Online story: "Schools in 45 states who have recently adopted the Common Core education standards are dropping cursive from the curriculum in favor of typing, a move that has teachers and legislators in seven of those states up in arms." -- I haven't run this by our MCSD board.... yet, but Common Core is the curriculum used here. Question: When students take a test... do they pull out a typewriter and type their names at the top of their paper? When students sign an honesty pledge or a student loan, do they print their names on the bottom line or just make their "X"?

---
Hmmm, Judas 00-bama pushing "Common Core" makes sense when you think about the direction he wants to take this country... It makes it a lot easier to sign up voters if they don't know how to read or write.

---
L-E story: "WASHINGTON — Education Secretary Arne Duncan on Monday said he regretted his “clumsy phrasing” in singling out white suburban moms for opposing new higher academic standards. * Duncan has consistently shown little patience for critics of the Common Core State Standards, being implemented in 45 states and the District of Columbia. But his remarks, as reported by Politico, went a step further and add elements of race and class." -- "clumsy phrasing"? How about out-and-out racial and gender PROFILING! Now getting mainstream media to question his qualification to continue as the Secretary of Education will be about as effective as getting "the reverend" Jesse Jackson to be held accountable for referring to New York City as Hymie-ville..
---
Online story: "According to Northwest Prep Report, Tony Picard is a running back and nose guard for White Swan High School in Washington who stands 6' 4" and weights 400 pounds." -- Woody Hayes is probably rolling in his grave to sign this guy. It would revitalize Ohio State football. He could call his offense "three yards and a CROWD of dust".
---
What would you call a 400 pound running back....he's not exactly a Fullback or a Tailback.. how about a FullTail?
---
Heard there may be a name change for college football's highest annual award. To update the trophy to be politically correct and eliminate future scandals involving awardees, the trophy will be designated "The Heistman Award"

Online story: "NEW YORK (AP) — The number of street stops under the police department's heavily criticized stop-and-frisk tactic has plummeted 80 percent in recent months compared with the same time last year, and officers are recovering fewer weapons, according to police department data obtained Monday * Officers recovered 99 firearms, down from 198 last year, and 463 knives, down from 1,016, according to the quarterly data provided to the City Council. * The decline comes around a federal judge's August ruling that the police department's policy of stopping and questioning people based on reasonable suspicions a crime is about to occur or has occurred unfairly targeted minorities * The head of the New York Civil Liberties Union, Donna Lieberman, said the precipitous drop in stops is good news and proves the city, which is on track to have a record low number of murders this year, can stay safe without excessively stopping and frisking people." -- "on track for a record low number of murders"? And a judge orders the program "stopped"? Well, with half the number of guns and less than half the number of knives taken off the street, the violent crime/murder figures for the second half of the year will probably be quite revealing.
---
Online story: "The lack of reliable data on the $1.2 trillion student debt market may be hampering federal officials’ understanding of how student debt threatens economic growth, a top regulator said Monday. * Financial regulators, who advise the Fed have been warning for several months that large unpaid student loan balances may jeopardize the economy in the coming years as bigger chunks of household paychecks go towards repaying college debt instead of buying new goods and services, investing in small businesses or saving for retirement." -- "lack of reliable data"? Students saddled with debt starting new careers if they can find a job at all sounds like "reliable data" to me...When you think about it, what good has the student loan programs actually done for students? Easy access to student loans has basically driven the cost of education to ridiculous heights and the retention of too many professors involved in remedial courses because high schools have not prepared the students for either higher education or life.

Online story: "SPRING CITY, Pa. (AP) — A United Methodist minister was convicted Monday in a Pennsylvania church trial of breaking church law by officiating at his son's same-sex marriage, * The Rev. Frank Schaefer testified that he tried to follow God's command to minister to all, even if he disobeyed the Methodist Book of Discipline. * Schaefer chose to hide the marriage from the congregation * "I did not want to make this a protest about the doctrine of the church. I wasn't trying to be an advocate," Schaefer said." -- You know, all of us sin.. but when we sin intentionally and without remorse, it is different. Schaefer could have supported his son by attending the wedding as a father, but let some other authorized person to perform the ceremony. Most would understand that, but he chose to do this in the shadows....

