I felt I had hit the lottery yesterday.. the only daily medicine I take is a blood pressure medicine.. Benicar..Benicar went from $57.00 for a 30 day supply in 2005 to $254.00 for the same amount last month.. Yesterday, my pharmacist was just beaming when I went in to get a refill.. she could hardly contain herself that there was now generic version that came in that very day.. she filled it, and when she rang it up, the bill was $4.00... I was stunned.. I just saved $250.00... and will every month.. Now, I want to know how the FDA let the original manufacturer gouge me and others with price increase after price increase over the last 11 years when all along it could have sold it profitably for a price that allows Sam's to sell it for $4.00. Basically, what I was paying last month will buy me 5 years and 3+ months supply in the future.
