Online headline: "CNN Cancels Debate After Mitt Romney And Ron Paul Pull Out " -- Oh, like anyone would be watching CNN anyway.
---
L-E story: "In spite of the progress made in American race relations, particularly in the South, there is still considerable racial bias in this society, much of it entrenched in institutions and evident in public policy. * That’s the opinion of Chester Hartman, director of research for the Poverty & Race Research Action Council in Washington, who spoke Thursday night at the North Columbus Library. * About 30 people attended the first of a yearlong series of gatherings called “Conversation on Race,” co-sponsored by the Southern Anti-Racism Network and One Columbus. * “It’s obviously foolish to deny that there’s been a lack of progress, especially in the South,” Hartman, an author and urban planner, told the crowd at the North Columbus Library branch. “But there’s still an enormous amount of racism around.” -- "30 people attended"? By the time you discount media, politicians, and those still seeking ways to profit from being a 'victim', there were probably 'zero' concerned citizens there. Yes, there are still bigots here and everywhere else in the country/world, but these bigots are not limited to white skin.

WRBL3 headline: "Auburn University ag dean arrested for drunk driving" -- Give him a break, he was just doing research on developing future applications of corn.
---
Online story: "
NEW YORK, Feb. 16 (UPI) -- Officials say a Queens, N.Y., elementary school teacher may lose her job for allegedly having her students write holiday cards to her boyfriend in jail. * Melissa Dean allegedly told her students at P.S. 143 they were going to make cards for someone who was lonely over the holidays. That someone was John Coccarelli, 33, who is serving prison time on charges of violating a restraining order filed against him by his ex-wife, the New York Post reported. * Coccarelli's criminal record raises particular alarms for parents, as he was arrested and charged in the past for possession of child pornography," -- "may lose her job"? In New York, that means she will be pulled out of the classroom, and she go to a dayroom with other fired teachers while being paid (including annual raises) until she's reached retirement age.

A more than worthy L-E "soundoff": "At your expense * Democrats want everyone to stay out of their bedrooms and mind their own business when it comes to paying for their birth control. What a bunch of hypocrites." -- Well said.

---

L-E headline: "Nigerian underwear bomber gets life" -- Well, justice would be somewhat carried out if he's permanently assigned to the laundry area washing all the inmate's underwear.

---

L-E story: "WASHINGTON — Kids have easy and inexpensive access to hundreds of smartphone applications, but parents are in the dark about what personal information is being collected from their children and how companies are using the data, government regulators said Thursday. " -- What kids really need are 'smart parents' instead of 'smart phones'.

Looking at pictures of at the scene where Leo Scott killed himself, why were so many law enforcement personnel needed there? The rest of the City must have been pretty much void of police presence.
---
L-E headline: "Curb the auto dashboard technology, government asks " -- Is this the same government that owns such a stake in Government Motors? For the past 4 years, I've been looking for a full sized sedan that will fit me and 3 or 4 friends of like size. All I want in it are power steering/brakes/locks/windows and a good AM/FM radio (maybe a single CD player). I have a cell phone with GPS/Navigation, and do not want a car that talks to/at me, heats my rear end, or parks for me. I may have to buy a 1960s 'parade float' to get this.

I'm waiting for a New York Post response to Maxine Waters' claim that there are demons out there. I can see the opening response, "Yes, Maxine, there are demons out there, and most are the ones that have escaped from within your head."
---
The latest from barackobama.com: "This election is heating up fast—so we're giving out free Obama-Biden bumper stickers. * Tell us where to send it, and we'll put it in the mail." -- This is almost too easy... but will let civility rule, and let all of you make up your own response about telling them where they can put it!
---
Seen on TV news: A Michigan principals' group representative told an investigative committee that teachers know more than parents about what's good for their children. Well, according to the way our local school district wants year round schools, to feed them year round, and to be responsible for taking them to and from school, I'd say the MCSD agrees with the Michigan group.

Why is it when unions go on strike, it's about corporate greed; but in reality, it's really about union greed with little or no concern about the cost consumers will pay,
---

I am a firm believer that the only reason that Tim Geithner is still the Secretary of Treasury is because potUS O'Blather simply cannot find another person of credibility who will take the job and be the puppet for saying what potUS O'Blather wants the Secretary to say concerning the financial woes his administration has created.

Can you believe that the EPA has commissioned (and paid for) interviews with 5,000 people concerning playing in the sand at the beaches, and the results published are, "You should wash your hands whenever you have played in the sand." Who doesn't already wash the sand off their hands, feet, and body without being told to do so?

From the "of yeah, take that department'! - From a fellow BCer:
'OCCUPY GOLF 99% MOVEMENT'

...WE GOLFERS NEED TO BE HEARD!

I am a member of golf's 99%. I play golf when I feel like it, but have not yet made it to the professional level. I have played the game for over 20 years, but have not really put in the practice time and study to be the best. I also probably do not have the skills to really get there either, and let's face it, I'm kind of lazy.

However, in light of political correctness and the new liberal morality espoused by the Federal Government, I now feel I should be paid by the successful dedicated Golf Professionals for my effort. It isn't fair those players who have worked harder, have studied the game, have better equipment and are stronger and more skilled should make all that BIG money. Where's my share? Oh sure, they have their charities they give millions of dollars to, but I am sure they write all that off on their tax returns to reduce paying their fair share. Is that fair?

They should pay for my golf, buy me new equipment and pay me some of their winnings. The whole system should be changed to accommodate people like me who have not been as lucky as those millionaire golfers! Let's occupy a golf course and demand those who are better at what they do pay for us who aren't as good.

This should get us something, like media attention and sympathy!
