If Council thinks that lifting the tax freeze is such a good idea, then Council needs to approach the idea with a different approach other than that of a grandiose vision of a huge windfall. Put the assessment office on the spot to make sure every property is properly "valued" first, then freeze the current revenue receipts for a two year period while 'the dust settles' during a re-allocation period in which every property is reassessed to it's 'fair share' percentage of property taxes, A lot of newer houses/recent sales will get reductions as older properties get upward adjustments. The caveat will be that older neighborhood, fixed-income property owners will be hit harder, especially in South Columbus.

Group hug for Dot McClure....

L-E headline: "Thurmond: No. 1 priority is job creation" -- The head of GA's Department of Labor when unemployment and job losses have skyrocketed thinks he can create jobs as a Senator? Maybe the next Governor should just eliminate the job Thurmond is vacating, and distribute the salary to unemployment benefits.

Today is the 2-week mark from the November 2010 election date. From past experiences, this is the traditional date for some DIM/DUMBorat political chicanery.
---
Online headline: "Viacom's 'Jackass' Franchise Makes Triumphant Return" -- Ooops, my bad... thought Sumner Redstone had taken over active control again.
---
With 70% of the last "LOST" revenues pledged to "Public Safety" adding a low of $20+ Million per year being available for "Public Safety", there shouldn't be problems with making sure our "Public Safety" departments are well-funded. That is, if the Mayor and Council don't divert those funds to other projects such as programs best served by Parks and Recreation. Of course, under recent disclosures, maybe Parks & Rec should be put directly under Chief Boren.

If Roy Barnes' record from his past term were good enough to run on in this election, why wasn't he re-elected following his term as Governor?
---
What ever Barnes says about Deal, remember that Deal stands by his family in tough times, and it's been obvious that Deal did not go to Washington and stuff his pockets with personal wealth. Name another Congressman that can say that.

The Mayor brought in the Tampa, FL Police Chief; excerpts include:
"Officers must find out what the problems are in their area and fix them. We tell the members of a neighborhood that they are our eyes and ears. They are the ones who know what the problems are in the community,” Castor said. * She said Tampa police keep residents in the neighborhoods informed by e-mail about crime happening in their area." -- Why doesn't the CPD have a website with a pin map of recent crimes that citizens can note regarding areas close to their homes? Why doesn't the L-E publish a listing of crimes daily?
*
"Each district has an analyst to provide daily intelligence to officers. The analysts provide a daily report that identifies when particular crimes are occurring, how and where they are being committed and who the likely offenders are." -- The basic tools of good police work..."profiling". Hmmm, that'll go over well with trial attorneys and other liberals; and especially, Edward DuBose!
---
L-E headline: "Obama stumps for Senate candidates * President laments damage economy has done to Dems" -- Actually, 'stumps' is all the DIM/DUMBorats have left, and while potUS Imam-a thinks the economy has damaged the DIM/DUMB party, the voters see how the DIM/DUMBs have nearly annihilated the USA!
