alaska -- A federal wildlife biologist whose observation in 2004 of presumably drowned polar bears in the Arctic helped to galvanize the global warming movement has been placed on administrative leave and is being investigated for scientific misconduct, possibly over the veracity of that article." -- "possibly over the veracity of that article"? Let's see, presumably he is not being investigated over the possibility that the article was truthful.

From another BCer, to explain how DUMB&DUMBERats 'think':

From Hyatt column in L-E: "William Anthony Brooks is eligible for parole. To keep him in prison, write the State * Board of Pardons and Parole, 2 MLK Jr. Drive, Atlanta, GA 30334. Reference Case No. EF-137251" -- I still remember when already obnoxious Steve Beverly, a WTVM 'reporter', insanely tried to imply that Brooks possibly had a hidden relationship with Jeannine Galloway based on some scar tissue on Brooks' shoulder being the initials "JG". WTVM dumped him shortly afterward.
---
Obviously, at least one of the vehicles in the Marshal's Office needs some basic maintenance. Around 5:00 PM yesterday, I was passed by said vehicle, and as he continued on, I observed him switching lanes multiple times without indicating a lane change. I tried to get closer so I could get his car number, but the distance between us widened further as we headed north to the JR Allen Bypass. As I'm sure the Marshal's Office doesn't tolerate its staff casually breaking traffic laws, I had to figure that his turn signals must be malfunctioning, and his speedometer needs to be recalibrated.
---
I'm beginning to believe no one at Krystal has any math degree. Single Krystal Burgers (w/o cheese) are $ .69, but Krystal advertises (and will charge you) you can buy '4 for $2.79. If you want 4, order them separately and save.
---
Oregon is considering paying for obesity oriented surgeries as a possible cost saver for long term medical care. What a liberal legislators dream! Can't you imagine Oregon DUMB&DUMBERats running for re-election campaigning on 'cutting the fat' out of the budget?
---
Have you seen the TV ad where 3 seniors redress Congressmen for considering cutting $100 million from Medicare/Medicaid? It's obviously a DUMB&DUMBERat ploy aimed at the Republican bill, but you have to ask yourself, Where were these seniors when potUS O'Blather's "HELL-thScare" bill was being rammed through the DUMB&DUMBERat Congress with $500 million in cuts for Medicare/Medicaid?
---
Pathological.... it was thrown out as a condition of POTUS Clinton, and now it's being suggested for potUS O'Blather, but I disagree. Pathological means it's a disease or condition, and that may have been true of Clinton, but it's not with O'Blather. No, O'Blather's lying is intentional, it's part of his agenda, not just a way to cover up or excuse a past indiscretion.
---
The scariest realization with the debt ceiling 'crisis' is that it seems neither the DUMB&DUMBERats nor the liberal media has a clue about debt service. Whether the debt ceiling is raised now or not at all, the US government takes in over $200 BILLION monthly in revenues, and T-bills (the 'debt service' tool) get a priority status for payment. What is going on is no different from a bank suspending your credit card when you go over a set limit. The bank doesn't say you are in default as long as you make the minimum payments, the bank just says you're going to have to pay your debt balance down a bit before it will let you add more debt on it. The bank doesn't want you to go under; just get control of your debt. That's Boehner's story, and I hope he's sticking to it.
---
The Ryan bill/budget...potUS O'Blather said, "NO!"; the McConnell bill..potUS O'Blather said, "NO!"; the Boehner bill, O'Blather says, "NO!". Once again, the DUMB&DUMBERats show they are the "party of "No!" and the Republicans are the "party of know"!
---
Random thought triggered by a joke sent by a fellow BCer: After potUS O'Blather leaves office, he can start his own one-man version of "The Wizard of Oz". He can actually make budget cuts because he can play the brainless Scarecrow, the cowardly Lion, and the heartless Tin Man roles all by himself.
---
From L-E story: "One current project is the placing of a new roof on Britt David Magnet Academy. The project, with a cost of around $522,000, has a projected completion date of Nov. 25. Work that began in June is on schedule. * The old roof doesn’t leak so that is not a concern. * The new roof at Britt David will be much different from the current one. The school had a built-up style roof which, while not completely flat, appears that way, There is asphalt and gravel. The new roof is a retro-fit metal roof. It is a standing-seam roof which will have a much steeper slope. Passers-by will notice peaks." -- Putting a secondary roof over the existing roof doesn't bode well for the future if the original roof is not removed in the process. A secondary roof will act like a greenhouse for any moisture, whether it be water or roofing chemicals breaking down as the area becomes sealed in where evaporation and circulation become non-existent.
---
One thing for sure, Council must insist that the Civic Center come up with set plans/rates for using the Civic Center. All one time use requests should be the same for every vendor, and if a vendor wants a discount to schedule multiple events over a period of time, there should be a set plan so all vendors are treated the same. In addition, Council should ban the practice of 'freebee' tickets being requested by or offered to the Civic Center.
---
L-E headline/story: "Report: Drug plan saves costs * CHICAGO — A new study suggests that Medicare’s 5-year old prescription drug plan is keeping seniors out of hospitals and nursing homes, saving the federal program an estimated $12 billion a year in those costs." -- Don't get your hopes up; the report is out of Chicago, and when have you ever been able to trust anything, anyone, 'out of Chicago'?
---
When people excuse educational catastrophes based on economic disparity, it does no good for anyone. Education is available for everyone who takes advantage of any opportunity to help themselves. One has to look no further, no deeper, than the well-established, well-documented stories of Abraham Lincoln studying, educating himself, by the light of a fire in his family's log cabin.
---
L-E story: "ATLANTA — The University System of Georgia and its 35 colleges had about 20 lobbyists at the state Capitol during the legislative session this year, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported. * The newspaper said the system’s lobbyists were paid about $2.5 million last year. " -- This is an absolute disgrace, and criminal misuse of public funds. Any UGA official affiliated with this situation should be fired, and criminally charged for his/her involvement. A situation that has lobbyist paid from public funds soliciting favorable decisions from officials paid with public funds to benefit any organization funded by public funds is intolerable!

