The Breakfast Club - September 7, 2010

Do you realize tha 1000's of children are going to school for the first time in the 2010-11 school year today, while all of Muscogee County children (except for the Northern LL All-Stars) have been going for 4 sweltering weeks here in the MCSD?

Online story: "Terry Jones, the pastor at Dove World Outreach Center, told MSNBC's Chris Matthews that his church has declared Sept. 11 as "International Burn a Quran Day," and added that he hoped the burning of the Muslim religion's holy text "will be as it is intended, as a warning. * That the proposed actions of Jones' church, which counts just 50 members in its congregation, should reverberate so loudly across the world is itself a telling sign of tensions between the West and the Muslim world, as well as what some see as a growing distrust of Islam in the United States." -- I'm amazed that a group of 50 could get the media attention so that the world (and me) are even discussing this. Now, this is a 'church' that should have its IRS status revoked.

potUS Imam-a claims the Republicans treat worse than a dog... What kind of dog. potUS Imam-a, a yellow dog DIM/DUMBorat socialist, or a blue dog DIM/DUMBorat elitist socialist, or like 'Bo', your dog who, if he can;t ride in Air Force 1, gets his own private jet?
---
Watched a video of illegal aliens easily climbing over a seemingly imposing fence on our border. It raised two questions: Why were foot and hand holds 'designed' into the fence, and why isn't some sort of low voltage electric charge sent through that fence?
---
One of my observations about whether the economy is improving or not is the flow of semis going into and leaving Atlanta on I-85. Drove through there this weekend and the roads are still sparse of commerce.
---
L-E story: "The Chambers County Sheriff's Office will conduct a funeral for Kilo, the department's K-9 on Tuesday. * The service will be at 4:30 p.m. at the Chambers County Agricultural Park and Rodeo Arena which is located in LaFayette, Ala. on Highway 431." -- Excuse me; I love dogs, but don't tell me our Public Safety is going to send a caravan of police officers to attend the funeral of a dog, but that's not my beef. Why is the L-E carrying a story of a dog's funeral when the L-E consistently fails to notify the public upon the death of Columbus citizens who spent a lifetime making this city a better place to live for all?
---
From the 'only in California' department: News is so warped in LA that they use helicopters to cover dogs running on a freeway. Who are they trying to find.. Michael Vick in pursuit?
---
Phenomenal! Once again a fellow BCer has brought to light something that all we enjoy and be amazed. Google "Army-Navy jump rope dance" and be prepared for an unbelievable 8 minute display of athleticism. stamina, and talent. Pass this along to your children and grandchildren!
---
Observing video clips of the 25-30 National Guardsmen potUS Imam-a has ordered to the Arizona/Mexico border, it looks like all 25-30 are patrolling the same one block area. Guess Imam-a will be counting this as a "win", but will the NG still be there in two weeks when the cameras leave?
---
What is the reason that federal construction contracts require salaries be comparable with union levels? All it has done is 'outsource' the jobs to illegal aliens who have crossed our border to land the jobs.
---
Should Mother Teresa Obamalinson become our next mayor, she'd be a visual improvement over any previous mayor, but I sure can't imagine letting her get her hands on out 2 "LOST" slush funds. The Parks & Rec slush fund would be small potatoes in comparison. You know, after thinking about her attempt to get a referendum passed to 'allow' housing and infrastructure to be paid for by tax dollars in blighted neighborhoods, I can imagine what she'd do with the Public Safety/Infrastructure slush funds, and it scares me.

Have you seen the TV ad for Viagra where it ends with a caption "See our ad in Golf Magazine"? If Viagra is going to claim 'you can hit it harder and farther', sales should soar; even if Viagra says it only makes it easier 'to tee up', sales should improve.
---
Online headline/story: "US Forces Drawn Into Fighting Baghdad Battle * Two of the four attackers even managed to fight their way inside the compound and were only killed after running out of ammunition and detonating explosives belts they were wearing."Hmm.. ..Obviously the Taliban didn't watch "The Roy Rogers Show". Remember when the 'bad guys' ran out of ammo, they threw their guns at Roy, and Roy holstered his so he could fight them hand-to-hand. Even then, something told me that wasn't very realistic.
---
Some reports state that illegal immigration at the Mexican border has dropped. If that doesn't send a sharp message to potUS Imam-a that the job market is not improving then nothing will.
---
In his Saturday 'fireside chat', potUS Imam-a said he finally realized that he needed to work on the economy. If he listened to Fox News early on rather than his sycophant staff, he could have gotten onto this wagon 18 months ago. Now if he'll keep listening to Fox, he might learn how to do something about it!
---
Online headline: "Serial Killer Action Figure at Toys R Us Stirs Debate" -- Debate? How about 'boycott'!
---
A story in the L-E concerning a separate survey (fineable if you don't comply) being sent out by the US Census 'authority' inclides a question about 'income'. Now that's a job for the IRS, not the Census Bureau!
---
L-E's "Thought for Today, “Nothing is more unpleasant than a virtuous person with a mean mind.” — Walter Bagehot (BAJ’-uht), English editor and economist (1826-1877)." -- Boy have times changed! I can think of two biggies off the bat: A DIM/DUMBorat voting on moral rights, and a news journalist injecting his bias as fact.
---
L-E headline/story: " Free Wednesday admissions to state parks may come to an end * ATHENS, Ga. — Budget trouble could mean the end of free Wednesday admission to Georgia’s state parks. * The perk allows visitors to skip the $5 admission fee, which costs the Department of Natural Resources about $400,000 annually." -- Hmmm..typical government thinking...scratch that...government 'feeling'. Is the government implying that a program that attracts 80,000 people to the parks that otherwise might not go is a bad thing, or does the government not capitalize on 80,000 people having money in their pockets to purchase concessions/snacks while at the parks?
---
C.L. Martin, Columbus, wrote in today's L-E: "Glenn Beck’s rally for old, angry, and ignorant white people seems to have been as successful as months of free promoting on Fox could have made it. For the rest of us, perhaps some perspective is in order." -- If C L Martin had written , "(fill in a name)'s rally for old. angry, and ignorant (fill in a color other than white) people", would the L-E have printed it?

Need another sure fire economic indicator? You only have to compare the number of pages in the L-E Tuesday Foreclosure to the number of pages in "Sports".
