This has been around a while, but a fellow BCer just sent this to me again:

Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it.
---
From the "it's not one world" department - Online story: "KABUL, Afghanistan -- Insurgents in southern Afghanistan hanged an 8-year-old boy six days after they abducted him, the Afghan government said Sunday. * The boy's captors had demanded that his father, a police officer, supply them with a police vehicle and he refused, said a statement from President Hamid Karzai's office. The militants hanged the boy Friday in Helmand province's Gereshk district." -- And we wonder what would go through the mind of terrorist suicide bombers.
---
Another from the "it's not one world" department - Online story: "A 15-year-old boy has died and eight people wounded in a shooting at a backyard birthday party. * Stockton, CA police say at least one person in an adjoining backyard opened fire on a group of people attending the party around 11 p.m. Saturday." -- Did I just note this was in California? We have got to take back our country.
---
Online story: "PORTLAND, Ore. — House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi Sunday called for an ethics panel investigation of Rep. David Wu following a published allegation that a young woman reported he'd engaged in "aggressive and unwanted sexual behavior." -- Rumor has it a support group has been founded, "We Wuv Woo, Wu".
---
L-E headline: "Columbus files new lawsuit against Expedia" -- Hmmm, it's 6:00 AM....does Mayor Mother Teresa Obamalinson know where her husband is?
---
From above story: "Wally Walker, an attorney for the city (actually, Pope, McGlamry, Kilpatrick, Morrison & Norwood who represents the city), pointed the finger at Expedia in recent court filings. “These hourly fee lawyers are monetarily incentivized to continue this assault on the judicial system,” he said of Expedia’s request that Boswell intervene, “and they have a client willing to pay them to do so.” -- Oh.. those wascally wabbits! This sounds a little like a bit of profession jealousy... who'd stoop to actually paying its lawyers by the hour instead of a contingency fee?!
---
L-E story: "(Roy) Martin, a bicyclist who enjoys riding on the Riverwalk, called (the Ledger Inquirer) to report problems at two of its restroom facilities. He said the urinals in the men’s rooms at Rotary Park and at Oxbow Meadows won’t flush completely. * “On really hot days, it gets very odorous,” he said." -- Sounds like a case of 'Mayor Mother Teresa Obamalinson's Revenge'... she couldn't save money by going to once a week garbage pickups, so she's decided to see if she can save money bu going to 'once a week flushings' at public facilities.
---
Though not an 'ear witness', I was told by a 'reliable source' who was at attendance at the Denim & Diamonds concert Saturday night, that Jamey Johnson dropped the "F-bomb", loud and clear, as he was leaving the stage. Lotta class...NOT; especially at a family oriented fund raiser for Hospice.
---

Judy F. Brouillette...what can we say... She'd be the perfect poster child at a Ripley's "Believe it or not" symposium on undefinable logic. Even Maxwell Smart couldn't get a chuckle if he said... Would you believe she's an officer of the local Democrat Party...it would make to much sense.
---
L-E headline: "ATLANTA SCHOOLS CHEATING SCANDAL *Hearing focuses on ouster of school board members " -- Is a cheating scandal really any worse than the scandal of the poor results in our own schools?

---
L-E headline: "Colleges on spending spree despite economy * Gone from $5.4 billion in 2007 to projected $7 billion this year; spending includes buildings, technology, football" -- This will be another scandal! With the changes in the HOPE Scholarship requirements, the number of students who can qualify for the full HOPE payout will drop fast, and many students' parents will not be able (or even desirous) of paying the steep fees for the tuition, much less the inflated 'fees' being charged per quarter/semester for campuses to build 'fluff' facilities like the 'student activities building' recently opened at CSU et al. There's also the likelihood, actually probability, that actual student population will decrease while the campuses are counting on a continued growth to keep more 'fee money' coming in.
