A conservative's daily look at the news with an aspect of "Laugh-In Looks at the News" and "Johnny Carson's monologue" twisted in.

Hmmm... The NCAA president has been exposed for having known about 37 sexual assaults involving Michigan State athletes.. that weren't properly addressed.. And MSU's head football coach knew of that 16 of those assault accusations have been filed against his players. Makes you wonder how many NFL accusations have been filed and whether NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell knows. Maybe Roger Goodell will get to "take a few knees in his groin".
---
You know, with as many sexual assaults being brought up against celebrity men, perhaps their best defense will be that before those happened, they had forgotten to mention they had already decided to consider themselves transgendered women..

From the "this is going to far" department - Online story: "Actress Nicole Eggert is accusing actor-director Scott Baio of having "molested" her repeatedly when she was 14 until she was 17. * In a series of tweets Saturday morning, the former Charles in Charge and Baywatch star told another Twitter user commenting on Baio's support for President Donald Trump, "Ask @scottbaio what happened in his garage at his house when I was a minor. Creep." -- Hey, Nicole Eggert... what were you doing being at Scott Baio's garage.. ... repeatedly...

I have a smidge of sympathy for the children brought in illegally by their parents, but zero sympathy for the parents...If there is a compromise on the table for a pathway for citizenship, it should only be for the children (and a set program to achieve it must be followed) and their parents and "chain" relatives should be prohibited from even visiting our country. Their DACA children can go back to their home country to visit them.
---
Trump says any deal involving DACA will require them paying taxes...if so, they need to be given a "Tax Identification Number", but not a Social Security number until they actually acquire citizenship.

Tollie Strode had a "kickoff" rally for hos at-large District 10 campaign on Saturday.. It was a packed and electrified audience, and his plans were dynamite. He has one announced opponent.. John House.. another good candidate.. we sure could use.. no, benefit, from both these men serving the Columbus community. I'm going to approach Col. House on changing his focus to run for Mayor rather than Council.. Both these men love Columbus, and Columbus would doubly benefit if both serve us.

Online headline/story: "Reporter at Kentucky shooting learned that suspect was her son * The mother and other family members declined to comment, the report said. * The suspect in a Kentucky school shooting that left two teenagers dead has been identified as Gabe Parker, the son of the Marshall County Daily Online editor ( http://www.marshallcountydaily.com/ ) . * When Parker’s mother, Mary Garrison Minyard, heard gunfire had broken out at the Marshall County High School in Benton on Tuesday, she rushed to the scene only to learn the suspected shooter was her own son" -- As hard as it is to imagine the reality of a student killing other students, it must have been a nightmare to the mother of the shooter.. not only was the killer her son, but she couldn't write anything about it and blame the NRA or others..

From the "headline couldn't explain it any better" department - Online headline/story: "Beyond stupid: Florida court declares it’s ILLEGAL to grow food in your own front yard * The front-garden debacle in Florida’s Village of Miami Shores first began a few years ago, when the municipality decided to crack down on gardening. Tom Carroll and Hermine Rickets, homeowners who’d lived in the area for 17 years, were “advised” to tear down the vegetable garden in their front yard. Town officials had changed the zoning laws, making the practice of growing food in your front yard strictly prohibited. The officials told Carroll and Rickets that they would face fines of up to $50 per day if they failed to dig up their garden" -- You know.. I can see where a Community Homeowners Association might adopt a standard such as "no vegetable gardens" in front yards, but an outright ban by community politicians is a bit much.. in fact.. it's basically totalitarianism.. and has to be unconstitutional by America's standards of freedoms.

