HuffPost story: "The news of Will and Kate’s latest inspiring act comes on the day the prince announced his retirement from the military, a transition that will allow him to spend more time with his growing family and to focus on his charitable work. : -- Excuse me.....? "spend more time....to focus on his charitable work"? Prince William is one of the most famous welfare 'dads' in the world, and now that he has a "growing family", I guess he'll get enough additional income that he can quit his day job, and spend time redistributing his public wealth.

Random thought: Name me one important date... no, any date in American history that is not recorded based on Christ's birth. We are a Christian nation!

HuffPost headline: "Michael Jackson's deepest desire revealed in diary " -- PLEASE! Please bury this also.. I do not want to know!

Online headline/story: "Russia Rewords Olympic Truce Amid Criticism Of Anti-Gay Law * This year, controversy arose because Russia's draft promised to include “people of different age, sex, physical capacity, religion, race and social status,” but not different sexual orientations." -- Good grief... gimmee a break... I don't care what "sexual orientation" you are, you are covered under the phrase "people of different age, sex, physical capacity, religion, race and social status".

McClatchy story: "The 2008 killing of a prison guard in Atwater, Calif., has prompted the latest challenge to the federal death penalty as cruel and unusual punishment. * The defense attorneys acknowledge in their Sept. 9 legal filing that “Sablan suddenly stabbed Officer Rivera with the approximately 9-inch long, ice pick-shaped shank while Officer Rivera was locking Mr. Leon Guerrero in his cell.” Though Sablan stabbed Rivera “approximately 27 times,” the defense attorneys wrote, they say that Sablan “did not intend to kill him and has repeatedly expressed his remorse and regret for having done so.” -- I guess the remorse and regret set in as he was thinking about stabbing him for the 28th time. Hey, it is California, and stranger... much stranger rulings have happened..

---

McClatchy story: "Squads of riot police backed by water cannon Friday swept into the historic heart of Mexico’s capital, scurrying between bonfires to flush out striking teachers, some of whom swung pipes and threw rocks at security forces." -- Hmm, you know, if you redacted "Mexico" out of this, you can probably think this was about Chicago, home of the Secretary of Education.

So we're getting new names for some local hospitals. I can see the "Midtown" designation, but there'll be one major regret.. Naming the Hughston Hospital "Northside" means there'll be a demand to build one in "Southside"

Wonder if all the Columbus Regional name changes, do you think it might have to do with the current medical fraud investigation?

---

In the L-E is a 'timeline" of events in the Columbus Regional history. One important date is left out... when the City Council gave it away to a private business.

WTVM9 headline/story: "White House: No subsidies for union health plans * Low-income workers on union health plans are not eligible for the same federal subsidies available to those who buy insurance in the new state health care marketplaces, the White House said Friday. * Labor leaders have complained for months that without the subsidies, the Affordable Care Act would drive up the cost of some union plans, leading employers to drop coverage and jeopardizing health coverage for millions of union members." -- Heh heh heh.. Looks like some of the GM workers are getting thrown under the buses they are working on.

---

You know, the union's wanting exclusions to ObamaCare dictates for compliance were forseen by George Orwell's communist/socialist expose, "Animal Farm". Everybody is equal.... but some are MORE EQUAL than others.

---

WTVM9 story: "COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Following the death of a Carver High School student playing basketball in the school's gym over the weekend, the family of Antwon Whitehead wants to pass a law to keep the same thing from happening to another child." -- You know, if a 'test' could actually predict this, and a student was blocked from participating, the parents of a child would sue because their child was being discriminated against or his civil rights were being denied.

---

Online headline/story: "Last free football tickets for Ga. lawmakers * One college football tradition in Georgia will soon disappear: Letting politicians into the stadium for free. * Many lawmakers get tickets in Georgia because the Legislature controls the $6.4 billion higher education budget, including the roughly $1.9 billion that comes directly from state coffers." -- It's a start... a good start... now if we canjust keep the ball rolling to stop free Columbus Civic Center event tickets being given to Councilors and City employees. For that matter, even keeping Councilors/City employees from having access to purchase prime seating tickets the rest of us are denied access to.

Online headline: "McCain, Graham call US-Russia agreement on Syria 'meaningless'" -- Talk about a pot calling a kettle black......

