Online headline: "Top Democrat: Trump's 's---hole countries' comment reveals he really wants the US to be a 'white society'" -- Hmmm... says Diane Feinstein...from her $16,500,000.00 "home" (2006 buying price) in an exclusive San Francisco gated and guarded neighborhood... guess she's had a relapse of the "bad cold" that made her release a transcript of an ongoing Senate committee investigation of the CEO of Fusion GPS.
---
You know, when DIMocrats slam Trump about his honest opinion of poor 3rd world countries run by greedy despots, mainscream media's first question to "the slammers" should be. "How about telling us exactly how you differ in your opinion of such countries?"

Picked up from a Facebook posting: DACA explained... If your parents "snuck you" into Disneyland and Disneyland caught you and kicked you out, is it Disneyland's fault or your parents? Or how about if you were standing in the immigration line, and someone walked up and pushed their child into the line ahead of you, and you had to wait another year to get in because of the number of immigrants allowed had "maxed out"....

Seattle, WA has a "sugar recovery tax" on soft drinks etc.. A Costco there advertised that a 35 bottle "case" of Gatorade costs $15.99 but the Seattle "sugar recovery tax" adds another $10.34 to the cost so the cost at there Seattle store actually costs $26.99. Costco also advertises that you can also but the 35 bottle case at it's other non-Seattle stores nearby without paying the "sugar recovery tax". Seattle's Council feels the "sugar recovery tax" will generate over $15,000,000.00 in annual revenues. Government is so stupid.

From the "obvious fake news" department - Online story: "One of President Donald Trump's most trusted lawyers sent $130,000 in hush money to a porn star just weeks before the 2016 presidential election to keep her silent about an alleged 2006 sexual encounter she had with the then-Republican presidential nominee, The Wall Street Journal reported Friday. * The newspaper reported that Michael Cohen, who served as the Trump Organization's top attorney for about a decade, arranged for the payment to Stephanie Clifford, whose stage name is Stormy Daniels, in October 2016 after a negotiation between her lawyer and Cohen on a nondisclosure agreement, sources said." -- Hmmm.. another one of those "faceless and nameless" sources... surely 'Business Insider" isn't suggesting that lawyers revealed private conversations/action when they have confidential privacy issues with their clients. Maybe it's time that the 1st Amendment's guarantee of "free speech" be amended to specify "truthful free speech"?

Online headline: "Woman returns dead Christmas tree to Costco in January, gets full refund" -- Hmmm... you know.. the tree was "dead" when Costco sold it, so... technically, the tree was in the same condition as when she bought it...

From the "this could become very interesting" department - Online headline/story: "Key Atlanta bribery figure secretly recorded conversations * Federal prosecutors delivered a bombshell in the City Hall bribery investigation Wednesday, when they filed a court document revealing the city’s former top purchasing officer has made secret recordings for the government’s case. * Adam Smith had been the city’s chief procurement officer since 2003, until Mayor Kasim Reed fired him Feb. 21 — just before FBI agents confiscated his city-issued computer and cell phone from his City Hall office. * Federal agents had been investigating city bribery for at least six months by that time." -- Now this is what/who the FBI SHOULD be investigating... elected/sitting/appointed government workers.

From the "OObamaCRAP revisited" department - Online headline/story: " Should Georgia drivers use hands-free cellphone technology? New bill would require it * A renewed push to require drivers in Georgia to use hands-free cellphone technology has emerged after a House committee studied distracting driving. * Two of the study committee members are from Houston County: state Rep. Shaw Blackmon, R-Bonaire, and state Rep. Heath Clark, R-Warner Robins. * House Bill 673 prohibits the use of a cellphone, tablet or other wireless devices without having a hands-free accessory. * Fines imposed for the misdemeanor would be set by local judges and range from $150 to $300 for the first offense, $250 to $500 for the second offense and $500 to $700 for the third offense.
* Fines must be paid within 90 days, or a violator's driving license may be suspended. Reinstatement would require payment of the fees and an additional $50 penalty." --
"fine"? Hmmm... didn't the US Supreme Court hold that only if the OObamaCRAP "mandatory fine" was called a "tax" that it could be legal? And talk about elitist discrimination possibilities.. wouldn't people who could afford self-driving cars.. or can employ a "driver" for their limo technically have an "exception" to being fined?

From the "why does a car manufacturer think I will buy another car from them when it does this" department - I just got an e-mail from the maker of my wife's car we bought 2 years ago.. it's an "offer" to update her "GPS Map" system for a mere $149.00 price.. You know, in today's environment, our phone GPS apps are updated continually, and without additional costs.. Something tells me this is an absolute "scam" and aimed at women who Acura figures won't question a service call on their vehicles. We already know that Acura is tracking her "whereabouts" and how many miles she's driven, because we get messages about when she "needs" to make a service appointment, so why are we asked to believe that Acura will not give us accurate GPS information when we use the GPS system we've already paid for?

