WRBL News3 story: " One item Georgia residents will be asked to decide when they go to the polls is a 10-year sales tax increase. * The one percent transportation special purpose local option sales tax, or T-SPLOST, will be used for infrastructure projects around the state." -- 10 year? As I-net messagers would apt to respond, "ROFLMAO" ! Remember that the 1st MCSD SPLOST was supposed to be a one-time way to fix everything in a hurry.

---

The T-SPLOST reminds me of of the MCSD SPLOST; ask the ones running for re-election, how short will the revenues be to cover the $225+/- MILLIONS in projects? Ask them what they are going to cut out of "the list".

---

Sudden windfall influxes in tax revenues, such as SPLOSTs, is akin to giving a child a $20.00 bill by mistake instead of the $1.00 you meant, and sending him into a candy store alone.

From a fellow BCer, a much needed reminder we should not forget, pass it on to your representatives: Ronald Reagan Tribute -- Bel Air Presbyterian Church - YouTube

From another BCer: Original Chinese or Bible Proverb:
“Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish… and you
feed him for a lifetime.”

Latest Proverb:

“Give a man a welfare check, a cell phone, cash for his clunker, food stamps,
section 8 housing, Medicaid, 100 weeks of unemployment checks, a 40-ounce malt
liquor, needles, drugs and
contraceptives … and he will vote Democrat for a lifetime.”

I'm still undecided about whether to make a change in the Superior Court Clerk's race. One has said she knows how to save $350+ thousands of dollars, but I haven't seen or heard how. Knowing would probably influence my thought processes.

L-E's "Thought for Today": “They always say that time changes things, but you actually have to change them yourself.” — Andy Warhol (1928-1987). " -- Vote...... vote for change in July and November.

---

L-E story: "NEWTON, Mass. — U.S. Rep. Barney Frank has tied the knot with his longtime partner in a ceremony officiated by Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick. * Frank spokesman Harry Gural says the 72-yearold congressman married 42-year-old Jim Ready in a Saturday evening wedding at the Boston Marriott hotel in Newton." -- Ordinarily, I wouldn't comment on someones private life but they've chosen to promote themselves publicly, and I cannot let a good 'pun' opportunity slip by. Hmmm, 72 and 42...30 years apart. Guess the working movie title will be "A 'Gay'-December Bromance".

Pugh versus Harbison....interesting face off this year. One question should be posed to Pugh... As iy seems, if he wins the State Senate post, will he resign from his job as CEO of the Urban League of Greater Columbus. The Urban League is supported by local, state and federal grants, and his political involvement should be consdiered a major conflict of interest. We should ask for Sanford Bishop to make known publicly where he stands since Pugh's wife, Columbus Council's Evelyn Turner-Pugh is paid to work for Congressman Bishop's re-election.

L-E headline/story: "Four car burglaries reported at same location * The owner of a 2007 four-door Acura reported that a camera bag and camera equipment valued at $2,500 was taken. He said the doors were locked, and he didn’t know how entry was made into the car." -- Hmmm.... is there another camera buff out there who would leave his/her prize camera in his/her car...especially in the summer or winter whether temp extremes could cause damage? I don't.. and won't.

---

L-E headline: "ID laws could block thousands of 2012 votes " -- Yes! Especially illegal votes... Now, if we could get a law passed that makes ID's necessary to get absentee ballots, we might get honest elections...finally!

---

According to the L-E, voters in the DIM&DUMBERat primary will get to take a straw poll on whether "Should the state have an income-tax credit for home-energy costs?". Let me get this straight... people under certain income levels can get energy assistance on their bills from the utility coffers, and numerous other charity funds, and they would still get to file for income-tax credits? What's "fair" about that?
