A fellow BCer forwarded me a most disturbing video of Syrian rebel Muslims hog tying a police officer, beheading him, and 'spiking' his head into the pavement. If that wasn't bad, no, horrible enough, a second video showed a teen, possibly a pre-teen boy give a machete-type weapon, and adults urging him on to behead another man. If that's not sick enough for you, then the fact that Judas 00-bama is sending them weapons and money in support should seal the deal. Will forward the videos on request.

Hmmm, it's that time of year when Little Leaguers dreams come to fruition... it's Little League World Series time. One of the announcers said one of the players favorite 'perks' of the event was "missing as many days of school as possible". You know, the Little League schedule was set to end in August, before the Labor Day weekend, and timed so when school started on the Tuesday AFTER Labor Day Monday, no one would miss a day of school. Schools have taken away the summer for our families.

Waiting times have been up to several hours this summer, he added. * “There are still a number of parents and students reporting to register,” Lewis said. “Attendance is extremely important for our students and the teaching and learning process. We need all of our children in school the first day and every day.” *  Enrollment as of 2 p.m. was 31,492 students, which is about 200 students fewer than the 31,707 figure in the district’s 2012 annual report. * Lewis intends for a task force to examine the registration process and make recommendations. He would like to see better use of technology, perhaps enabling parents to register their children via computer from home. " -- Hmmm, there's a lot going on here, including the constant flow of children to other sources of education (private schools/home school). In 1990, there were 32,000 students in the MCSD and 5,000 employees. Now we have less than 32,000 students and over 6,000 employees. Those are just plain facts, but the disturbing aspect of Lewis's statements is his desire to enable parents to register by computer. It's not the registering that bothers me so much as the MCSD deciding if it starts this, we taxpayers are going to have to provide computers and online services to all children's homes because it wouldn't be fair to put such responsibility on their parents.
