Online story: "Willie Nelson has put his tour on hiatus after three members of his band were injured in a bus crash. * NBC News reports that at 3:30 a.m. Saturday, the bus hit a bridge pillar on Interstate 30 approximately 80 miles east of Dallas. Nelson was not on board at the time of the accident." -- Hmmm, bet the 3 injured were resting comfortably WHEN the ambulances arrived as they probably had administered medical marijuana they had in the bus's First Aid kit.

L-E headline: "Crowd of 1,750 calls for closing institute at Fort Benning" -- Of course, this was the number as "Hasn't Ever Ben Wright", hack reporter of the L-E came up with, so it the "wright" number was probably 17 police and 50 protestors. In "Wright-ese", 17 + 50 = 1750.
---
L-E story: "After 23 years of protesting to close the Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation at Fort Benning, former Georgia NAACP State Conference president Edward DuBose used words from the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. to energize a crowd Saturday outside the Benning Road gate. * “I don’t care how many years it takes, I don’t care how few people are left when we get to the end,” said DuBose, a Columbus resident and former NAACP branch president. “Dr. King understood something that you understand now. The ark of the moral universe is long and it always bends toward justice.” -- "The ark of the moral universe is long and it always bends toward justice"? Edward Dubose...interested in "the moral universe"? Edward Dubose...interested in "justice"? I guess Dubose was in the right place speaking to the right people because Dubose's concept of "moral universe" and "justice" are just as warped as well.

Online headline: "Obama: Iran Deal An 'Important First Step'" -- Huh? Judas 00-bama is talking about a "first step"? We've been down this road before, and know he won't take that 'first step' over a line drawn in the sand.
---
Online story: "NEW YORK, Nov 23 (Reuters) - Caught flat-footed by the challenges of building the financial-management and accounting parts of the U.S. government's new online marketplace for health insurance, officials rushed to hire a familiar contractor without seeking competing bids, according to government procurement documents reviewed by Reuters. * The documents dated in August - less than two months before the opening of online marketplaces established by President Barack Obama's landmark healthcare law - showed the agency in charge had only "recently learned" that building the financial management functions was "beyond (its) currently available resources.* Those problems and others have been revealed by congressional oversight investigators who released emails and outside reports that paint an administration scrambling to meet the technological challenges of the marketplace - and usually failing to do so." -- I guess Judas 00-bama is reading about this for the first time today... yeah.. right..
---
In the same story but of bigger concern: "A few weeks after taking office in 2009, Obama issued a memorandum to government agency heads ordering them to minimize the use of non-competitive contracts, calling them potentially "wasteful, inefficient, subject to misuse." -- Talk about abuse and misuse of tax dollars, this is nothing short of political graft and bribery! Even Reid and Pelosi should be outraged by this!
---
Remember when the mainstream media went after Nixon on the basis of no man, not even the President, is above the law?
---
Online story: "Iran struck a historic nuclear deal Sunday with the United States and five other world powers, in the most significant development between Washington and Tehran in more than three decades of estrangement between the two nations" -- Yeah, right.. if you read the 'fine print'. Iran probably agreed to let the UN to only check for nuclear arms in Iran's Swiss Embassy.
---
Online headline: "Duke Lacrosse Rape Accuser Found Guilty In Boyfriend's Murder" -- Hmmm, wonder if Al Sharptongue will be back defending her virtue this time.
---
Online headline: "Zumba instructor behind sex ring released from jail" -- Hmm.. you guessed it... early release for "good behavior"... Hmmm, isn't that sorta the reason she got arrested?
---
Georgia Southern beat Florida... in Florida... 26-20. And they did it on the ground.. GA Southern only threw 3 passes, and completed none of those.

