Online story: " The U.S. Senate on Monday rejected four measures restricting gun sales after last week's massacre in an Orlando nightclub, dealing a bitter setback to advocates who have failed to get even modest gun curbs through Congress despite repeated mass shootings." -- Thank God! Maybe Trump's presence has given more Republicans spine implants so they can... will.. stand up for what our forefathers created and left for us. We already have gun laws covering every aspect except the outright repeal of the 2nd Amendment.. what's wrong is the effect of "politically correct" background assessments, jural verdicts, sentencing, and parole decisions.

Online story: "A new poll released on Monday illustrates a major hurdle facing Donald Trump's electoral prospects. *  The University poll found presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton up seven points over Trump in a head-to-head general-election matchup. No third-party candidate received more than 10 percent support. * 49 percent of registered voters said that it is "very important" to make sure Trump is not elected president. The poll found that 41 percent said that it is "very important" to keep Clinton out of the White House." -- As the Five Man Electrical Band song might be updated says, :"Polls..polls.. everywhere a poll, blocking out reality, and breaking my mind, Voters will do this or won't do that. can't you read the polls?"  -- Good grief.. Does anyone think that our forefathers would ever understand that our government and media is more concerned about polls and political correctness than it is about our individual rights and national security? If there's a poll that NEEDS to be parsed is the one from a year or so that said Trump would never be the Republican nominee and that Hillary was pre-destined to win..will.. (perhaps "can" is a better word) the pundits please explain the failure of 16 Republican politicians, and Bernie still being in the Democrat mix?

Pop test: Before this item, were you aware that a 19 year old California "man" made an amateurish attempt to kill Trump at a rally Saturday in Las Vegas? Can you imagine the coverage of mainscream media had some 19 year old right wing conservative had tried (unsuccessfully, too) to take a security guard's gun at a Hillary rally?

Online story: "Apple CEO Tim Cook will host a private breakfast for Republican House Speaker Paul Ryan next week, Politico reports. * The breakfast is being hosted by Cook, according to the report, and not Apple itself. The event is expected to raise funds that will help elect House Republicans as well as Ryan. * The move is a sign that Apple remains a bipartisan tech company, even as it has withdrawn its support for the Republican National Convention because of presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump's controversial views and campaign." -- Hmmm...as I'm sure Cook will vote politically correct for Hillary, he's also seen the effect of a Democrat president given a Democrat majority Congress, and he wants no part of another two-year term that followed Slick Willie's and ZERO-bama's first elections.

Online headline: "Clintons leave hospital with new baby" -- "Clintons"? I guess Marc Mezvinsky now knows who will always wear the pants in their house.

---
This is the year for Cleveland.. first, a NBA championship, and soon it will be the city our nation revitalizes, too, as Trump formally gets the Republican nomination!

---
Online story: "Hillary has said, "I won't cut Social Security. ... I'll defend it, and I'll expand it." -- Hmmm.. well not exactly... what she will do is cut out those who fund it and redistribute our contributions to pay off campaign promises to Democratic Party voters..

---
Online headline: "Did Robert F. Kennedy stray in his marriage? New book reveals shocking rumors of infidelity" "rumors"? Good grief he was not only a Kennedy, but a Democrat as well, and could still possibly win a seat in Congress via a write-in movement.

HuffPOOPOO "story": "After a mass shooting in 1996, Australia banned semi-automatic rifles, shotguns and pump-action shotguns; brought in rigid licensing arrangements; and hosted a compulsory gun buyback that led to the destruction of nearly 1 million weapons. While this did not completely disarm the citizens of Australia, there hasn’t been a mass shooting there since." -- Hmmm.. but what's not said is that homicides since have not decreased and kidnappings are up.. Guess [arents don't have guns in tjeir homes to thwart off kidnappers.

---
Online story: "Online headline: "Uproar forces FBI to release unedited Orlando 911 calls * The FBI and DOJ came under criticism morning after publishing a redacted transcript of the conversations between police and the nightclub shooter." -- Well.. it looks like we know what it's going to take to get the FBI/DOJ to release all the evidence on Hillary.. as Scott Beamer said as he led the overthrow of terrorists on Flight 93, "Let's roll!"

---
HuffPOOPOO story: "New Mexico game wardens on Monday tracked down and killed a black mother bear that had attacked a marathon runner this weekend in the Valles Caldera National Preserve." -- Good grief.. next we'll hear she was also "unarmed", and protesters will flock there.

Local Columbus issue - Did you get your form letter from the City Planning Department about the proposed "overlay district" between River Road, J.R. Allen Parkway, and the Harris County line? I felt it interesting that if you want to speak in opposition to it, and have donated $250.00 or more in the last 2-years to any "local official of the City of Columbus", you have to fill out a Disclosure of Campaign Contributions form as required by Title 36, Chapter 67-A, Official Code of Georgia Annotated. While I think political influence should be transparent, I'd rather know who is pushing for this action and has contributed any amount  to these officials.