L-E headline: "Obama: Halt ‘3-ring circus’ of debate " -- And Emperor O'Bozo is the clown.
---
Breakfast Club Special Announcement: Name change! President Obama, previously identified as POTUs Obama, potUS Obama, Ali Obama and his 40 Tsars, President Nero-bama, potUS O'Bama, and most recently, Emperor O'Bozo will now be called potUS O'Blather... for obvious reasons.
---
After more thought on yesterday's L-E story: "The bitter legal wrangling between Columbus and Expedia continued last week as the city (actually, the law firm representing the City) filed an amended lawsuit in the five-year-old case, seeking attorneys’ fees for the prolonged litigation and accusing the online travel company of breach of trust for failing to pay thousands of dollars in occupancy taxes." -- Hmmm, wanna bet the lawyers are more interested in getting more legal fees than they are at Columbus getting more 'back taxes"?
---
Council is denying Mike Blackwell's $26,000.00 claim based on the fact that that the Civic Center had given him other discounts of nearly $72,000.00. ....Looks like another issue is bigger than the obvious one...if "we" (taxpayers) have a facility that is desired for use, then why are 'we' giving "discounts" to begin with? It's not like the Civic Center has been a 'profit center', but why should 'we' operate it at a loss? There has been a drive to charge youth teams fees to use taxpayer facilities (and that is more than reasonable), so why does Council put up with operating the Civic Center in such a sloppy manner? Why are 'we' letting Council do this!
---
I'm beginning to suspect potUS O'Blather is playing a game of 'wag the dog' with the debt ceiling non-crisis. Social Security has over $2.4 TRILLION dollars worth of US Government bonds credited to its 'account', and could sell those off to cover SS checks, but potUS O'Blather diverts attention of the 'gun running' snafu divised by Holder and him by keeping the media headlines focused on scaring Seniors.
---
potUS O'Blather says there is a 'debate' going on concerning the 'debt ceiling crisis'. Excuse me potUS O'Blather, but a 'debate' is only valid when two sides have opposing stances on an issue. All we've heard from you is that you hate what Boehner is saying.
---
If potUS O'Blather wants more money to spend, tyhen let him start by collecting the $1.3 BILLION dollars of the bailout money given "Old Chrysler" from the "New Chrysler".
---
potUs O'Blather thinks taxing corporate jets would solve his money woes. In reality, I doubt any new taxes on corporate jets would generate as much savings as just parking his personal AF1 , and flying commercial for his vacations.
---
Our Treasury Tsar Geithner is on TV claiming the Republicans are 'playing politics' with the debt ceiling negotiations...well, he and poyUS O'Blather, and the DUMB&DUMBERat leaders not only are 'playing politics' as well, they are also 'playing possum'.
---
Hillary Clinton 'is sure' Congress will 'do the right thing', BUT isn't it more of a question of whether the DUMB&DUMBERat Senate can do 'the right thing' (rather than its normal propensity to do 'the left thing).
---
The Norway Bomber has left a 'manifesto' that plagiarizes 'The Unabomber's (Ted Kaczynski) Manifesto' EXCEPT, the Norway Bomber has rewritten the Kaczynski description of 'leftism' as either 'multi-culturism' or 'communism'; and he's right! Wonder if he mailed a copy to potUS O'Blather before he blew up Oslo? Sad thing is that he might get awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in Oslo next year if the 'committee' uses the same criteria as it used for O'Blather.
---
From my daily receipt from "Inspiring Quote":"The greatest mistake you can make in life is to continually be afraid you will make one." - Elbert Hubbard " -- This was probably true at one time, but nowadays, the greatest mistake you can make in life is to believe or re-elect a DUMB&DUMBERat.

Online headline: "NFL, players have agreed to deal" -- Well, fancy that... just after July preseason work out days have run out.

I was asked about Amy Winehouse's death. It speaks for itself...death, like her life, was simply sad in every way.

L-E headline: " Clayton County, Ga. considers tax increase * Clayton County is considering a 34 percent property tax rate increase in an attempt to prevent a deficit of up to $30 million." -- Don't you know there are some Clayton Countians looking up the Columbus 'tax-freeze' legislation as we speak!
---
L-E headline: "Obama courts Hispanics’ votes, blames Republicans" -- But not necessarily in that order.
---
From a liberal 'letter' in the L-E: "Tea Partiers, please, if you want to keep our taxes as low as possible, please raise this debt limit. While you pledge to save us a penny, we’re about to lose many pounds. " -- Uncle Remus could have written this as a lead in to Br'er Rabbit 'begging' Br'er Bear and Br'er Fox to 'please, don't throw me into that there briar patch'. Libs just cannot comprehend that raising the debt ceiling without balancing the budget, and beginning a plan to reduce the debt is simply raising taxes on their children and grandchildren. Why is it libs feel debt raising is 'compassion' for the needy, and yet ignore that they are penalizing their own children and grandchildren?
---
L-E story: "TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The University of Alabama has told a local store to stop selling items signed by current athletes, which is a potential violation of NCAA rules. * The NCAA prohibits using the likeness or name of a current college athlete to promote a product or service." -- Yeah... like the NCAA really tries hard to keep Sports Illustrated et al from putting players names/pictures on their covers to promote sales of the magazines.

This has been around a while, but a fellow BCer just sent this to me again:

Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it.
---
From the "it's not one world" department - Online story: "KABUL, Afghanistan -- Insurgents in southern Afghanistan hanged an 8-year-old boy six days after they abducted him, the Afghan government said Sunday. * The boy's captors had demanded that his father, a police officer, supply them with a police vehicle and he refused, said a statement from President Hamid Karzai's office. The militants hanged the boy Friday in Helmand province's Gereshk district." -- And we wonder what would go through the mind of terrorist suicide bombers.
---
Another from the "it's not one world" department - Online story: "A 15-year-old boy has died and eight people wounded in a shooting at a backyard birthday party. * Stockton, CA police say at least one person in an adjoining backyard opened fire on a group of people attending the party around 11 p.m. Saturday." -- Did I just note this was in California? We have got to take back our country.
---
Online story: "PORTLAND, Ore. — House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi Sunday called for an ethics panel investigation of Rep. David Wu following a published allegation that a young woman reported he'd engaged in "aggressive and unwanted sexual behavior." -- Rumor has it a support group has been founded, "We Wuv Woo, Wu".
---
L-E headline: "Columbus files new lawsuit against Expedia" -- Hmmm, it's 6:00 AM....does Mayor Mother Teresa Obamalinson know where her husband is?
---
From above story: "Wally Walker, an attorney for the city (actually, Pope, McGlamry, Kilpatrick, Morrison & Norwood who represents the city), pointed the finger at Expedia in recent court filings. “These hourly fee lawyers are monetarily incentivized to continue this assault on the judicial system,” he said of Expedia’s request that Boswell intervene, “and they have a client willing to pay them to do so.” -- Oh.. those wascally wabbits! This sounds a little like a bit of profession jealousy... who'd stoop to actually paying its lawyers by the hour instead of a contingency fee?!
---
L-E story: "(Roy) Martin, a bicyclist who enjoys riding on the Riverwalk, called (the Ledger Inquirer) to report problems at two of its restroom facilities. He said the urinals in the men’s rooms at Rotary Park and at Oxbow Meadows won’t flush completely. * “On really hot days, it gets very odorous,” he said." -- Sounds like a case of 'Mayor Mother Teresa Obamalinson's Revenge'... she couldn't save money by going to once a week garbage pickups, so she's decided to see if she can save money bu going to 'once a week flushings' at public facilities.
---
Though not an 'ear witness', I was told by a 'reliable source' who was at attendance at the Denim & Diamonds concert Saturday night, that Jamey Johnson dropped the "F-bomb", loud and clear, as he was leaving the stage. Lotta class...NOT; especially at a family oriented fund raiser for Hospice.
---

Judy F. Brouillette...what can we say... She'd be the perfect poster child at a Ripley's "Believe it or not" symposium on undefinable logic. Even Maxwell Smart couldn't get a chuckle if he said... Would you believe she's an officer of the local Democrat Party...it would make to much sense.
---
L-E headline: "ATLANTA SCHOOLS CHEATING SCANDAL *Hearing focuses on ouster of school board members " -- Is a cheating scandal really any worse than the scandal of the poor results in our own schools?

---
L-E headline: "Colleges on spending spree despite economy * Gone from $5.4 billion in 2007 to projected $7 billion this year; spending includes buildings, technology, football" -- This will be another scandal! With the changes in the HOPE Scholarship requirements, the number of students who can qualify for the full HOPE payout will drop fast, and many students' parents will not be able (or even desirous) of paying the steep fees for the tuition, much less the inflated 'fees' being charged per quarter/semester for campuses to build 'fluff' facilities like the 'student activities building' recently opened at CSU et al. There's also the likelihood, actually probability, that actual student population will decrease while the campuses are counting on a continued growth to keep more 'fee money' coming in.

