I remember 2003 when about every reasonably attractive middle class home was priced at $349,999.00 because without proper screening processes in place, 22 out of 25 people looking to buy a home could get "qualified" at that price.

The USGA really screwed up yesterday when it did not immediately dismiss or confirm the ruling on whether Dustin Johnson caused his ball to move. It even affected the viewers from knowing where the contenders stood down the stretch. Shame on the USGA... double shame for calling it a penalty AFTER the round and results were over!!

---From the "look what I found looking up something else" department - Found a recent Top 10 list of the cities with the lowest tax rates... Needless to say, Columbus, GA was not on that list.. it was a list on what the average family pays in sales taxes, local property taxes and state income taxes.  City number 10 on the list is Miami, FL.. its citizens average $5,098.00 in overall state/local taxes. My property taxes.. with a Homestead Exemption and "Freeze" are more than that alone, and all the sale/SPLOST/LOST/T-SPLOST taxes are in addition..

One other city on the list was Honolulu, HI.. interestingly, Honolulu is number 5, and families average but $1,132.00 on sales taxes, and $798.00 on property taxes.. and I bet you won't hear Honolulu's Council and School board whining like ours in Columbus, GA.

He said he thinks they blasted one day last week and will likely blast one day this week." -- Excuse me.. but how do you install a new 8" pipeline on the "south" side of a thoroughfare that runs "North/South"? Oh... now we may have gotten insight as to why all the projects involving Vetertans Parkway are so behind schedule..

The problem could easily be solved for free if only Seniors or only students with 4.0 GPA's (or better) were allowed to drive to school each day.. Of course, the MCSD could have bought a house across from the baseball field that would have been big enough to handle the shortage of spaces the school has,, and will continue to have, after the $785,000.00 is spent on the Cherokee Avenue property.
