Trump was magnificent in Miami yesterday.. he's keeping his promises!
---
Online headline/story: "Trump says he's under investigation, takes swipe at Rosenstein * "I am being investigated for firing the FBI Director by the man who told me to fire the FBI Director! Witch Hunt," Trump wrote." -- I guess the sequence makes sense to mainscream media.. but it looks like Trump has some more "firing" to do.
---
Online story: "After a shooter in Alexandria left House Majority Whip Steve Scalise in critical condition and wounded four other people, a longtime New Jersey Democratic political strategist responded by introducing the hashtags #HuntRepublicans and #HuntRepublicanCongressmen. * The Democratic strategist also wrote on Facebook that he had “little sympathy” for Scalise because of his lack of support for gun control." -- James Devine.. Remember the name...Devine has run for office, consulted for numerous New Jersey campaigns, and worked in the offices of state lawmakers.
---
L-E story: "Congressman Sanford D. Bishop Jr. said Thursday he is pleased with the passage by the U.S. House Appropriations Subcommittee on Military Construction and Veterans Affairs of the first of 12 spending bills that the House will consider for FY2018 appropriations. * According to a press release, included in that bill is $28 million for a Fort Benning training support facility and $10.8 million for a Fort Benning air traffic support tower. * Bishop, who represents Georgia’s 2nd Congressional District, is a senior member of the committee." -- Good grief.. Bishop had "zip" \to do with his.. The Republicans approved this, and Trump signed it.. Bishop just "tagged along" to get his name and possible picture in the newspaper..

You know.. back in the mid-60s, I asked my grandfather (84 at the time) if he had any regrets in life.. His initial response was , "no".. then he mulled it a bit, and said, "I do have one..:I didn't buy the Ledger back in 1930 when Julian Harris, his to-be-lifetime-friend, came to me.. I thought about his offer, but told him "no" because if I did, the first thing I'd have to do was fire him as he didn't have the business skills top run the paper"... I bring this up, as somebody suggested that "someone.. how about you, needs to buy the L-E so Columbus can have a good newspaper going into the future". I told him that the L-E/McClatchy has about guaranteed this can not happen.. It's no longer a simple buy-out. A new owner can not step in to an existing situation and just "change things". The L-E is no longer a real business here.. it doesn't have a printing facility and basically just leases office space. To start up a new paper, one will have to build/buy a building, and purchase all the printing equipment, and with the few subscribers/advertisers the L-E currently has, the numbers would not dictate it being a smart investment.. Sorry to say this, but Columbus' future identity is in trouble.

I like Jeff Sessions. America has a great Attorney General after 8 years of White House lapdogs.
---
I'm not sure why, but isn't it nice, though odd, that we hardly know whether Jesse Jackson or Al Sharlatan are still working? Seriously, where are they?
---
Just heard an ad about converting your IRA account into GOLD, which you can then keep at home....hmmm ..wait a minute.."keep at home"? I thought IRA's were set up for personal savings, but with the government "keeping it" under lock and key until you retired.
---
Online story: "Rolling Stone will pay a University of Virginia fraternity $1.65 million, settling the lawsuit over a 2014 discredited story about a campus rape, a report said." -- Hmm.. now total justice would be that the VA fraternity take the $1.65 MILLION, buy manure and have it dropped on/in the Rolling Stones offices.
---
L-E headline: "U.S. looks to troop surge in Afghanistan" -- Adding 4,000 more troops? How about restoring America's presence to a safer level after Obama left 5,500-to-8,000 American soldiers without someone covering their backs...

L-E commentary headline: "We should call domestic terror what it really is"
-- Yes! And the definitive name is "The Democratic Party Political Playbook To
Return to Power".

L-E headline/story: "Former Brookstone standout Clark leads Southeastern
Amateur * (Former Brookstone standout and current Georgia Tech golfer James)
Clark leads at 15-under, followed by Jonathan Hardee of Boiling Springs, S.C.,
at 13-under and Dillon Woods of Jacksonville, Fla., at 10-under. * Ben Carr, a
senior-to-be at Columbus High, is 3-under after three rounds, shooting 69 each
day." -- Finally... the L-E "mentions" that the 88th Southeastern Amateur exists
and is being played.. and that 3 golfers left after the cut, including the
leader, are from Columbus.. Of course, only 2 of the 88 players from around the
country NOT from Columbus will have need to take souvenir copies of the L-E home
with them as the L-E has completely IGNORED the other 86's presence and
contribution (physical and FISCAL) to our community.