Online headline: "Chicago's Park Hyatt turns on heat lamps on picketing unionized employees" -- First, I thought I'd found my hotel of choice should I ever return to Chicago, but, then the Hotel apologized for doing so.

What is the main difference between potus Clinton and Emperor O'Bozo? Clinton is a liar; Emperor O'Bozo is a manipulative liar. This past week, Emperor O'Bozo issued an op-ed piece saying that Bill O'Reilly agreed with him that any 'deal' on the debt ceiling needed to have tax increases. Bill O'Reilly responded in a manner that gave too much respect for the office that Emperor O'Bozo deserves. O'Reilly 'denied' his support of new taxes, but almost apologized for O'Bozo possibly thinking he'd said something he had misinterpreted. O'Reilly should have just stood up and yelled, "YOU LIE!".'
---
Campus Crusade for Christ has changed its name. It decided to drop "Christ" from its name, and become just "Cru". Why? 'Cause the current 'leaders' of Campus Crusade for Christ felt some could be turned off because Christ was in the name. Maybe a better name for it would be "The organization of Doubting Thomases". Anyway, it won't be on my annual Christmas Card list of charities.
---
L-E headline/story: "After poor AYP report, Muscogee County School District plans to ways to improve test scores * Ann Robison, principal of Hannan Elementary Magnet Academy, agrees. She said her students performed at the same level as last year, when they met AYP. This year, they did not. * “They just keep raising the bar,” she said." -- And it's right 'they' should! If the goal is to get every student qualified for a Hope Scholarship, 'the bar' MUST be raised early in student education, and pushed higher every year.
---
Related item: "James Walker, a member of the Muscogee County School Board, thinks one way to improve scores might be to increase the observation of teachers in the classroom." * “We want to make sure that they are doing things the right way,” he said. “We need to do more mentoring of principals and teachers.” -- Oh, we already have too many MCSD employees compared to other systems (and compared to our own system of 20 years ago - we had 32,000 student & 5,000 employess in 1990, and 32,000 students and 6,200 employees last year), and board member Walker can only come up with adding more unnecessary employees to the payroll?
---
From the L-E's "Council Agenda - Purchases": "In-service training workshop services for community school program (annual contract) – It is requested that council authorize the execution of a contract with Kennesaw State University (Kennesaw) to provide various required in-service training workshops for Parks and Recreation Community Schools Program personnel." -- Does CSU not offer the same service?????????
---
From above: "Emergency purchase of air conditioning system at Tillis Gymnasium -- It is requested that council approve payment to Energy Savers of Georgia (Columbus), in the amount of $46,170, for the emergency purchase of an air conditioning system for Tillis Gymnasium." -- Huh? Seems to me that if it is an 'emergency', only a unit would qualify as an emergency. A system replacement should be processed normally and competitively bid.
---
From WRBL report: "Opelika didn't consider 3rd minority council ward * Under the proposed ward map, wards 1 and 2 would retain their black majorities, while wards 3, 4 and 5 would continue to have white majorities." -- What has happened to Dr M.L. King;s 'dream' that people be judged on their character and not the color of their skin? Intentionally drawing wards/districts along color lines is modern day segregationism; it's like a return visit to the 19th Century when our Native Americans were relegated to 'reservations' (segregated districting).
---
Under the chaos of the CRCT scores, it's ironic, no, comic, that Susan Andrews gives Mayor Mother Teresa Obamalinson a grade of "A" for a midterm grade. Now is that an "A" from the grading evaluation of the past, or an "A" based on current CRCT equivalencies?
---
L-E story: "MACON — Law officers in central Georgia are training by opening fire on a robot that zigs and zags like an outlaw — and even shoots back at them. " -- 3 questions: How much? Who provided the funds? and Why?
---
From the City Attorney's Agenda: "Second readings — Property at 5256 Armour Road is proposed for rezoning from NC (Neighborhood Commercial)/ LMI (Light Manufacturing Industrial) to GC (General Commercial) zoning district. (Gibson) (Councilor C.E. “Red” McDaniel). The proposed use is for a tattoo, piercing studio and dentist office." -- What kinda dental work...diamond implants?
---
L-E headline: "Leaders seek agreement to calm fears of stock plunge " -- More Emperor O'Bozo 'scare tactics'. The 'market' being so aware of the situation would be making decisions to sell before the news, not after it. It's pretty much already built into the market.
---
L-E headline/story: " It’s time to improve educational opportunities for all * If Britt David and Columbus High are such runaway successes, then why haven’t the academic programs been rolled out to other schools? " -- A 'big AMEN", brother Kieta. It's about time the L-E awakens from its normally hypnotic trance. School vouchers will be the quickest way to attain better public schools, and Principals being held accountable for their schools' progress (with ability to hire and fire teachers at the Principal's discretion) will determine the viability.
---
L-E's "Quotable" : “Negotiations are a euphemism for capitulation if the shadow of power is not cast across the bargaining table.” - George Schultz Former U.S. secretary of state (1920- ) -- Hopefully, John Boehner has Schultz for a mentor.
---
L-E editorial headline/content: "Where does whole school system get remedial classes? * People who insist that schools need to get back to educational basics and away from what they consider social engineering, are often the same ones who hold schools responsible for improving a community’s parenting skills. * None of which comes close to explaining or excusing a report like this. Public schools everywhere deal with underfunding, poverty and family dysfunction." -- The problem is not actually with the parents. Like our government, school officials are TRYING to take over being the parents. Busing takes the parents out of being responsible for getting their children to schools, and year round feeding programs absolve parents from being responsible for feeding their children. Then , these children grow up to be parents and the cycle continues.
---
Additional comment: Bottom line is that no collapse of this sort happen in one school year. There needs to be an extensive audit/investigation of previous years' scoring to see if any scandal has gone unreported. Not too many yearts ago, the Principal at Rigdon Road School was championed because of her school's remarkable testing scores. Then, all of a sudden, she resigns, and there were quiet mumblings of maybe there was something askew with those scores, but nothing was done about it. The proof in the pudding is that if the scores she was credited with for achieving were real, the consequent years should have reflected that good foundation. That didn't happen.
---
The main problem in the school system is that so many small problems have been bundled up into a 'ball of string' type holding pattern that no one knows how to unravel it to get to the core reasons. Time is now to literally "start over" from scratch. Make the MCSD Board and Superintendent draw up a new business plan, and then make all teachers/administrators/employees job descriptions be result focused, and then make all existing teachers/administrators/employees re-apply for a position within the MCSD system.
---
Have you noticed that Emperor O'Bozo has been hesitant to throw out the word "investment" as a code word for taxes recently? Probably because "his investment" of our tax dollars in Chrysler have been recently acknowledged to be losing $1.3 billion dollars. Also of note, the Union portion of the ownership in FIASCO (Chrysler-Fiat) will not have to write off any of that loss.

