Online headline/story: "Woman's Dead Body Found In Massachusetts Public Pool After 2 Days * The facts appear to indicate that a woman was in the water for a number of days and not noticed by staff, patrons or other inspections that may have taken place," said State Energy and Environmental Affairs Secretary Richard Sullivan, whose department oversees state-run pools. * He said he found the possibility disturbing and "a breakdown systematically somewhere." -- Another shining example of government efficiency.. NOT! This coming from the only state with a version of HELL-thScare already in place should be the wake up call even DUMB&DUMBERats should recognize.

Online headline: "Pakistan College Holds Contest To Praise Bin Laden " -- Ooops, my bad. Thought this was one of the colleges in California.
---
From the "another one bites the dust" promise department - Online headline/story: "Medical Marijuana Memo: DOJ Cracks Down On Pot Shops * WASHINGTON -- Medical marijuana advocates are pushing back against a new Justice Department threat to raid and prosecute medical pot shops even in states where the drug is legal. * So using the product within state laws is okay. Growing it or selling it within state laws is not." -- Ah! The "chicken or the egg" poser of the 21st Century.

Online headline/story: "Pat Quinn Signs Illinois Death Penalty Ban * Quinn's signature makes Illinois the 16th state to ban capital punishment. * The other states where the death penalty is outlawed are Alaska, Hawaii, Iowa, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North Dakota, Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia and Wisconsin. The District of Columbia banned capital punishment in 1981. " -- Hmm, maybe we should get a campaign started that lets eliminate prison sentences here in GA, and make the judges sentence felonious criminals to exile in the states that have banned the death sentence.

L-E headline/story: "Police: Columbus Parks & Rec employee sold drugs outside Frank Chester Recreation Center * New Parks and Recreation Director James Worsley, who has been on the job less than two weeks, said it was his understanding that three police officers were involved in the arrest, and that the children at the center were moved into the gymnasium beforehand so they did not witness the arrest. * Hugley also said he hopes other city employees take note of what happened. * “We want this to be a message to any other city employee, that if you violate our drug-free work force rule, we will take very swift action to remove you from the government and make sure you are charged and appropriate legal action taken. We’re just not going to tolerate it,” the city manager said. * Mayor Teresa Tomlinson reiterated what Hugley said about the city’s zero tolerance policy." -- Speaking of intolerance, maybe it's time that Council lets the City Manager know that Council will no longer tolerate the City Manager not knowing what's going on in other City departments.
---
L-E story: "Superior Court Judge Doug Pullen on Friday denied dueling summary judgment motions in the lawsuit between Columbus and Expedia, reversing a January decision in which he orally granted attorney’s fees to Columbus in a case that has dragged on more than five years. * Pullen said he had a change of heart about the attorney’s fees -- a significant amount of money that could dwarf the lodging taxes at issue in the case -- after considering a recent Georgia Supreme Court ruling that cities have no remedy for back taxes against online travel companies because they are not innkeepers or operators." -- Does this mean what I think it means...that the City was not a valid plaintiff, and the local law firm may not have had a leg to stand on?
---
L-E headline/story: "GEORGIA IMMIGRATION LAW * People urged not to shop, work to protest state law * The Georgia Latino Alliance for Human Rights called for a day of non-compliance, asking businesses to close and community members to stay home and not work or shop. It was hard to say how many skipped work, but organizers said at least 125 Atlanta-area businesses closed to show their support Friday." -- Can anyone suplly me with a list of the businesses that closed in Atlanta on Friday? I'd like to know so that when I'm in Atlanta, and those stores are open; so I can boycott shopping at any of them.
---
L-E story: "SAN MATEO, Calif. — A San Mateo County woman filed a discrimination lawsuit last week against Abercrombie & Fitch, claiming the clothing retailer fired her from its Hollister Co. store at Hills-dale Shopping Center in San Mateo because her Muslim headscarf clashed with the company’s image. * “When I was asked to remove my scarf after being hired with it on, I was demoralized and felt unwanted,” Khan, 20, said in a statement. “Growing up in this country where the Bill of Rights guarantees freedom of religion, I have felt let down.” -- Two points here: 1 - Does Ms Khan support America full time as fervently as she has wrapped herself in our Bill of Rights, and 2 - Doesn't Abercrombie & Fitch have the same protection of its right to practice its own religion.. the religion of profitability?

From the "suspicions confirmed" department- A TV news item reveals a Harvard study that concluded on Republicans enjoy 4th of July Parades and activities. Hmmm, for once, I can believe something from Harvard.
---
Let's face it..the next department audit in Columbus' government needs to be the City Manager's office. He doesn't know anything about the Parks&Rec or Civic Center crimes, so we need to know whether or not he knows anything about the CVity Manager's duties.

I really do like Newt Gingrich's 'vision for America', BUT I do not like the fact he quit under fire when he did not stay in Congress when he could have been so helpful to President Bush when Bush was so occupied with foreign events. I passionately blame Newt for not being 'there' in Washington to ride herd on the Republican Congresspersons, and keep them from spending/acting like DUMB&DUMBERats. Because he wasn't there, we ended up with Pelosi and the Emperor O'Bozo. Newt, "they' are your fault!