Looks like the Falcon's new Mercedes-Benz facility is gonna cost more than thought...currently, it's projected out at $1.6 billion versus the previous $1.5 billion. Interesting that those spending other people' money feel broadcasting it as .1 of a billion sounds a lot less than than $100,000,000.00!

From the "have you seen those pictures where people painting stripes of hiways have just painted over roadkill that was on their route" department": Ypu've seen possums and other critters that have been runover and the DOT was just too lazy to demand the workers clean up before finishing a project..well this is worse.. right here in Columbus, GA.. on the Whittlesey Road widening project, stands the epitome of what the DOT stands for... "Dumping On Taxpayers". This is located in the middle of a (hopefully) soon-to-be-open traffic lane just before the Rail Road crossing.. please note the meticulous details to make it neat at the base:

You know... when local races and special referendums are scheduled for non-General Election dates,  we need a law that insists that the results be invalidated if less than 50% of the registered voters participate,  and such races be added to the ballots on the November General Election Day.

L-E headline: "MUSCOGEE COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD * Board approves Lewis’ tentative budget *
Administration gained more support after 3-4 rejection last week Budget includes 2 percent raise for all teachers in the district, but Myers and Thomas contend the state’s allotment intends for it to be 3 percent Chambers and Cantrell change their votes from last week" -- Now, more than ever. need to JoAnn Thomas-Brown and Shelia Williams to be victorious in the July 26 runoff elections!
From story above: (Superintendent) Lewis replied, “Mr. Myers, you are certainly entitled to your opinion but not your own facts. And the facts are that we received, on paper, $5.7 million … but actual new revenue that we received was to the tune of $1.7 (million). … We love our teachers as well, but we also have the responsibility to be fiscally responsible going forward and to also compensate all of our employees who work hard.” -- Is building metal shed/slab floored wrestling rooms on already owned scholl property at $312.00 a square foot being "fiscally responsible"? How about spendin $56 MILLION on a replacement high school that isn't "needed"?
---
LIV's L-E "soundoff": "To the writer who thinks building walls is better for America than going to the moon, you do know that we have a God of peace ... not a God of walls?" -- Hmm.. and building a wall will help God help us eliminate the influx of desperate illegal aliens from walking uninvited, unfettered. and unvetted into our country. Vote Trump!
---
L-E's "   Thought for Today: “He, who will not reason, is a bigot; he, who cannot, is a fool; and he, who dares not, is a slave.” — William Drummond, Scottish writer (1585-1649)." -- Good grief.. is this not the platform of the Democratic Party? When has the Democratic Party stood up for individual rights on moral issues? PS - standing up for alternative issues is not standing up for the rights of all individuals.. this is nothing but "political correctness" on steroids.

L-E headline/story: "Char-Broil fires up construction on new headquarters * The symbolic breaking of ground Monday for the global headquarters building for grill manufacturer Char-Broil was punctuated by a blunt message from W.C. Bradley Co. Chief Executive Officer Marc OliviĆ©. *  “I think some people here in the Columbus area have been doubting at times that Char-Broil was here to stay. I think you have your answer,” he said. “This is truly the promise that we will continue to stay here and continue to have this as our worldwide headquarters, and continue to grow from here.” * The 25,000-square-foot office, which is being fashioned out of space where grills once were assembled by the company, is expected to be ready for occupancy by spring of next year. Grill manufacturing was moved to China more than a decade ago, with a million square feet of space on the site now Char-Broil’s primary North American distribution center." -- "a blunt message"? In my book, "a blunt message" was the one sent when the shipped the grill manufacturing to China and eliminated all the manufacturing jobs that were filled by local area people.. On he other hand, I do not blame Char-Broil.. I blame rampant Democratic Party imposed taxes and regulations that drove American businesses to seek relief so they could stay in business, and protect as many US jobs as they could.

L-E headline/story: "DA won’t prosecute Alabama football players on drug, weapons charges * District Attorney Jerry Jones explained... “I want to emphasize once again that the main reason I’m doing this is that I refuse to ruin the lives of two young men who have spent their adolescence and teenage years, working and sweating, while we were all in the air conditioning,”  *  (One player) was facing a felony charge of possession of a stolen firearm, two misdemeanor counts of possession of a firearm around a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance. (The other) was facing the same two misdemeanor counts.
The two were arrested at 2:33 a.m. on May 17 in Monroe after a policeman found their parked car sitting at Forsythe Park after park hours. The officer noted “a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle,” according to the arrest report. * The report also states the officer then found a handgun in (player 2's) lap, and the two were asked to step out of the car. The officer then found a small bag of marijuana in the driver’s seat floorboard and a handgun under (player 1's) seat. The gun had previously been reported stolen in Baldwin County according to Monroe police." -- Sounds like these two players were doing a lot more than
"working and sweating" while the DA sat around in his Air Conditioned environ.. Could it simply be that the DA plans to leave office and become a Defense Lawyer and is hoping one or both of the players will eventually become high paid professionals and will seek, and be able to hire said ex-DA as their attorney  later in life?