Online headline: "Obama 'Deeply Disappointed' In Senate Republicans For Blocking Judicial Nominees" -- Why now? Why is even the mainstream media reporting this? Judas 00-bama couldn't get most of his appointees confirmed when he had a 60 vote majority for himself in the first two years of his election.
---
Online headline: "'It's a Wonderful Life' sequel in the works" -- You know, Hollywood just doesn't "get it". I understand it when "remakes" are made in an effort to bring modern technology into past efforts, but sequels to classics just don't. never will, be worth the effort. There are no Jimmy Stewarts in today's Hollywood.
---
From the "haven't you dreamed of seeing" department - Online story: "While pulling another man's hair isn't the most masculine way to make a tackle, it is legal and rather effective. Cue Jacksonville's Jason Babin, who brought down Arizona running back Andre Ellington by his dreadlocks, and went home with a souvenir." -- In actuality, Babin added insult to injury by throwing Ellington's dreadlocks on the field. With all the wussifying new rules, I'm surpised a flag wasn't thrown for "unsportsmanlike littering". But who could blame him, obviously "Locks of Love" wasn't going to be interested.
---
From the "shoulda known" department: Yesterday I was invited to call into a conference call meeting with Judas 00-bama. They asked for pre-event questions, so I sent some in:
1- How come you've re-hired political campaign coordinator Axelrod for yourself?

2 - How come you renamed your campaign website "Organizing For Action" rather than "Organizing For America/Americans"?

3 - How come you still keep your high school, college and overseas travel documents sealed?
Later I got thanked for my participation, but they didn't send the phone number for me to call in at the appointed time.. That's so Judas 00-bama.
---
I don't know why we are flabbergasted that Obamarat Congress members would vote on a bill they didn't read because I don't think any of them has ever bothered to read our Constitution.
---
Good grief! Judas 00-bama's spinmeisters are out promoting that they think 80% of OObamaCRAP online sign ups will be successful. That's outrageous, but is does parallel the incompetency this administration considers acceptable . An 80% record in high school probably won't get you into the college of your choice. That, my friends, is pathetic
---
Judas 00-bama's "solution" to the OObamaCRAP fiasco is akin to trying to stuff toothpaste back in the tube.
---
Oprah is dead wrong. The nation does not disrespect the office of the president. The nation disrespects how Judas 00-bama executes his duties to the people of this nation.
---
L-E story: "The U.S. Defense Department's budget ($565.8 billion for fiscal year 2012) is larger than the next 10 military spenders (including countries like Russia and China) — combined." -- Well, when Democratic Party Presidents ship all the technology specs the taxpayers have financed to make better more effective defense weapons to our enemies in exchange for campaign contributions. it does cut down the expense of them having to develop their own.
---
You know, Judas 00-bama's claim to have no clue to the 00bamaCRAP rollout has to make you wonder as to just how out of touch he is on other issues of National Security. How can he claim to be our Commander-in-Chief when he doesn't learn about things until the mainstream media reports it in the newspapers?

Liz Cheney's attack on her sister, Mary, is definitive of the intolerances of liberals. Just because a person tolerates the actions of someone he/she loves does not mean that person accepts it 100%. Conversely, just because friends and family do accept your/our shortcomings specifically does not mean they should be expected/pushed to be 100% in support for every aspect of their tolerances. Love and respect are what they are.

From the "you gotta be kidding me" department - Went to Sam's yesterday to renew a subscription. While standing in line at the pharmacy register to pick it up and pay for it, the lady in front of me picking up her subscription also had a few other items for the pharmacist to ring up. One item was a bottle of wine. The pharmacist told her he could not ring up wine on his register. I laughed and said, Wow, you can sell drugs that can put you in a stupor, but you can't sell wine? The pharmacist and the lady cracked up as well. Wonder what FDA brain wrote that rule?
---
A fellow BCer pointed out that the reason Judas 00-bama still hasn't released his school and youthful travel documents is that he still has a library to fund and build when he leaves office. Of course, she added, that the room devoted to his early life and school stuff will just be empty.
---
There's a meningitis outbreak in Princeton, NJ. I could make a couple of 'Ivy League/liberal' jokes, but the FDA set up an even better one... The FDA said that school children should wash their hands, and not drink or smoke after others. What is the FDA smoking that it warns school children about doing the same?

