This will be short and sweet.. early 'family day' scheduled.
---
Online headline/story: "Navy Yard church services canceled due to shutdown * Navy Yard does have an active-duty priest, but the priest at Anacostia-Bolling was furloughed. The priest moved Sunday services to Anacostia-Bolling because it has the larger chapel" -- Hmmm, do believe Judas 00-bama just foisted himself by his own petard. He determined the only Catholic priest was a non-essential worker.
---
From the "you gotta be kidding me" department: "A police officer who dropped off his daughter at her Phoenix elementary school was asked by the school’s principal not to wear his uniform to the school because other parents were concerned that he was carrying a gun." -- What next... criminals will start demanding the same when the police catch them in the act of a crime?
---
Instant repeat: "From the "you gotta be kidding me" department: "A police officer who dropped off his daughter at her Phoenix elementary school was asked by the school’s principal not to wear his uniform to the school because other parents were concerned that he was carrying a gun." -- Can't wait till the principal dials 9-1-1 because of a shooter (actually, I CAN wait, and hope 9-1-1 is never needed there), and SWAT responds WITHOUT guns.
---
Judas 00-bama closed the WWII Memorial and cemetery at Normandy Beach in France. On the other hand, the German soldiers cemetery there is open.
---
After untold millions ($6+ was the last figure I heard but things have had to be done since to get it to pass inspections), have been spent on reopening the 14th Street bridge, I think the City is struggling to defend its costs. If no one actually uses it, it will be a monument, but in reality, a 'Folly'. It's a 'bridge to nowhere', and if used as an event facility, the temp concession wagons/tents will be an eyesore to rafters and kayakers coming down river.
---
Worth repeating ...often... If Charlie Rangel were a Christian, and had ever read the Bible he oft references, there would be no need for an Ethics Committee in the House of Representatives.
---
I am Miriam Carey! Where is Sharpton... where is Jackson?.. Where is the mainstream media?
---
Online headline: "Giant Squid found on Spanish Beach" -- Ooops, my bad.. thought the paparazzi had discover Charlie Rangel.
---
Online headline: "American Catholics Agree Church Too Obsessed With Contraception, Gays" -- "American Catholics"? Two is plural.. it's a HuffPost headline.
---
Online story: "Many football fans tuning in for Sunday's game between the Cincinnati Bengals and the New England Patriots will see a new ad blaming House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) for the government shutdown. * The spot by House Majority PAC, a Democratic super PAC, features a close-up of a baby crying" -- Hmmm the "House Majority PAC" is paying for this... typical Obamarat tactic.. even the title of the PAC is a lie... the Republican Party id the House Majority.
---Online story that you may have missed: "The stunning victory for the National Rifle Association and gun rights activists in the first recall election in Colorado history was complete Thursday when state Senate President John Morse (D-Colorado Springs) and Sen. Angela Giron (D-Pueblo) officially left their offices after the two were ousted over their support of strict new gun laws in the state. * New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, a staunch supporter of stricter gun laws, donated $350,000 to Morse and Giron. Billionaire philanthropist Eli Broad gave a separate $250,000 check to help the legislators, while Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) repeatedly issued fundraising calls for Giron in emails to her supporters. The Denver Post reported that those in Morse and Giron's corner had collected nearly $3 million, while proponents of the recall raised about $540,000. --The real story is that leftist threw their heavyweight out of-state moneybags at the 2nd Amendment, and struck out.
---L-E's "Thought for Today": “America has believed that in differentiation, not in uniformity, lies the path of progress. It acted on this belief; it has advanced human happiness, and it has prospered.” — Louis D. Brandeis (1856-1941). -- Hmmm, one must pretty much figure that Supreme Court Justice Brandeis was not a proponent of "political correctness"... and he was and is right.

There should be no discussion over back pay for furloughed federal employees. We are having to listen to their gripes and instant application to unemployment checks while they are "on vacation". If they get '\back pay, then its another of already too many "paid vacation days".---
---
WTVM9 story: "After the government shutdown continues for a third day, the price tag is starting to add up.
Here's a look at the high price of the partial shutdown in Washington:
~800,000 federal workers are furloughed.
~It costs the United States $12.5 million for every hour the shutdown drags on, according to IHS Inc.
~The cost for a full day is $300 million.
~If the government shutdown lasts for a week, the nation's gross domestic product will drop an estimated $1.6 billion." -- The government thinks too much of itself. Sure, salaries paid from tax dollars do circulate in the economy, BUT under no circumstance should taxes paid in government salary be considered part of the GDP!
---
I'm almost sad that George Will is joining Fox. He at least brought some civility to the ABC editorial shows, and now he'll be replaced by the likes of Colmes, Jackson, and Sharpton.
---
Being a granddad has unexpected benefits... like learning that GPB has lots of corporate advertising. From liberal pleas, you'd think that GPB couldn't be on the air without government money and the Council for the Arts. Hey, why isn't GPB "shutdown" this week?
---
When you get down to dotting the "I"s and crossing the "t"s, the media is wrong blaming Obamarats or Republicans for the "shutdown" or other government ills. If all aspects of media did their jobs, served their deemed purpose, the public would know all the crap government does to waste money, invade our privacy, and, oh yes, waste money.