Online story: "President Obama, speaking at a press conference at the White House, told reporters that Boehner would not return his phone calls. "I've been left at the altar now a couple of times," Obama said. * "It is hard to understand why Speaker Boehner would walk away from this kind of deal," Obama said. "Can they say yes to anything?" -- Yes, Emperor O'Bozo, Speaker Boehner has said, "Yes, American taxpayers, I am listening." The real question is can Emperor O'Bozo make the same statement?
---
Oxymoronic online headline": "17 Pics of Nancy Pelosi's Style"
---
Poser: If 47% of Americans do not pay income taxes, why are they included in the number of Americans categorized as 'taxpayers'? If 100% of Americans who pay income taxes are the only taxpayers, then if you don't pay income taxes, you are not "American".
---
With 300+ million people in the census, and let's say 47% (141,000,000) pay some income tax, then there are 159,000,000 or so who aren't paying income tax. If all who don't pay any income tax were to be assessed $200.00 a year ($3.85 a week), there would be an additional $31,800,000,000.00 collected annually and everyone would feel they are actually a part of the American dream, and we'd have a lesser budget problem.
---
Looking at the catastrophic AYP collapse from last year's report, no wonder twice as many more students applied to CHS' magnet program than were spots available.
---
One way to really evaluate the CRCT problem is to reassign all students not in magnet programs to their true neighborhood schools, and fine parents who do not meet with their children's teacher(s) at least twice a year, then rotate entire teaching staffs to different schools every two years or so. The teacher rotation would be an excellent way to evaluate each teacher's performance.
---
When all is said and done about the catastrophic AYP scores, the MCSD can proudly point at the new Education Building and say, "We built this.".
---
Why are the media claiming Speaker Boehner walked out on Emperor O'Bozo? What does the media expect...for Boehner to listen to O'Bozo or O'Bozo to listen to the message from the American voters?

-- How does a "collapse" like this happen in 12 months? Was there a CRCT cheating scandal uncovered last year in Muscogee County that wasn't reported? Let's sic John Redmond on to this for an audit!

From the "only in California" department - Online headline/story: "California Prison Hunger Strike Ends * e hunger strike was not related to living conditions and instead focused on the specific treatment of certain groups of offenders." -- Proof of "inmates running the prison", and it sounds like they may have been SEIU union members.
---
Online headline/story: "Treasury: US Taxpayers Stand To Lose Staggering Sum From Chrysler... * In May, the new Chrysler fully repaid its bailout loans. * But the United States is likely to lose $1.3 billion that it had lent to the old Chrysler, Treasury said in a statement on Thursday. " -- How can this be...oh! the UAW 'health care trust owns over 40% of Chrysler-Fiat (a.k.a. "Fiasco"). Once again, Emperor O'Bozo bends over and plants a big one on the UAW's backside.
---
Since unwIsaiah Hugley claims he doesn't/didn't know anything about any of the many departments that have been revealed as problems, how about a sworn statement that he hasn't received free tickets to any of the Civic Center events.
---
Speaking of the practice of commandeering tickets at events at the Civic Center, shouldn't it be that 'if' the 'free tickets' are part of the compensation package for using the facility, why aren't the tickets used to bring in revenue to the Civic Center? Giving the tickets away to anyone is basically "theft of services".

L-E headline: "Judge Allen gives Michael Curry three consecutive life sentences" -- Well, we can pray and hope he lives long enough to serve them all!

Another 418,000 new unemployment claims yesterday for the previous week. Hmmm, that's an annual rate of over 21,000,000. Since the unemployed are more than likely going to vote for DUMB&DUMBERats, it's becoming more obvious that Emperor O'Bozo's primary re-election strategy is to keep from creating new jobs in the private sector.

L-E headline/story: "Man mighty helpful during his arrest for marijuana possession * A Columbus man stopped Wednesday for allegedly running a red light told police he’d just smoked marijuana, reports state. * Tyrone Davis Thomas, 24, is charged with possession of marijuana, failure to exhibit license and a red light violation, police said.
-- and what about the "DUI" charge?
---
L-E headline/story: "Georgia execution: Andrew DeYoung dies in controversial videotaped lethal injection * Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal said it was up to the courts to decide the matter, though he told reporters following a news conference Thursday he had “grave reservations” about videotaping executions" -- Well, this should prove to the nay-sayers that Governor Deal does have a fine sense of humor, and can be very punny when needed.
---
L-E headline: "Only 18 of 55 Muscogee County schools meet adequate yearly progress" -- Hope this wasn't one of the "bright spots" about Columbus Governor Deal highlighted, BUT, on the other hand, 18 out of 50 may be the best in the state after looking at the Atlanta cheating scandal. This just adds more fuel to the fact that the MCSD is more interested in displacing parents as role models for their children by having a summer eating program rather than a summer reading program.
---
L-E headline: "DA Julia Slater, victim's family express relief after Michael Curry gets 3 life terms for brutal bush-ax murders * Bush-ax killer must serve 30 years before he’s eligible for parole." -- Though the probability is low, the fact that Curry 'may see the light of day' again, has to weigh heavy on the Johnsons. Hope the Johnson's saga can be effectively recorded and be shown in any parole process in the future.
---
L-E headline/story: "MUSCOGEE COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT * SCHOOL DISTRICT GETS ‘UGLY’ AYP REPORT * Only 33% of county’s schools meet federal benchmarks, down from 77% last year * “We expected an ugly report and we got it,” said Muscogee County School Superintendent Susan Andrews." -- While her honesty is unexpectedly refreshing, how can she "expect" such results, but not have been doing something to prevent such results? Only in baseball batting averages is a 33% success ratio considered 'successful'.
---
Liberal "soundoff": "Obama should have stormed out of the room. Those pinhead Tea Bag freshmen are so drunk with imagined power they think that they are the Lord’s own anointed! L-E story: "LONDON — James Murdoch’s former legal adviser and a former editor contested the testimony he gave Tuesday to British lawmakers, saying Thursday he was told years ago about an e-mail that suggested the rot at his Sunday tabloid was far more widespread than previously claimed." -- OK, you BC legal eagles, isn't there some failure in the system of client/lawyer confidentiality here?
---
L-E story: "MUNICH — The remains of Rudolf Hess, one of Adolf Hitler’s closest aides, have been exhumed and his grave destroyed to end neo-Nazi pilgrimages, it was announced Thursday. * The removal of Hess’s body from a cemetery in the small Bavarian town of Wunsiedel took place Wednesday morning, a church official, Peter Seisser, said, confirming newspaper reports. Hess’s remains were to be burnt and the ashes scattered at sea. In the 24 years since Hess’s death the grave had become the site of regular demonstrations by far-right extremists. The lease on the grave runs out this year, and the church where the cemetery is located has refused to extend it. " -- 'The LEASE on the grave runs out this year"? Most of have known that the 'taxes' aspect of the 'only known certainties of life are", but who knew 'death' would also be removed from the "two certainties"? If you're buying yourself a grave site soon, you better check out the eviction clause.

At the same time, do you think you will everwalk into an Electric Power Company office in the heat of summer and find its thermostat set on 78 or 80?

Online story: "On today's (Wednesday) 'GMA,' correspondent Dan Harris sat down with Paris Hilton to discuss her prospects as other celebrities like the Kardashians take an ever-increasing share of the spotlight. "Paris Hilton was the first, the original celebutante, practically the inventor of that thoroughly modern phenomenon: Being famous for being famous," Harris explains. "Do you worry at times that the people who have followed in your footsteps, like Kim Kardashian, are overshadowing you?" he asks in the interview. To which Paris replies, "No, not at all." * However, as he continues this line of questioning, Paris stands up and walks out. "What followed was a long, heated conversation with Hilton and her publicist," Harris explains. Afterwards, Paris cooled off and finished the interview, saying that it's always important to find ways to "reinvent yourself." -- "reinvent" herself? What as, a recycled trash reality show?