From the "Lightning DOES strike twice" department - L-E headline/story: "2 schools get new principals as Jordan High leader resigns * In April 2016, the Muscogee County School Board approved Lewis’ recommendation to make Wohler, who was interim principal at Jordan, the official replacement for Alton White, who was hired as principal of LaGrange High School in Troup County in January 2016. * Wohler will move out of the region to be closer to her family for “personal reasons,” MCSD superintendent David Lewis said in the news release." -- Having had interactions with Ms Wohler to compliment her on successful programs under her management, and knowing Alton White as a superior educator, it's strange.. no, more suspect than strange, that two superior educators would leave the same high school to work in different school systems.
---
Wow.. did you see the pics in the L-E of a local hospital's "Decontamination Training Exercise"? Hospital personnel were hosed off to wash away "decontaminates". You know, I do believe we have uncovered the origins of the first "wet t-shirt contest".
---
You know.. I still haven't heard from any Council member or a representative of "Together 2017" about who is responsible for ongoing maintenance/upkeep the "gift" of an exercise site on the Columbus RiverWalk.. I hope new Council candidates will bring this to light in their campaigns.

From the "America.. stand up and support and thank President Trump" department - L-E headline/story: "Kentucky gets OK to require work for Medicaid benefits * The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services announced the approval on Friday. The change will require adults between the ages of 19 and 64 to complete 80 hours per month of “community engagement” to keep their coverage. That includes getting a job, going to school, taking a job training course and community service."-- Wow.. how come Obama and his DIMocrat minions can't... well, WON'T.. see and approve the positive effects of giving people the OPPORTUNITY of show they have worth and can be responsible for themselves?

From the "Tinkerbell CSI" department - L-E headline/story: "Russell sheriff says road rage led to deadly shooting *
Road rage in Columbus led to Thursday night’s deadly shooting at a Dollar General in Fort Mitchell, Ala., authorities said.
* Lorenzo Freeman, 45, of Fort Mitchell was killed in the incident, officials said. Two others who were injured in the shooting are still being treated at Columbus Midtown Medical Center. * (Sheriff) Taylor said he believes that both groups thought that the other group was chasing them after the initial dispute. In actuality, they were all just headed to their homes in Fort Mitchell. * “Both cars called ahead and had family members meet them at the gas station,” Taylor said. “That’s part of what this whole issue was. They called ahead and got other people involved.”" -- both parties called ahead and had family members meet them"? Gimmee a break.. how would the passengers in both cars call their families to meet that at the same spot? I find it hard to believe that the car passengers "communicated" their intended destination to the other car passengers.

L-E headline/story: "Teen accused of stomping woman’s head, hitting her * A Columbus teen allegedly stomped on a woman's head and threatened her with a knife Wednesday afternoon at a Beallwood Avenue home, authorities said. * B****** B****, 19, was charged with aggravated assault. She was booked into the Muscogee County Jail. * The victim told police that B**** attacked her at her home in the 3900 block of Beallwood Avenue after noticing a hickey on her neck. * She said B**** threw her to the floor and stomped on her head. She allegedly grabbed a knife and cut her hair before threatening to stab her.
* B**** was also accused of striking the woman on the head with a baseball bat and grabbing her by the throat, choking her until she lost consciousness." -- You know, a 19 year old, except for the suffix "teen: is hardly a teenager.. At 19, there are few restrictions one has about being a 100% adult. Calling a vicious criminal a "teen" is a disservice to the community because it indicates that the criminal might should get some sympathy for his/her age.

Hey don't forget that Monday is a holiday and trash services will be performed on the usual holiday schedule.. but I do wonder if our City government will still feel/insist it is honoring Dr King by not picking up trash on Monday as it advertised this week?

L-E guest commentary/content: "Norway vs. United States: How the 2 countries stack up * BY JOSH MAGNESS * McClatchy Washington Bureau * Why would people from Norway immigrate to the United States? * That’s what some people on Twitter were asking after The Washington Post reported Thursday that President Donald Trump asked why the United States would want to bring more immigrants from “shithole” countries like Haiti instead of places like Norway. * First, it’s important to note that more people are leaving this country for Norway than the other way around. Bloomberg reported that, according to Statistics Norway, 895 people moved from the U.S. to Norway in 2016, compared to just 502 who did the opposite. And according to data from the Department of Homeland Security, an average of just 100 Norwegians a year moved to the U.S. from 2007 to 2016, CNN wrote. * The country has a universal health care system that covers all people regardless of income, place of residence or origin, according to CNN. " -- Good grief.. how convenient it is to compare Norway to the US and NOT bring up the rate of taxes, cost of cars and gasoline. Cars are generally smaller and cost twice the price of similar American cars (fees. taxes), and far fewer Norwegians actually own cars, and gasoline runs close to $9.00 a gallon.