Passed along by a fellow BCer:
The 13th Amendment to abolish slavery was voted for by 100% of the Republicans in congress and by only 23% of the Democrats in congress.
Not one Democrat in the Congress of the United States voted for the 14th amendment declaring that former slaves were full citizens of the state in which they lived and were therefore entitled to all the rights and privileges of any other citizen in that state.
Not a single one of the 56 Democrats in Congress voted for the 15th amendment that granted explicit voting rights to black Americans.
---
McClatchy story: "WASHINGTON — After pushing through one of the most significant rule changes in Senate history, Majority Leader Harry Reid struck a solemn tone: "This is not a time for celebration." -- Huh? Not only is this an oxymoron of political-ese, Harry Reid is an old moron.
---
Arkansas is this weeks ugly uniform winner. It goes well with its ugly season, but has no place in the SEC. Missouri has 'won' once and been a contender another time, but MIZZU hasn't been around enough for chastisement. Arkansas should be embarrassed.
---
Arkansas wasn't without competition for the ugly uniform award this week. UNC was hanging in there pretty tough.
---
L-E story: "A possible accidental shooting has left a 15-year-old boy wounded in the neck and another teen charged with reckless conduct, Columbus police said Saturday. * A----- J---- C-----, 17, also was charged with minor in possession of a pistol and held in the Muscogee County Jail on bonds totaling $2,750. -- Again.. we are not facing a racial issue here... it's a cultural collapse.. Kids, who have been educated in public schools that they have no personal responsibility to themselves, others, or their community/country are armed. Not a good mix.
---
A fellow BCer reminds us that he remembers no shootings on his school's campus. Me neither, and I don't even recall any teacher or administrator being upset at a truck parked in the student lot with a gun rack & rifle mounted on the rear truck window.
---
Www.barackobama/organizing for action.com made fun of John Boehner getting signed up for OObamaCRAP in a single day. Let's also note it took him nearly 5 hours to complete due to error messages, so it was not very efficient Also, please note that it's pretty obvious neither Pelosi, Reid, OO-bama nor Sebelius has announced any success with signing up themselves.
---
Online quote site: " “Open your eyes, look within. Are you satisfied with the life you're living.” ― Bob Marley " -- Hmmm, bet this is not in Judas 00-bama's AM bathroom routine.
---
L-E headline/story: "Car tag scanners would track Tybee Island tourists * Tybee Island Mayor Jason Buelterman says the city government mostly wants car tag data for a tourism study to help secure state and federal funding for beach maintenance projects" -- I've already opined on this last week, but it has 'finally"
shown up in the L-E, so I will comment again. The Mayor's "reasoning'" violates the 4th Amendment. and as far as I'm concerned, Tybee Island will not see my tag (or my money) in the future. Tag scanners used by police for police business are one thing.. in the hands of politicians is another.

The L-E published a list of names that new MCSD superintendent David Lewis has met with since he came to Columbus... not only is it unabashed 'name dropping', it's also a huge waste of 'trees'. The L-E could have listed the names in one sentence.. no actually a phrase if the L-E simply said Lewis had met with "the usual suspects".
---
Speaking of names that were "dropped".. the name Karl Douglass appears on that list as a 'local real estate broker". How about "the rest of the story". Douglass is also a columnist for the L-E AND a paid re-election staffer for Congressman Bishop. That makes me very wary... a real estate broker/columnist who's connected with a Congress man but the L-E never connects that triad.

L-E "Quotable": “When evangelical Christians are willing to overlook a politician’s three marriages spiced with open adultery as long as he’s good on school prayer, we clearly have moved to a new point in this ongoing discussion. - Michael Kinsley, American journalist, (1951- )" -- Well, he almost got it right. The most needed discussion is why Democratic Party bloc voters will re-elect a Democratic politician with those flaws just because the politician says he/she supports (but actually doesn't) the one issue the bloc voter bases his/her choice on.

From the Council Agenda published in the L-E:
Grants requested from Public Safety LOST revenues:
BOXWOOD PROJECT - $80,000.00
COLUMBUS TECHNICAL COLLEGE, NONVIOLENT FELON EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM - $80,000.00
FAMILY CENTER OF COLUMBUS, F.A.S.T. PROGRAM - $87,000.00
ADULT DRUG COURT - $75,000.00
E.I.T.A. (Education Is The Answer Inc.) - $45,000.00
MENTAL HEALTH COURT - $75,000.00
CHATTAHOOCHEE VALLEY JAIL MINISTRY INC - $41,500.00
LITERACY ALLIANCE OF COLUMBUS PROGRAM - $105,000.00
NEIGHBORHOOD FOCUSED ON AFRICAN AMERICAN YOUTH IN - $55,000.00
SAMARC FOUNDATION - $50,000.00
Here is $693,500.00 worth of Public Safety funds being given to programs that for the most part pay administrative costs with tax dollars. There are a couple, but no more, recipients that will use the money fpr recipients' needs. What I would like to see is that each grant recipient document it's organizations total receipts and expenses to be within certain parameters before any grants are made, and we're talking about 990 forms and IRS forms being submitted with any requests.

One of the lesser known aspects of the McCarron legacy at Alambama is that big brother completed a pass to his little brother. I bet mom & dad were more proud of that than either son or Coach Saban.