Online headline: President Obama Fined For Not Paying Congestion Charge In London " -- So much for improved diplomatic relations from his 'apology tour'. Of course, it could be in retaliation for Emperor O'Bozo's cheesy gifts of an iPod full of his speeches, or the DVD collection that doesn't play on European TVs. Oh, and let's not forget the insult of sending the bust of Winston Churchill back to England!

Liberal "soundoff": "A matter of record In 2000, George Bush was handed a balanced budget. In 2008, Barack Obama was handed a wrecked economy. You figure. Scandal after scandal seem to popping up concerning city departments answering to the City Manager and his ACMs. Claiming lack of knowledge not only doesn't cut it, maybe there should be an investigation of the City Manager's capability of running that office. L-E headline: "Phenix City leaders announce plans for $10 million riverfront hotel" -- Hmmm, looks like the suit that eliminated Columbus Hotels from Expedia (and other) online hotel room sites is going to backfire on Mayor Mother Teresa Obamalinson. Now when people search out rooms online, they can get nice accommodations across the river, and Columbus will collect "ZERO" in room taxes.

It's beginning to look like the only difference between the Phenix City of old and today is that you can't call in martial law to stop tyrants from stealing money from your pockets.

Liberal L-E "soundoff": "Some government services we need and therefore must pay for. L-E story: "The Muscogee County School Board voted unanimously Monday night to relocate Early College Academy to the Waverly Terrace School site on 11th Avenue. *
Early College Academy, entering its sixth year, has been located at Kendrick High School, using three interior classrooms and seven portable classrooms. * The academy allows students to get college credits while still in high school." -- I'm having a little trouble with the details here...we're bombarded with examples of students having difficulty passing/graduating, and we have 1 fully 'magnet' school, and a number of other terrific magnet programs at other high schools who's goals are better college preparation for students, so why aren't the Early College Academy students just merged into one of the magnet programs? Is the Early College Academy superior to the magnet programs or what?
---
L-E headline: "Drug-sniffing dogs to perform random searches at Columbus government facilities" -- Do they have dogs trained to sniff out inefficiency or waste; that would be an even better 'investment' for the taxpayers.
---
L-E headline/story: "Chuck Williams: What did Deputy City Manager Lisa Goodwin know? * Let’s give the city manager the benefit of the doubt. Let’s say we accept his comments at face value." -- I agree Goodwin should have been the first line of defense, but that doesn't absolve Hugley from knowing as well, and being accountable for both Goodwin and Adams. Otherwise, put it in high gear Chuck!
---
L-E headline: "Columbus' Copper Theft Task Force launches reward fund * Citizens can receive up to $1,000 for reporting thieves" -- Since we already have "Crimestoppers", why the duplicity of effort and expense? Is this just a measure to make some people 'feel good"?
---
I'm about to believe the sudden surge of lawsuits within the Sheriff's Office have been caused by settling an earlier one because it was not financially prudent to spend more money on lawyers, and now, another pack of lawyers have smelt the blood.
---
Liberal L-E "soundoff": "If raising taxes on the rich will keep them from creating jobs, why aren’t they creating jobs now? " -- Primarily because 'the rich' are struggling with current taxes and the threat of more taxes as 'the rich' work hard at not shutting down their enterprises and ending all the private sector jobs 'the rich' support. This whiner is probably one of those job holders.
---
I'm really curious why the L-E brought Bob Jeswald on board for the weather section, when the L-ER could have gotten Kurt Schmitz...
---
From the L-E's "Today in History" section: "One year ago, the Agriculture Department pressured Shirley Sherrod, an administrator in Georgia, to resign after a conservative website posted edited video it claimed showed her making racist remarks. (After reviewing the entire video, the White House ended up apologizing to Sherrod.)" -- And a hasty apology it was, and an even hastier retreat was made by 'the media'! From an online story, "RDLN Graduate and Board Vice Chair Shirley Sherrod was appointed Georgia Director for Rural Development by Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack on July 25. Only days earlier, she learned that New Communities, a group she founded with her husband and other families has won a thirteen million dollar settlement in the minority farmers law suit Pigford vs Vilsack. * New Communities is due to receive approximately $13 million ($8,247,560 for loss of land and $4,241,602 for loss of income; plus $150,000 each to Shirley and Charles (Sherrod) for pain and suffering). There may also be an unspecified amount in forgiveness of debt. This is the largest award so far in the minority farmers law suit (Pigford vs Vilsack)." -- Her resignation and false forgiveness was tainted by her desire to keep her settlement figures out of the main stream news.
---
In a letter from a former City Manager: "The bottom line: Let’s resolve this now and put it to bed." -- "put it to bed"? Hmmm, I think that is why this problem has erupted; too many people already in bed with each other.
---
I have a real question to ask concerning the recent grant to CSU to train teachers in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM): If so many students are graduating from high school with little interest or knowledge of such aspects, what's going to make them good candidates to teach such subjects to future students? The students who excelled in those subjects are going to be recruited to private sector jobs because of the demand for such skills.
---
It's 'nice' GA Legislators and two GA Teacher Associations are back efforts to retrieve bonuses paid to Atlanta teachers involved in the CRCT cheating scandal, but I want to know those teachers are going to have to forfeit any entitlement to the pension funds!
---
L-E headline: "Recruiting is key to Richt’s future as coach at Georgia " -- Has this writer graduated from any school or ever followed the SEC? "Recruiting" may be an important 'key', but the bottom line is RESULTS.
---
You know, getting the L-E's e-version has two advantages over the print version. One is that I can read what's actually readable from any computer at any time or place, but the second reason is the best...I can wear white terry cloth robes and not have t wash the newsprint out every day or so.
---
L-E headline: "TNT cancels ‘Men of a Certain Age,’ cites low ratings " -- "Low ratings"? I'd say so, too, after watching an episode or two with my wife. I determined she did not need to be thinking about the inappropriate thoughts, language, and actions these 'middle aged men' were conveying as confirmation that all middle aged men think likewise.