California... oh, brother, California is at it again - Online story: "Liberty Counsel filed a petition with the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, asking the federal appeals court to rehear a case involving California's ban on gay conversion therapy." -- Did we read recently that it was unconstitutional (by California standards) for therapists to conduct "gay reversal" therapy? On the same story line, shouldn't it be just as unconstitutional to allow "gay conversion" therapy?.... California or not?

Saturday, about 11:20 AM, I was driving on 17th Avenue, when 2 school buses ran the STOP sign at an intersection and cut in front of me. I had to brake hard to not hit the second on. (There were actually 3 buses in caravan but I did not see the lead bus's action). I honked loudly at the last bus as it darted in front of me. Of course, going in the same direction, I followed them all the way to Manchester Expressway. In between the start of this situation and Manchester Expressway there is a Caution Light section that has a 20 MPH limit. All of the buses went through it at above 30 MPH. The last bus, the one I was following was # 11-765. The one in front was either 06-761 or 08-761. (I didn't get to see that until the buses turned "right" at Manchester Expressway, and it was at an angle; I had no view of the lead bus, but since the three were caravanning students, I imagine there's a record of the buses assigned. And yes. there were a few students for sure on the third bus. Buses are a parasitic drain on taxpayers as it is, but especially on a Saturday, and being driven in a hazardous manner is not acceptable.

The latest from www.barackobama/organizingforaction.com:

There's an income calculator to figure the "tax credits" for signing up for ObamaCare.

If a couple, ages 64 & 52 with a child at home under 21, and say a retirement income of $40K signed up for Obamacare, this is what you could expect:

The information below is about subsidized exchange coverage. Note that subsidies are only available for people purchasing coverage on their own in the exchange (not through an employer). Depending on your state's eligibility criteria, you or some members of your family may qualify for Medicaid.

Household income in 2014: 40K - 258% of poverty level
Unsubsidized annual health insurance premium in 2014: - $16,862
Maximum % of income you have to pay for the non-tobacco premium, if eligible for a subsidy: 8.28%
Amount you pay for the premium: $3,312 per year
(which equals 8.28% of your household income and covers 20% of the overall premium)
You could receive a government tax credit subsidy of up to $13,550
(which covers 80% of the overall premium)

With a situation of a married couple age 30 & 28, neither smokes if both parents smoke), and they have income of $40K and 3 small children:

Household income in 2014: $40K - 145% of poverty level

Unsubsidized annual health insurance premium in 2014: - $12,456

Maximum % of income you have to pay for the non-tobacco premium, if eligible for a subsidy: 3.71%

Amount you pay for the premium: $1,485 per year (which equals 3.71% of your household income and covers 12% of the overall premium)(throw in another $3,353 premium surcharge if both smoke)

You could receive a government tax credit subsidy of up to: $10,97 (which covers 88% of the overall premium)

And government thinks there's too much fraud and waste in MediCare/MediCaid, and that health costs are going to go down. Scary!

L-E headline: "MEMO TO THE GOVERNOR * (Retiring) Judge John Allen asks Gov. Deal to consider race and gender when appointing two new Chatthoochee judges" -- I think the highest of Judge Allen.. as a person and a judge, but this is just "too much". Every 'candidate' will have his or her race/gender considered. The goal is to select the best possible persons to sit behind the bench REGARDLESS of race/gender.

---

L-E story: "AUBURN, Ala. — Prosecutors have increased the amount of restitution they are seeking from Harvey Updyke for poisoning Auburn University’s landmark oak trees to $1.35 million. " -- Now I can understand why tuition has esculated... the costs of two acorns in the hand of a University is now $1.35 MILLION.. I'm rich, I've got an acorn bearing oak in my back yard!

We wonder why our kids aren't getting a better education for the amount of money it now takes to run the public school system. A teacher made a statement to me that explains it all pretty clearly: teachers are now teaching on what they expect on the CRCTs. Well, the CRCT's are geared to detect the minimum progress of students, so if the goal is to educate our children to meet the minimum needs, they are not being challenged to grow.

Karl Douglas has a column relating, if true, a horrible example of racism. If Karl Douglass, paid staffer for Congressman Bishop's re-election, is going to incriminate people for racism, he should document the group, and the offended person by name. Politicos are to inclined to make up situations that don't actually exist simply because they "could possibly" exist.

L-E headline: "Assad given until Friday to reveal details of chemical weapons " -- Hmmm, and "Wimpy" would always tell you he would gladly pay you back on Tuesday if you'd buy him a hamburger today.

I think the Alabama defense caught Johnny Football enough times that they all got to "autograph" his body.
