The liberal purge continues..Matt Lauer was fired by NBC .. Now it seems that the "big question" is: Who can they get to replace Matt Lauer? Hmmm... in my book, eeny-WEENIE-miney-Moe.

From the "you know the mainscream media has carried its witch hunt purge too far" department - L-E headline: "Keillor fired, says he put his hand on a woman’s back" -- Garrison "Prairie Home Companion" Keillor? Man, if Minnesota demands a pound of flesh of Garrison Keillor, Minnesota Senator Franken will have to gain weight to pay off his debt.

After not-soon-enough-for-me-Ex-District 133- Representative John Pezold has publicly sided with Buzz Brockway of Lawrenceville over Columbus' own Senator Josh McKoon for the Republican nomination for GA's next Secretary of State position, I do believe the Muscogee County Republican Party now needs to make a statement of support for one or the other. There's a Republican Party meeting coming up in a few days.. ironically at a Pezold family owned hotel, which would be a good time to announce its choice. Any delay is not showing support for Josh McKoon would be a slap in his face.

You know, with the spotlight in football to eliminate "targeting".. using one's helmet as a battering ram, a simple adjustment to the helmet would pretty much eliminate the urge of even the "dirtiest" of players.. A Taser Button in the crown of the helmet that zaps the wearer if the button is triggered by compression.

So a Yugoslav war criminal killed himself using poison following an appeal of his sentence. Hmmm.. maybe we could place such a "cocktail" in front of OUR death sentenced convictees as an option.

I tell you what, after seeing the huge influx of big rigs filling the I-states around Atlanta, and the number of catalogs delivered to our mailbox compared to last year, I think I can safely say, "America is BACK, Baby!" Go Trump!

From the 'bah humbug'" department - Online headline/story: "Neighbors petition to shut down family's Christmas display * A long-time Christmas lights display at a Fairfield home has neighbors running out of patience. * This neighborhood sees over 30,000 visitors during the holiday season, which causes parking problems. So, 45 residents of Sawyer Road, which connects to Roseville Terrace, have signed a petition. * The Halliwell family, who built the display to over 350,000 lights over 18 years, is also working to appease the neighbors. * The Halliwells don't charge admission but donations over the nearly two decades have totaled in the tens of thousands. All the money going to the Shriners Children's Hospital in Springfield." -- Guess we shouldn't be too surprised ..Massachusetts IS a Democrat "safe zone".. now, I hope a judge intervenes and makes all the petition signers pony up matching (or higher) donations to the Shriners Childrens Hospital that will be eliminated if the site is closed down.

Went to the Citizens Service Center yesterday...basically to drop off my 2017 property taxes. I figured there would be a "drop box"... I figured wrong..Was told that there were so many tax appealed properties that it was decided NOT to provide a "drop box". Hmmm, I wondered, why wasn't a "drop box" available for all who WEREN'T involved with an appeal. Common sense does not exist in government. I did decide to stand in line rather than go to the Post Office and mail it..cost me about a hour of time, but it was also inspiring..I'm fully inspired to stand in line for as long as it takes to vote to get different officials elected.

You know, as much an issue as Mayor Tom-LYING-son made about closing all the ingress doors at the Citizens Service Center because all citizens needed to be screened for weapons and she could only afford to provide security at one door, I was truly surprised that there was no screening being done yesterday...I made a comment to a CPD officer standing in line to pay his taxes, too, "You know. I would think the security screening index would be high today with do many frustrated citizens coming in to pay their taxes." He responded with a agreeing chuckle ... followed by a telling a sigh.

L-E headline/story: "MYANMAR CONTROVERSY * Pope can’t avoid criticism over Rohingya issue * “Nobody ever said Vatican diplomacy is infallible,” the Vatican spokesman, Greg Burke, said at a news briefing here Wednesday evening. He said that no one in the Vatican had second-guessed the pope’s decision to avoid mentioning the Rohingya or considered pulling the plug on the visit, which even the pope’s supporters consider a tactical blunder for a usually politically surefooted pontiff. * “He is not afraid of minefields,” Burke said, bristling at the notion that the trip had damaged the moral authority that is the pope’s most powerful diplomatic asset." -- Once again.. Francis re-earns his title of POOP Francis.

L-E headline/story: "Muscogee County 2018 tax digest could be in jeopardy * Muscogee County tax assessors’ plans to extend a contract with Tyler Technologies to help with a backlog resulting from unprecedented tax appeals were stalled Tuesday when four Columbus councilors voted against the proposal. * Council voted 5 to 4 in favor of the addendum, but the vote was inconclusive because one more vote was needed. Those voting in favor were Councilors Skip Henderson, Evelyn “Mimi” Woodson, Jerry “Pops” Barnes, Mike Baker and Mayor Pro “Tem” Evelyn Turner-Pugh. Those opposed were Councilors Glenn Davis, Judy Thomas, Gary Allen and Garrett Walker. Councilor Bruce Huff was absent when the vote was taken. * Prior to the vote, City Manager Isaiah Hugley told Council extra help was needed in the Tax Assessor’s Office because all available resources had been directed toward reviewing appeals over the last four months. He reminded councilors of a presentation made by Deputy Chief Appraiser John Williams at a previous meeting notifying them of the situation." -- Hmmm.. you know.. this would be an issue had the Board of Tax Assessors SIMPLY decided to revert to the 2016 values and initiate the new ones (after all appeals had been addressed/dealt with) beginning in 2018. The furor and frustrations could have been dealt with more adequately.

While I appreciate the forum the L-E offers to print citizens views, the L-E should not "edit" out "content" from them. The letter printed in today's L-E concerning John Pezold had what I consider a vital point "edited out".. The letter I wrote included this sentence " Last year, he co-lead the onslaught of our Constitutionally upheld Tax Freeze with Mayor Tomlinson. " following the first sentence.

Dilly Dilly L-E!
Here is the complete letter submitted to the L-E:
"Once again.. we still have another year of John Pezold's personal interests to live with as the GA House District 133 Representative.. I hope we survive. Last year, he co-lead the onslaught of our Constitutionally upheld Tax Freeze with Mayor Tomlinson. This year, he's decided to back Buzz Brockway for GA Secretary of State in spite of Columbus' own Josh McKoon running for the same post. Pezold's "excuse" is that he made a promise BEFORE he knew McKoon would join in running for the position. I ask.. does this not reek of what "backroom political promises" have done over the years? The Republicans do need to get their candidate elected as the Secretary of State's office is in control of keeping our voting lists "fraud free". Buzz Brockway may be a very good choice..and if he should get the call, I'll probably vote for him.. (I'll go so far as to promise now to send his campaign a donation should he win the primary).. but.. winning is the key for GA's future, and if Brockway wins, there is little chance that Columbus's Democrat leaning voter populace will help. Now, if Josh McKoon is the Republican choice, Columbus and Georgia both win.. (and I cannot name another Columbus patron who has held a GA state-wide office since I started voting in 1965) Having the Secretary of State from Columbus will be a plum for us.. and.. if Josh McKoon is the Republican choice, even the L-E will have to consider that what's best is having a local citizen in office rather than endorsing whomever the Democrats nominate. I have one question to ask Pezold.. what did he get in return for making a promise to support Brockway.. surely Brockway would understand if he broke away to support Josh McKoon. And I'm pretty sure if an elected Representative of of Brockway's hometown of Lawrenceville were in the same predicament because he/she committed to an out-of-towner before knowing about Brockway's intentions, the other candidate would understand.