All of a sudden...doh...the media's 'burning question' is , Where's Casey? Just as with Waldo, or Algore, who gives a ____?
---
We do need single term limits for Congress and the President. Perhaps 4 years for the House, 8 years for the Senate, and 6 for the President is the answer. Balanced budgets and sensible spending would be easier to attain if politicians were not constantly campaigning for re-election.
---
I know overseas video/audio transmissions will improve in the future, but after watching the British Open this week in 'surround sound'. and hearing the sound of golfer striking the ball before before I actually saw the club strike it was rather distractinb.
---
It wasn't that long ago the westernmost lane of 2nd Avenue was repaved as you approach the downtown area, but that section looks and feels like it hasn't been improved in decades. Who ever did that work should be publicly embarrassed and cough up a refund to the taxpayers. I'd even forgotten the original road bed was brick, but now we can see it again.
---
L-E story: "Peachtree Mall will host Shop Til You Rock on Saturday, a music inspired mall tour that empowers teens to look and feel like rock stars. " -- On purpose? I guess it's OK for them to 'look and feel like rock stars' as long as they don't 'act' like rock stars.
---
From the 'not so fast with distortion' department - A liberal "soundoff": "Bush raised the debt limit seven times. The House-passed line budget requires raising the debt ceilings by trillions. Not one world of protest from Tea Partiers or congressional Republicans. " Aside from the normal liberal claims with figures pulled out of thin air, President Bush had to rebuild our military strength and weapon preparedness after 8 years of neglect from potus Clinton.
---
If Emperor O'Bozo wants certain people to pay more taxes, why not only raise the taxes on his friends who agree with him, plan to vote for him again? Why doesn't he just turn in their campaign donations as a gift to IRS?
---
What's this folly of the L-E wanting to bring a better weather forecast to the newspaper? It's probably just an 80% chance (or higher) that the L-E is paying the local guy less than it paid the other service.
---
Have you noticed the 'weather alerts' reminding you that if you can hear thunder, you're in range to get struck by lightning? Hmmm, well, if you're struck by lightning, you didn't hear the thunder.
---
You know, there's one Tsar I think Emperor O'Bozo should appoint... a Tsar to oversee White House expenses. It ain't gonna happen.
---
If all the people who want the debt ceiling raised would just donate money to the White House that they'd like to see being spent on whatever the Emperor O'Bozo wants, then the debt ceiling could actually be lowered. Oh, they're the ones that are expecting other people's money to be spent on them....
---
L-E's "Late laughs": "THIS WEEK was Spain’s annual running of the bulls. Or as bulls are reporting it, “This week was Spain’s annual chasing of the idiots.” — Jimmy Fallon" -- Hmm, why not get a local opinion on which aspect is the best. Let's ask John Wells; he's been there, done that, got the red bandana... ooops, I just gave away the answer.
---
Commentary from a fellow BCer: "..the President already has been given the tax increase he says is a precondition for spending cuts. These tax increases are embedded in Obamacare and will take effect next year to the tune of around 450 to 500 billion, depending on how you calculate it. The GOP needs to do a better job of making this argument--the Pres wants increased "revenue" in exchange for cuts. Now that he has what he says he wants, let's talk about specific cuts. You can make this point better than I, but you see where I am headed." -- Your point is well made; couldn't have said this better.
---
L-E story: "CUMBERLAND ISLAND — Federal officials will soon begin motorized tours of Cumberland Island, a seaside destination whose roads have been mostly off-limits to the general public because of a legal fight over how to conserve the land." -- "motorized"; as in gasoline powered? You'd think that the government would only allow it's "Chevy Volt" operate there.

From the "bet you won't find this adage hanging on the wall of any DUMB&DUMBERat's office" department - "Far and away the best prize that life has to offer is the chance to work hard at work worth doing." - Theodore Roosevelt "
---
What the DUMB&DUMBERATs as a whole and too many Republicans don't get is that until they learn to operate within the revenues the government actually receives, they have no right to ask for additional revenues from the taxpayers. How many of them, as a child, would have demanded their parents increase their allowances just because they didn't 'feel' their parents were giving them enough? What they fail to understand is that any allowance, whether from their parents or the taxes collected, is an opportunity to show responsibility for their actions..
---
From L-E article: "Frightening seniors about Medicare changes is often referred to as Me-di-Scare." -- Small potatoes compared to HELL-thScare the DUMB&DUMBERATs imposed on us in 2009.
---
From the L-E's "Roll Call Report" : "MILLIONAIRES’ TAXES: Voting 51 for and 49 against, the Senate on July 13 failed to reach 60 votes for ending GOP blockage of a bill (S 1323) stating the sense of the Senate that any agreement to raise the national debt ceiling and curb deficit spending should include “a meaningful contribution” from millionaires and billionaires. * The non-binding Democratic bill was vague on what form the contribution should take but was widely seen as a call for higher taxes on the wealthy. * Richard Durbin, D-Ill., said: “To think that (the) George Bush tax cut is worth $200,000 a yearfor a millionaire and that we would blithely hear from the we allow that to continue while asking everyone else in America to sacrifice is upside down.” -- Aside from the absurdity of Durbin's evaluation, the country gets a lot more value out of $200,000 in the hands of a private sector 'millionmaire', than the country gets from any tax dollar spent by Congressional. Name one 'investment' of Ali Obama and his 40 Tsars that has generated increased revenues, or a self-sustaining job, or is being saved for a rainy day in the future.
---
From Parade Magazine: "Q: Michelle Obama once said that if her husband was elected, Paula Deen would cook at the White House. Did this ever take place? —Lois Rankin, Greensboro, N.C. * A: Not yet," -- And if we take inventory of any of the Obaba's 'campaign promises' kept, then the more appropriate answer is "Not likely".

Online headline: "Dalai Lama White House Visit: Barack Obama Invites Spiritual Leader For Saturday Meeting" -- Not to be too nitpicky, but after the snub of Netanyahu on his visit, why does the Dalai Lama want to come? Besides, isn't inviting the Dalai Lama in spite of the estranged Tibet-China relationship about as smart as wearing a Wachovia hat into a loan meeting at CB&T?
---
Emperor O'Bozo says we don't need a Constitutional Amendment for a balanced budget. Of course, he wouldn't uphold that Amendment either.
---
Emperor O'Bozo says we can balance the budget by cutting programs 'we' don't need. Of course he thinks 'we' don't need immigration control programs, voter registration control programs, or marijuana control programs.
---
Online quote: ""The difference between the possible and the impossible lies in a person's determination." - Tommy Lasorda " -- And Emperor O'Bozo is so determined to have his way, he's impossible to deal with.
---
L-E story: "Columbus police are investigating the reported theft of a Lenovo ThinkPad laptop from Early College Academy at 2701 11th Avenue. * The item taken from the Muscogee County School District School is valued at $1,342." -- We need someone in the MCSD who has knowledge of the computer market in charge of finding better priced computers. MCSD claims is has a person in charge of "buying" but the reality is that person is actually just spending other people's money so looking for better deals isn't in the mix of priorities.
---
Online story: "MIDWAY, Ga. -- Police in Georgia have shut down a lemonade stand run by three girls trying to save up for a trip to a water park, saying they didn't have a business license or the required permits. * Midway Police Chief Kelly Morningstar says police also didn't know how the lemonade was made, who made it or what was in it." -- If this guy is up for re-election or is dependent on being Mayor/Council approved, I'll send a donation to anyone running against him or has replacing him as a plank of his/her election campaign. Neighborhood lemonade stands are about as "American" as you can get.
---
WTVM9 story: "Comedian D.L. Hughley makes a stop at Fort Benning" -- Ooops, my bad. Thought our City Manager was out job hunting.
---
L-E story: "Anthony’s legal team said Friday it received an emailed death threat with a doctored photo of the 25-year old woman with a bullet hole through her forehead. The threat was forwarded to authorities. " -- Why would anyone want to keep Casey Anthony from living out her complete life with eternal internal torture? Her having to look herself in the mirror for the rest of her life will be more painful than a bullet to her head. The jurors should be the ones watching over their shoulders.
---
From L-E story: "Since leaving Congress in January, Patrick Kennedy he has been named a visiting fellow at Brown University and has campaigned to improve brain research." -- Ooops, my bad. Thought he was trying out for a part 'searching for a brain' in a remake of the 'Wizard of Oz".
---
$10,699,804,864,612.13... know what this figure represents? This was the actual National Debt on December 31, 2008, three weeks before Emperor O'Bozo took office. It's now $4 TRILLION dollars DEEPER in less than 3 years, and he doesn't think the hole is deep enough.
---
Yeterday's L-E's "Doonesbury" contains the word 'damn'. Not 'darn', not 'dang', not "&*%$!" , but 'damn'. Just because the L-E runs "Doonesbury" on the editorial page versus the comic section, there's no justification for curse words to be allowed in a comic strip.
---
L-E headline: "Tractor-trailer crashes into 13th Street Bar-B-Que * Not the first time a truck crashed into restaurant" -- Since no one was actually injured in the accident, I can say it may be time for the restaurant to add a 'drive up' rather than a 'drive through' service.

