Varner could have made this "moot" if he had requested that the MCSD provide these figures earlier when Thomas wanted to see them which would j[have allowed an "off record" conversation. Vote for Shelia Williams and JoAnn Thomas Brown in the runoffs.. It's time we have a board composed of people who thing=k the MCSD is accountable to the taxpayers.

From the "pathetic" department - L-E headline/story: "Police: Mother had two kids assist in shoplifting at Peachtree Mall *  Columbus police Cpl. Jose Marrero said an officer was called to the Macy’s department store in the Peachtree Mall at 3131 Manchester Expressway around 9 p.m. Saturday to investigate a shoplifting. * A Macy’s security officer said he witnessed Thompson conceal nearly $200 worth of items into bags, hand them to her two children and attempt to leave the store without paying for the merchandise, police testified. * Marrero said Thompson has used her kids to shoplift at least twice before Saturday with one of those incidents occurring at a local Wal-Mart. He said the children, ages 9 and 8, were “definitely traumatized” after watching their mother get handcuffed on the scene." -- Hmm.. the times.. they have changed.. I can remember when a older teen shoplifting "gang" would swoop into one of our departments (at Kirven's), arrogantly stuff merchandise in shopping bags, then hand it off to a "tween/child" who would try to leave the building. Shoplifting laws were nothing more than a slap on the wrist for a child, and the older teens knew this and made the children earn their way into their group this way. I also remember learning that if we reported the child's misconduct to their parents, better results would happen to keep this from reoccurring..  Mama's would take care of the discipline.. now we have a mama CONTRIBUTING to her children's delinquency!

You know.. it must be disheartening for students who graduate from college to realize how much debt they agreed to pay for their education.. it'll be even more disheartening when they figure out that by taking out these "easy-to-get" loans, that  the loans were a large contributing factor to the cost of their own education.

I tell you what.. I'll listen to illegal aliens' complaints about their difficulties to blend into mainstream America if they go home and work hard at getting their countries to make it easier for Americans to get the same consideration in their countries.