From the "all of a sudden, liberals are confessing to all kinds of transgressions" department - Online headline/story: "Dershowitz: I Wouldn't Have Campaigned for Obama If I Knew About Farrakhan Pic * Harvard Law Professor and longtime Democrat Alan Dershowitz said he would not have campaigned for then-Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) if he knew about the future president's photo op with Louis Farrakhan. * Farrakhan, leader of the Nation of Islam, is a "virulent anti-Semite and anti-American," Dershowitz said on "Fox & Friends." -- My guess is Dershowitz had no women accusing him of indiscretions, and he felt left out of all the free national headlines others were getting.
---
L-E headline: "2016 UPATOI SLAYINGS * After 2 years, suspects head to trial in deaths" -- You know, why hasn't the victims' family... and our community as a whole been given what the Constitution says.. a "speedy" trial...For justice to be a deterrent, it must be administered fairly and swiftly.
---
An 'almost get's it' L-E "soundoff": "Two Atlanta Democrats are sponsoring bills allowing local governments to alter, conceal or remove Confederate markers, memorials or monuments. Can you image the outrage if someone did that to MLK historical markers?" -- Since the Congressional Black Caucus voted "NO" to keeping the government open, we can only surmise that the CBC knew it was shutting down the Martin Luther King, Jr National Park that President Trump had recently signed into existence..
---
From a "beyond help" LIV's L-E "soundoff": "They are not "illegal aliens" as one writer wrote in. Your words crush and destroy people. They are undocumented individuals with kind hearts. They are our neighbors and our friends." -- You know.. I'm betting my house that this "soundoffer" has probably said the same thing about some serial killer still alive on Death Row..that he's now "kind hearted" and was someone's neighbor and friend..
---
Ruth Bader Ginsburg.. the anachronistic U.S. Supreme Court Justice, is nearly 85 but says she won't retire. America's best bet is that Trump will be re-elected, and she won't make it to 92..
---
You know.. liberals just refuse to ask themselves why Obama didn't reform the immigration policy during his first two years of his presidency when he had a majority in the House AND 60 votes in the Senate which made his legislation pretty much
"fail proof". The truth is that Obama didn't want immigration reform as "law of the land".. what he wanted was to keep the issue on the front burners to campaign on. because, he'd lose his re-election if voters experienced the reality of a truly open border.

From the "put this in Mayor Tom-LYING-son's pipe and smoke it" department - Online headline/story: "Pedestrian deaths and environmental concerns threaten Florida's high-speed train project * It launched to a fanfare two weeks ago: the first privately funded US express passenger railway in decades, a new start for long delayed plans, and a “green” alternative to Florida’s increasingly congested highways. *Yet for executives of Brightline, an ambitious $3bn venture that will eventually ferry travellers from the theme parks of Orlando to the beaches of Miami in just three hours, the champagne moment soon lost its fizz. * Even before passengers left the station at Fort Lauderdale on opening day, a pedestrian was struck and killed at a road crossing by a Brightline train meant to showcase a high-speed link to journalists and dignitaries. Two further crossing strikes in the next seven days, one of them fatal, reignited a contentious safety debate, even though the victims had all passed barriers. * Referring to Brightline’s recent application for a $1.6bn loan, in case a planned sale of $1.1bn in private equity bonds fell through, Steve Ryan (attorney for Citizens Against Rail Expansion in Florida" said: “If the market believed it, they would have been able to obtain the money in the private sector to do this, and wouldn’t need government subsidies and bonds.” -- First, it's only a 4 hour drive to Miami from Orlando. and you get there with a car to get you around the area at your own leisure...secondly, Steve Ryan is oh-so-correct is assessing that it it was potentially profitable.. viable, the private sector would be "all-in" on developing.

Online headline: "Ingvar Kamprad, who founded furniture giant IKEA, dies at 91" -- Hmmm.. you have to wonder if the Ikea founder's children had to buy the casket in a box and assemble it at home...
---
Online story: " U.S. Senator Joe Manchin, a moderate Democrat, said on Sunday he thought a new White House immigration plan was a good starting point, and he criticized House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi for dismissing it as a way to "make America white again." -- You know.. Pelosi just exposed her racist bias... when you parse her words, she's basically saying blacks and Latinos cannot participate in "Making America Great Again".