From the 'only in California' department: "SAN DIEGO -- A woman found dead at a historic mansion was nude and hanging from a balcony with her hands tied behind her back and her feet bound, investigators said Thursday. * Investigators have not determined if (Rebecca) Nalepa was a crime victim and have not ruled out suicide" -- What you bet these "Investigators" will be on Casey Anthony's next jury panel?
---
Online headline: "Don't Ask, Don't Tell: Obama Administration Asks 9th Circuit Court Of Appeals To Reconsider Order " -- The Emperor O'Yoyo giveth, and the Emperor O'Yoyo taketh away... maybe he still thinks, er, feels, he is "The One".
---
Bought some gold jewelry the other day... clerk told me they still used the old gold rates, not the current costs... the jewelry industry just has too much mark up built in.
---
Online headline: "Mom Arrested For Yelling At TSA Over Daughter's Patdown" -- When it offers new employment opportunities, the TSA's job description must make every pervert/pedophile salivate.
---
L-E headline/story:" Columbus fire Lt. Jimmy M. Smith faces five felony drug charges * Investigators say prescription drugs found in Jimmy Smith’s backpack *
“One of the pill bottles had Jimmy Smith’s name on it,” the official said, adding Smith acknowledged the pills were in his possession but said they belonged to friends." -- Guess he needed 'a liitle help from his friends'... and has the Casey Anthony jury on retainer.
---
Online headline: "Is the AT&T and T-Mobile Merger at Risk? -- I certainly hope so! I've used T-Mobile for 14 years (started out as Power-Tel), and have avoided AT&T whenever I could, and would have to change cell phone companies if this goes through.

---
Have you noticed how Emperor O'Bozo always says he's 'going to the American people' when he doesn't get his way? Have you also noticed that he never says he's going to 'the American taxpayers' to see how they feel?
---
Online story: "Ann Coulter has found herself banned from Piers Morgan's show "for life" after canceling on the CNN host and going on Fox News instead." -- Of course, Morgan had to send a news report item to Fox News so that anybody would have a clue that he had a show at all.
---

Online headline: "Chrysler Employees Caught Drinking, Smoking During Lunch Break... Again" -- Oh! That explains that "Pew Car" smell in Chrysler cars that's totally different from other manufacturers.
---
How can the government consider taking obese children away from their parents and putting them into a government foster program! The government already feeds too many school age children their breakfast, lunch and after school meal as it is, and in some places like COLUMBUS, the schools are running breakfast and lunch programs all summer. It looks more like we need to remove government from the nannyism business, not give it more involvement.
---
Online headline: "Actor Quits Gig at White House" -- Ooops, my bad (bet you saw this coming and read my thoughts accordingly).
---
Just a thought - Why is that multiple competing trash/garbage services can operate profitably in Columbus, and keep up maintenance on their equipment without the benefit of prison labor or monthly surcharges to their competitive business contracts? Maybe the City should consider outsourcing garbage pick up or at least hire a new department head from one of the private services.
---
Thinking about it, seems like Mayor Mother Teresa Obamalinson has dropped her attempt to stop twice a week garbage pick ups once it was out that only adding $6.00 a year to the existing garbage fee (that was added to ensure second day pick ups) would cover her $330,000.00 saving she claimed would be realized by ending the second pick up.
---
BTW, still haven't heard back from Council whether picking up recyclables only once or twice a month would give them savings in the overall garbage pick up costs.
---
A comment on the L-E Online board states something of interest that should be explored...It wasn't until General Cavezza left and unwIsaiah Hugley was appointed that the Parks &Rec bank account scandal got cranked up.
---
A liberal "soundoff" worth parsing: "As a teacher I am offended by “Can’t read, can’t teach.” Parents of low socioeconomic children are to blame. Most birth children and then do not interact with them or take part in their education. " -- Well, where are the teachers asking the MCSD to stop being such 'nannies'? When you take children out of their parents' kitchens for every meal, the MCSD is assuming the role of parenting to the children, then the teachers become 'day care attendants'.
---
From the 'suspicions confirmed ' department - From a letter to the editor: "I retired from teaching after 30 years, during which time I chose to work with students in culturally deprived areas. * their parents never spent time with them discussing topics that could broaden their children’s background. * Judy F. Brouillette" -- The good news is that she has retired; of course it'll take generations to undo the harm.

Online headline/story: "Obama Warns Cantor 'Don't Call My Bluff' As Debt Talks Stall * Cantor, speaking to reporters after the meeting, said that the president "abruptly" walked off after offering his scolding. * "I know why he lost his temper. He's frustrated. We're all frustrated," the Virginia Republican said." -- When he is a child, Emperor O'Bozo acts and talks like child. He needs to put away his childish ways and man-up. (Street version of I Corinthians 13:11.
---
Online headline: "Marion Christopher Barry Arrested On Drug Charges " -- No, it's not an 1980s headline; the fruit didn't fall far from the tree.
---
From a L-E story on the 14th St. Bridge: "Work on the bridge is just the beginning of a project costing more than $10 million. * When all of the work is completed, likely in 2013 said Jones, there will be a plaza on the Columbus side of the bridge. The cost of the bridge renovation is $5.2 million with the plaza costing another $4.3 million. * Most of the funding is federal money with $3.3 million for the bridge work coming from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. " -- Is it the "new math" thingy again? $5.2 Million and $4.3 million do not add up to "more than $10 million'. Of course, it could just be an acknowledgement that it's a government project, and government cannot finish a project within its budget.
---
L-E "soundoff" of distinction: "Justice is supposed to be blind, but in Florida it is also deaf and dumb. "
---
Another "soundoff" of merit: "Union pensions all across the country would not be going broke if the unions actually contributed to them and didn’t send all their money to reelect Democrats. "
---
Now to balance with 'liberal's 'soundoff': "The Republicans know if they raise the debt ceiling the economy will take off, and that’s the last thing they want." -- Musta been inserted by the L-E writer who figured the math portion in the L-E 'bridge' story.
---
Thanks to a fellow BCer, 'we' have a new and well earned monicker for our City Manager.. "unwIsaiah" Hugley.
---
The Emperor's spokesminions are out in force saying after we pay Social Security, debt interests, and basic government needs, other services would not be able to be met if the 'debt ceiling' isn't lifted. Hmmm, wouldn't this be a spending cut which this economy actually needs? Now that the DUMB&DUMBERats have identified these superfluous expense centers and have the priorities in line, making permanent spending cuts should be a snap.
---
Almost killed another bicyclist yesterday. A woman, iPod in her ears, tore through the Broadway median sidewalk as though she owned the sidwalk, and if I were not alert to such things, she'd have been run over as I made a legal right turn on red. Never has it been so necessary as now to have over 12 year old bicyclists register/license their vehicles, and take a proper safety/defense driving course.
---
While (especially under the cloud of Casey Anthony's acquittal) I think it's asinine to pursue the case of Roger Clemens charges of lying to Congress, but if it continues, I hope Clemens is convicted and nailed to the wall. Then, the precedence of lying to Congress should become the new standard for ethical charges against Congresspersons, Presidents et al lying in Congress or to the American people. Conviction would mean expulsion and a similar jail sentence to what ever Clemens gets. I can live with this.
---
What good will it do for Casey Anthony to change her name, appearance, and location? It would be 6 months before she'd be out celebrating and looking for the paparazzi to pose for.
---
Also, why would Anthony's attorneys think she will be in danger oncd she's released? Her biggest 'danger' will be looking at the woman in the mirror for the rest of her life.
---
Wonder what the liberal media reaction, especially Geraldo Rivera's, would have been if the Casey Anthony jury had sat in on the Bernie Madoff trial..
---
L-E story: "Associated Press WASHINGTON — Failure to raise the U.S. debt limit would probably ensure President Barack Obama’s re-election in 2012, Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell warned fellow conservatives Wednesday" -- "Senate Republican leader"? Sounds more like McConnell will be the DUMB&DUMBERats next "McCain" poster child for what bipartisanship looks like. Senator McConnell, "heel" thyself!
---
From the 'suspicions confirmed' department - L-E's "Late laughs": " SCHOOLS IN Illinois are dropping writing portions from standardized tests. When asked why, a spokesman said, “We simple does not needs them.” — Jimmy Fallon" -- Wasn't it yesterday I said that Chicago is the center of liberal ideas of Class destruction?
---
When you think about it, Emperor O'Bozo's plan may actually be to get the US credit rating lowered to the European level he so idolizes.
---
Ah! Just heard a mockingbird chirp outside my office window. My cat jumped and ran to the door...he heard "Breakfast!"
---
L-E headline: "PREPARED TO INTERVENE * Bernanke: Fed would supply more stimulus for U.S. economy if needed " -- Is there no dignity, no honor, among the den of politicos catering to Emperor O'Bozo? What Bernanke is saying is that if Congress won't raise the debt ceiling for more spending, he will give Emperor O'Boze more unbacked, hyper-inflated printed money he can distribute out the back door.
---
The Springer has a children's play titled "Go, Dogs, Go" on its agenda. It features gangs of Yellow Dogs and Blue Dogs. If I didn't know better, I'd have thought this was a DUMB&DUMBERat Convention.

