Last year I was given a ticket at a speed trap on Mobley Road. I contested the charge and it was bound over to State Court. I had to pay $200.00 plus dollars to do so (basically prepaying the fines before my trial). Well, when I entered pretrial discussions and showed the agent my "visual evidence" in the State Court, my case was dismissed completely. ... until I went to retrieve the $200 plus dollars I paid to challenge the charges. When I got my money returned, it was $40.00 short. I inquired "why" and was told that the $40.00 was the Sheriff Department Fee, and was non-refundable. I wouldn't have brought up but it sorta fits in with the money grabbing philosophy of Mayor TomLYINGson.