Remember the story about Hellary covering sexual harassment charges for Burns Strider, her 2008 campaign aide? Well, a follow up story says, "New sex harassment allegations have surfaced against a campaign aide Hillary Clinton reportedly refused to fire in 2008 following a similar complaint that he harassed a young subordinate with inappropriate kisses and suggestive emails. * The report Saturday on the BuzzFeed News website accuses the aide, Burns Strider, 52, of sexually harassing two young subordinates at a pro-Clinton super PAC during an 18-month span that began in November 2013. * Strider was fired in the summer of 2015 after an investigation at Correct the Record into his conduct, including around issues of sexual harassment, BuzzFeed reported." -- You know.. it's not about Hellary not winning... it's about "Thank God" she DIDN"T win...
---
Online headline: "Justice Ginsburg to skip State of the Union, signals she has no plans to retire" -- Hmmm... more likely than not Ginsburg will be retired before the State of the Union speech.. it's past her bedtime.
---
You know, after seeing Justice Ginsburgs "accessories" she wears while wearing her blak Court robe, I just bet she never looked good wearing a "little black dress" to cocktail parties either.
---
It is said that the five stages - denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance - are a part of the framework that makes up our learning to live with the one we lost. .. Hmmm.. this works for most people.. but not for DIMocrats...DIMocrats will not accept Trump's win, nor Hellary's loss.

Online story: "It might have seemed like a good idea at the time to change the Smith & Wesson name to American Outdoor Brands(NASDAQ: AOBC) as a way of signifying the new direction the company was taking, but the decision to go after the rugged outdoor market might not have been fully informed. * here was logic behind abandoning Smith & Wesson as the corporate name, even if it seemed foolhardy to take down such a well-known brand from the marquee. * Ever since acquiring Battenfeld Technologies in 2014, the firearms manufacturer sought to downplay the role guns had in its business while pointing out the outdoors market was orders of magnitude larger." -- "logic"? What's logical about dropping one of the most recognized brand names in the world? To me it screams, "we are not proud of our product!".. Well, if a company is not proud of it's product, why does the company feel that it's customers will stay loyal to them?
---
Online headline/story: "COLUMBUS COUNCIL * Planner pitches project to remove lanes as way to help revive 13th Street * Hall advocates cutting the number of main travel lanes on 13th Street from four to two — one lane in each direction." -- Good grief.. you know, about 30 years ago, the GA DOT was wanting to make 13th Street a parallel 5-lane artery for Macon/Wynnton Road to offer an alternative route during weather or other disasters, and now Council is seriously considering narrowing that road to 2-lanes? Has anyone on Council ever seen the traffic line-up during rush hours for folks wanting to get back and forth to Phenix City? Obviously not.. Oh.. and who, in their right mind, would park on 13th and have to try to back out in bumper-to-bumper traffic.. Does Council not realize that whether it's "them" or another "special interest group", a planning firm is only going to come back with recommendations that fit in with the results the "special interest group" WANTS to hear?
---
62... that's the number of new parking spaces created at Columbus High School with $935,000.00 of tax dollars. That's over $15,000.00 PER SPACE. Now, the 2015 SPLOST wrestling room project at CHS is in limbo, because the only truly useful location for building the $750,000.00:$312.00 per square ft building is in the previously existing parking lot.
---
Uber-LIV's L-E "soundoff": "Give it up, David (not my Senator) Perdue. You are no match for Sen. Dick Durbin … not even close." -- Hmmm.. could Columbus Mayor Tom-LYING-son submitted this herself? Thank God Sen David Perdue is not like DICK Durbin! Can you imagine the chaos if DICK Durbin were cloned?
---
L-E headline: "Should classes be held on Presidents Day? School Board votes on issue on Monday" -- NO! ... but since this is not the likely outcome, then the MCSD should spend all day Presidents Day highlighting all the positive things going on in America since Trump has become our President.
---
From the "how does mainscream media lie to you; let me count the ways" department - L-E headline/story: "GOP senators: Trump must show restraint in Russia probe * The senators, Lindsey Graham of South Carolina and Susan Collins of Maine, also urged special counsel Robert Mueller to review whether Trump tried to fire him last June, an accusation the president has labeled “fake news.” -- Graham.. Collins? Two Republicans? RINO's at best, but they are representative of Republicans when mainscream media wants to go after Trump.
---
You know.. it's not "ego" that makes President Trump defend his work, his genius or his stability.. he has to do so because mainscream media keeps blasting away at all three of those aspects, and if Trump doesn't defend himself.. mainscream media gains "credibility
by his omission and silence.