Wednesday, July 13, 2011

Online headline: "Nearly 80 percent of small business owners just want Washington to "get out of the way," according to a new survey." You can bet the Emperor O'Bozo didn't order, authorize, nor submit this poll to the media! He probably will release one today showing that 100% of illegal aliens want Washington to pay for everything.
---
L-E headline: 'City manager Isaiah Hugley says he knew nothing of Parks and Rec crimes before police probe" -- Just his admission to this, if anyway possibly true, should be his catalyst to resign. The City Manager not having a clue to what went on is ridiculous, but if true, it's a sure sign he has no clue to anything going on. Just the "internal grapevine" is certain to have had such info (or at least grumblings of problems) get back to him.
---
From L-E editorial: “I accept full responsibility for management oversight,” Hugley said in his 15-minute statement. But he added later, “Management oversight does not extend to criminal behavior.” -- In our Japanese sister-city, the corresponding city manager probably has hari kari equipment on a shelf behind his desk, but then 'honor' is important to the Japanese.

---

How can the City Manager pull a "Sgt Schultz, "I know Nuthing" defense when the auditor had no problem uncovering signs or fraud and scandal?
---

Though it's taken him a career to do so, Richard Hyatt has finally grown 'a set'. Let's pray they grow bigger.

---
An Emperor O'Bozo spokesperson defends the HELL-thScare 'death panel' because it would only come into effect if Congress cannot hold health care costs down.... Are these guys serious? If it's dependent on Congress being efficient, the 'death panel' is guaranteed!
---
Jay Carney, replacement voice for Emperor O'Bozo, said "If we default, Americans will suffer". -- Guess he means illegal SOUTH American aliens. I can live with it.
---
Emperor O'Bozo has implied (can you say, "Scare tactic", boys and girls) to our seniors that social security checks might not get sent out. You can bet he wasn't talking about the checks to support illegal aliens, or for his massive entourage staffed vacations and White House parties!
---
L-E headline: "Fort Benning aims to reduce noise in training region" -- Ooops, my bad. Thought they were going to use complaining citizens as target practice.
---
L-E story: "HOUSTON, Texas — Twin (48 year old) brothers who for three months lived with their elderly mother’s bug-infested corpse in their Houston home won’t be indicted.
-- Hmmm, the Houston DA must have learned the Casey Anthony defense was making reservations for themselves and their jury.
---
L-E headline: "Census: Share of children in U.S. hits record low " -- Hmm, bet this data doesn't correspond with IRS's figures about how many children are claimed for child care credit or tax deductions.
---
How can the City Manager pull a "Sgt Schultz, "I know Nuthing" defense when the auditor had no problem uncovering signs or fraud and scandal?
---
L-E story: "CHICAGO — Should parents of extremely obese children lose custody for not controlling their kids’ weight? " -- Here it is again... Chicago, scandal capital of the US, nurturing spot of the Daileys, Rahm Emanuel, Emperor O'Bozo, both Jesse Jacksons, and Arne Duncan to name a few, never gives 'it' a rest. No wonder the dead have to vote,
whether they want to or not, to keep these people in elected positions.
---
L-E headline/story: "Woman who stole dead sister’s identity sentenced * Prosecutors said Johnson defrauded the Gulf Coast Claims Facility by submitting a claim for $15,500 in lost wages using Sabrina Ann Conner’s identity. * Charlette D. Johnson of Fayetteville, N.C., was ordered to serve 10 years and one month behind bars and pay more than $100,000 in restitution, according to court documents." -- Huh? If she falsely filed a claim for $15,500.00, why is she having to pay back ''more than $100,000 in restitutiion? No, don't tell me FEMA kept paying her over and over before FEMA found out it was a scam! What are the sentences for the FEMA agents who didn't know what was going on? Have they been fired? Are they now working in the City Manager's office?
---
L-E headline:"Death row inmate dies of apparent suicide" -- Don't you know his lawyers are crying that their meal ticket just got canceled. Guess all they can do is sue for 'wrongful death' since they won't be able to sue for 'pain and suffering' if the state used some drug not on the approved list.
---
L-E story: "MOBILE — A lawyer for a University of South Alabama freshman charged with murder in a fatal stabbing said during a bond hearing his client was trying to protect himself from a sexual attack. * Mobile County District Attorney Ashley Rich said at the hearing that Dean was stabbed 25 times." -- Hmmm, I'm more surprised the lawyer's defense is based on the victim committing suicide.
---
With all the interests in the Atlanta CRCT cheating scandal (even one superintendent recently hired in Texas has been suspended pending the ivestigation), I'm rather puzzled that the L-E has not revisited the scandal at Rigdon Road school a few years back.
---
RE: The MLB All-Star game last night -- Well, at least Prince Fielder did not wear a Milwaukee CERVECEROS jersey while in Arizona!
---
L-E headline: "CLEMENS TRIAL Jury mostly female, not fans of baseball" -- If a 'mostly female' jury could acquit Casey Anthony, what chance does Roger Clemens have!
---
L-E headline: "Fed divided over more stimulus" -- Well, at least some of the Feds are listening to main street instead of Emperor O'Bozo.
---