Well, another Circle K gas/convenience/lottery store was robbed by armed blacks. That's a handful this weekend in Columbus alone since the story came out about a Circle K employee getting fired for using his personal gun to save his life, and every street thug in GA learned they could expect no resistance in robbing a Circle K store. For me, I now avoid Circle K at all times.
---
Now we have a Rutger's football player claiming a coach bullied him. Good grief! The first times I met my all time favorite coaches (1 in Little League, 1 in high school), 1 hit me with a pitch, and said since I could handle that, I had no reason to be scared of any LL aged pitchers, and the other kicked me in the rear as I turned and walked away. When I looked back at him, he didn't even look up from his clipboard, but simply said, "Don't walk when you can run." It was a great lesson for me. I never walked on or off a basketball court again. What's the Rutger's wimp's problem? Any way, that's one more for the new "All-Madden" team.
---
Toronto mayor Rob Ford is definitely a liberal, and possibly a shoo-in for the next mayor in a major American city. He's a druggie, a sot, and a liar, and by apologizing for getting caught, he's basically addressed all the aspects to demonstrate he's a victim of Republican regulations that he can campaign on getting changed.
---
I'm sure y'all have seen that video of the New Mexico police stopping that van driven by a mom with 6 or so kids. What were the police officers thinking? I have utmost concern about the safety aspects our officers face anytime they make a stop, but first appearances in this situation look like the officers were way out if line.

Local Federal court discussions about whether the Sheriff discriminated against two women just had unintended consequences for the women. The Sheriff identified one as being second on the list he made before promoting a male to the Captain's rank. Now, then other woman will an opportunity to sue the Sheriff for thinking the other one was more qualified. Ain't real life grand?
---
In the above case... the lawyers representing the two women want $270+K for their work.. They will have their work cut out for them to show that they should be considered for any of it. That's an awful lot of hours charged for not being able to convince a jury to award their clients damages in the original trial.
---
L-E headline: "COLUMBUS COURTS * Child molester gets sentenced to life in prison * Scott, 32, got 13-year-old girl pregnant, gave 11-year-old STD" -- Once again... this is not about racism... it's about the cultural differences and the cultural breakdown in the black community since LBJ's "Great Society" program was initiated.
---
L-E story: "An audit has found the School Nutrition Program in the Muscogee County School District made several accounting mistakes last school year, but the problems were corrected in time for the system’s overall financial statements to receive a “clean” report, the district’s chief financial officer said Monday night. * After the meeting, Superintendent David Lewis, whom the board hired in July from Polk County, Fla., emphasized that no money was missing and no employees were fired. * “When I found out the issue, I met with staff and took corrective action,” Lewis said." -- "no employees were fired"? ... "corrective action"? Just where did Lewis learn what "corrective action" is.. from watching Obama's examples? And the MCSD board just sat there, ala Joel Chandler Harris' "Tarbaby" and 'don't say nuttin'.... This cannot bode well for the taxpayers.. slaps on the wrist with wet noodles do not put the fear of God or repercussion into the minds of employees responsible for accounting for other people's money!
---
What's the latest odds on winning a major lottery... something like a 1-in-175,000,000? Have you thought about that if 1/2 of our population bought a lottery ticket, and all had different number combinations, that there'd still be 25,000,000 number combinations not chosen? Even a 1-in-25,000,000 chance is not very good.
---
On a local subject.. read (or maybe not waste your time) the letter in the L-E written by CSU 's Assistant professor of Psychology and Sociology, John Studstill. This guy is teaching college students, and has absolutely nothing to offer them towards analyzing and solving problems. I think I'm going to petition the courts and university system to change his name to a more fitting on... Mind Stoodstill.
---
You know, I am for sharing the roads with bicyclists. Was once a serious rider myself. Have trips to area towns and Panama City to back up my claim. I'm also for bicyclists' responsibility and accountability. Why shouldn't bike owners/riders register and buy annual permits/tags for this privilege? If you're gonna "share the road", sharing the costs needs to be a requirement. Otherwise. bicyclists do not share the maintenance involved.

L-E story: " BOSTON — It’s kind of a big deal that Emerson College is changing the name of its school of communication. * The college in Boston will rename the school — for one day only — the Ron Burgundy School of Communication on Dec. 4 to honor the fictitious television anchorman. " -- Good grief! Maybe to Judas 00-bama and Bleep Veep Biden this is a "BFD", but to a sane society, this is a disregard for the sanctity of the First Amendment. Why not change "60 Minutes" to SNL's Weekend Update? Or, how about changing Chris Matthews' show to "Laugh In Looks at the News"? (Well, "Laughed At looks at the News would actually be accurate.) Or better yet, rename "The Masters" the Caddy Shack Invitational.
