Online story: " California Gov. Jerry Brown (D) signed a bill on Saturday limiting the state's cooperation with federal immigration authorities, a rebuke of a major Obama administration enforcement policy that has led to record deportations from the state.
As the Congress stalls on immigration reform, action continues in the states, and advocates and politicians in California hope they can serve as an example of how to do it right. --North Carolina et al gets sued by the Judas 00-bama regime for protecting citizens rights and votes in line with the Constitution, and California just flaunted itself in front of federal law and it recently voted to give illegal aliens drivers' licenses, and 00-bama will do nothing.

Online headline: "Mexicans Seek Asylum In The US As Drug Related Violence Continues" -- You know.. this should be a wake-up call for all the illegal drug legalization advocates.... Do these 'advocates' want the rest of America to become the next Detroit or Chicago?
---
Online headline: "President Pleads Don't Give Up On Obamacare" -- To whom... the unions, the government Congressional members and staffers.... the White House staff? Sorry, those groups already have.
---
Online headline: "Severe Great Plains Storm Brings Snow, Tornadoes"-- Hmmm snow and tornadoes...sounds like teo sure signs of global warming.
---Hmmm, a real life "dog bites man..sorta" story. Online story: "Madrid, Spain - Emergency services say a man has died after being crushed by grapes during the annual harvest in the central Spanish wine producing region of Castilla-La Mancha. * A local rescue service center said Friday the man was pulled out of a winery grape reception bay that he fell into the day before, just as a truck unloaded 5.5 tons (5 metric tons) of grapes ready for crushing into juice for winemaking" -- Grapes stomp man?
---Soccer, basketball, football, cheerleading, hockey, gymnastics, baseball & softball, and bicycling. What do these have in common? Nope, they're notschool programs to combat obesity... they are the top 8 ways your child to get injured. Look for schools to find ways to ban participation.

I have a question that needs to be answered: How much federal tax dollars were spent on creating, posting, and monitoring the signs government installed at our National Parks? Shouldn't those employees have been furloughed as well?
--- Uniforms of the week....ugly department...Tennessee.
---
Online story: "President Obama says he'd think about changing the name of the Washington Redskins if he were team owner and knew the name offended people." -- Hey... don't "we" own the presidency? How about a name change to someone who doesn't offend "US"?
---
McClatchy story: "House approves back pay for furloughed federal workers" -- Wait a minute.. that makes it a paid vacation. Now, if said employees showed up for work out of dedication to their country, that would be another thing, but this amounts to nothing more than than an extended weekend vacation with pay!

The latest from www.barackobama/organizingforaction.com : Hmmm seems if you're not for ObamaCare you're agin it.. Astute.

I have another question... why did Judas 00-bama rename his campaign website "Organizing For Action"? Wouldn't "Organizing For America" seem less hostile, less sneaky?

Online story: "According to the ACLJ, the barricades erected to prevent access to the National WWII Memorial during the government shutdown have been reinforced with wire ties, following the most recent visit by Honor Flight WWII veterans this week.
Jordan Sekulow, along with a team from the ACLJ went to the site on Friday morning to see if park officials and police would once again allow veterans to visit the memorial constructed to honor their service and their fellow service members who paid the ultimate price during WWII. * “What we found was disturbing,” Says Sekulow in his report. “After the veterans left, park rangers and federal workers re-erected the barricades, not only preventing the public but all war veterans from seeing the memorial. Even worse they began bringing in metal ties to secure the barricades and even sandbags to make it harder for any other WWII veterans to get past the metal fences to view the memorial." -- In simple form, Judas 00-bama is taking away the rights of 90 year old seniors to visit the country they protected, and has appointed ObamaCare death panels to make sure they are not resuscitated if they continue doing so.

I'm real curious as to why Memorial Stadium's name was changed to A.J McClung Memorial Stadium instead of A.J. McClung - Memorial Stadium? No slur to A.J McClung.. a finer man and citizen as this community has ever had, but it almost separates the honor to veterans that was meant in its original naming, and because of the man A.J. McClung was, I do believe he would side with me on this.

Hmmm. Saturday November 2, 2013 will be the Steeplechase at Callaway. It used to be the Columbus Steeplechase at Callaway Gardens. How'd that happen?

L-E editorial: "Commentary: Froma Harrop * Budget blackmail needs to end" -- "Budget blackmail"? What the hell is she babbling about! Congress is no different than the American citizens who sit down and talk with their spouses about priorities of where their finite source of income needs to be spent. Once that's done, talk can be had about what else extra money can be spent on. Liberals just think other people's money is their own, and wishing for more creates a never ending flow.

L-E's "Looking back *Fifty years ago today, October 6, 1963 Biggest Fair Set To Open Tomorrow * Much to the delight of carnival lovers and fairgoers, the 46th annual Chattahoochee Valley Exposition will open here tomorrow afternoon. * Top-notch agricultural, industrial and educational exhibits will be displayed, and the entertainment promises to be more spectacular than ever." -- This is the way it was... until the mid 1990's when Council reneged on its promise to a more than cooperative Columbus Fairgrounds organization. Council did for the Fair what it did to the J.R. Allen Parkway when it fought the GA DOT plans.
--
Another local doctor is closing up his medical practice.. Thanks, ObamaCare.
---
From the City Manager's Agenda for Council: " SPRING FLING CARNIVAL EXTENDED CONTRACT: Authorization is requested to enter into a five-year agreement with Drew Expositions, Event Coordinators Inc., of Augusta, Ga., for Coordinating Services for the annual Spring Fling Carnival." -- Is this a no-bid contract? Seems like there are folks within Columbus that could/should be doing this.

Is there anything more gratifying for a parent than to see your child exceed his/her expectations by hard work? Not your expectations, but your child's personal expectations. Yesterday was one of those days that my bride and I got to experience with our youngest. She's playing for a first ever volleyball team at her school, and as you'd expect, the team has had a lot more 'downs' than 'ups'. Saturday, her team participated in its first volleyball tournament. A round-robin morning set up a bracketed finals for the PM. As "expected", her team was placed in the bottom category, and no one was surprised. What wasn't expected is what happened next. As her team watched a team that had beat them twice during the season was beaten by another team, the teams hopes seemed even bleaker at winning. Game 1 of the best of three went to the other team, but her team realized it hadn't been demolished. Hope rose.. our first server in the 2nd game had a hot streak of 7 straight points. That had never happened before, and they came alive, and went on to tie the series setting up a tie breaker of 15 points. The other team was awakened by its unexpected loss, and came back fiercely. It got the first few points.. suddenly our team realized it wasn't the helpless team, the doormat, it started the season as. The girls arose to their talents, started holding their own, and the score crept up to a 13-10 level. A strong, hard earned point got our team the ball back with only a 13-11 deficit. Then effort and magic happened as they rattled off 4 more straight points and took a 15-13 win. Every child should have at least one moment of the feeling of genuine self-esteem that comes from the results of grit and determination. Every parent should be able to see their child discover this. God is good.
