In spite of her charms, and pleasantness for a mayor, Mother Teresa Obamalinson IS still a lawyer, and there are two distinct areas that bother me about putting her where she can direct the revenues collected in the slush fund we thought was going to be limited to Public Safety and Infrastructure. One is her previous desire to commandeer tax dollars to build housing in still declining neighborhoods. Smart money waits for an area to bottom out before reinvesting. The second is that after all her promotion of MidTown, she moved her business out of the MidTown sector. MidTown could have benefited from a growing business.

When I went to the Tax office Wednesday to pay my business ad valor em taxes, I saw something that surprised, as well as pleased, me. Above each teller's window was a decal/sticker: "Proud to be an American"....with no hyphen!
