CNN headline: "Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-TX) says administration is one step
behind on immigration crisis and should have seen it coming." -- Hmmm.. which
means CNN and mainstream media in general, are two steps behind.

HuffPost story: " NBC Chief White House Correspondent Chuck Todd had words
of caution on Sunday for Republicans cheering the Supreme Court's controversial
decision on birth control in the Hobby Lobby case. * Speaking on Sunday's "Meet
the Press," however, Todd warned that the decision could potentially backfire
for Republicans. * The ruling gives Democrats an issue to campaign on, he said.
* "We have something to run on here on the left,'" Todd said." -- "We have
something to run on here on the left,'" Todd said"? Good grief.. Todd
unabashedly proclaims his bias. The Federal Election Commission should force NBC
to give a conservative reporter equal time following any Todd report.
---
From above story: " * Todd suggested the backlash is already apparent among
white women ages 40 to 55, who will be crucial swing voters in this year's
midterm elections" -- Excuse me, but what flavor of Kool-Aid does Todd
prefer?

Online headline/story: "Chicago Shootings Over July 4th Weekend Leave At
Least 9 Dead, Dozens Wounded * 60-plus shot in Chicago over a violent holiday
weekend * Since Jan. 1, more than 1,100 people have been shot in Chicago." --
Hmmm, and we were just wondering why the Mosqued Man has chosen North Carolina
for his post-term home... guess the Secret Service union has a clause in there
contracts banning more than 3 day assignments in Chicago.
---
Online quote source: "“You attract people by the qualities you display. You
keep them by the qualities you possess.” - Unknown " -- Hmmm ... sorta explains
in a nutshell why the Mosqued Man appoints who he has and who he throws under
the bus.
---
Hmmm....those cars, you know, the ones that will come to a stop by
themselves if they detect a pending collision are probably more dangerous than a
car without such electronic sensors. If you were driving and a car swerved into
you lane and came at you full speed, and your car came yo a complete stop, the
car hitting you would still be a full speed and you would be taking the full
brunt of a car in full motion while you were a sitting duck. Sorta like a
quarterback standing still as a linebacker leveling him in a blitz.

Online story: "More than 30 soldiers in the Mexican Army crossed the border
into Texas in Humvees on Tuesday before being processed and allowed to return to
Mexico. * According to Customs and Border Patrol spokesman Rick Pauza, the
accidental invasion occurred when 33 soldiers in four Humvees started crossing a
bridge across the Rio Grande at Donna, Texas, and then realized they couldn't
turn their vehicles around without entering the U.S." -- Whoa... if BergD(_*_)hl
was worth 5 jihadists, then Sgt Tahmooressi is certainly worth 33 invading
Mexicans!

Online story: "Valedictorian and salutatorian could soon be history in
Pasco County, Fla. * Superintendent Kurt Browning says the titles aren’t fair,
so he announced a plan to eliminate them district-wide. * "I can make some
pretty valid strong arguments why we need to phase out vals and sals," Browning
said. "The difference between valedictorian and salutatorian is hundredths of a
point." -- You know,, this guy Browning was probably one of the originators of
the movement to stop keeping score in youth sports..What Pasco County, Florida
needs to do is START keeping score of the progress reports on student testing on
Brownings' "watch"!

L-E headline: "GRIPING ABOUT THE RIVERWALK * Several Concerned Readers take
issue with the upkeep of the Chattahoochee RiverWalk, as well as the progress of
the linear park’s connectors:
Gripe 1 - " “This Monday morning we had horse manure on the Riverwalk,
which is not pleasant to hit at six in the morning when it’s still dark,” writes
Lorrie. “It seems like there should be a law that requires horses to wear a
diaper or makes it the responsibility of the owner to clean it up.” -- Hmmm.. my
question is why horses are on the RiverWalk to begin with.
Gripe 2 - "Lorrie also has a problem with people not keeping their dogs on
a leash, which creates a real hazard to cyclists. * “I’ve been bitten, gone over
the handlebars, and I have friends who have had broken bones and concussions due
to loose dogs,” Lorrie wrote. “Unfortunately the bike cops can’t ticket owners
of loose dogs. They tell us to call Animal Control, which could take over an
hour to show up." -- Hmm, seems "Lorrie" can't win.. maybe she should take her
own dogs to chase off the horses.
Gripe 3 - "Gabe says it’s beyond time that the entire RiverWalk be linked
into one unbroken stretch. He said riders were promised a connection between the
stretch, which ends at the base of North Highland Dam and the spot where it
picks back up in Bibb City, but have yet to see any work being done there * As
you can see from the picture (in L-E), that involves taking walkers and riders
up over the dam to an elevation about 50 feet higher. I’m told it will likely
involve a series of switchback bridges, so the grade won’t be ridiculously
steep." -- Or Gabe can wait for Mayor Obamalinson to grant her a $244K elevator
at that point.
Gripe 4 - Gabe also gripes that the north end of the RiverWalk, from
downtown to Lake Oliver, gets much less use because of the disconnections and
because of the presence of homeless people, who take up residence in rest areas,
picnic shelters and bathrooms along the way. That can be intimidating to lone
riders, especially women, he said. * “My point here is that the RiverWalk is for
all citizens, not just vagrants,” Gabe says. “If my wife wants to walk alone on
that end and needs to use the bathroom, then she ought to be able to use the
expensive bathrooms the city built.” -- Well, Gabe is in luck.. Mayor
Obamalinson has promised to rid Columbus of homeless. In fact she appointed and
funded a Committee to do that in 10 years. I think 3 have passed so far, so by
the time she get her "high-speed rail system" to Newnan" finished in 2020, the
RiverWalk should be "homeless free". Hmm maybe she's planning to give one-way
"high-speed" rail tickets to the homeless that are still around the RiverWalk at
that time.
Gripe 5 - Gabe..again.. says, : “If the city would just recognize that,
bikers could really get to see rafting action and the gorgeous part of the river
that is marquee to Columbus,” -- Hmm.. this is going to be tougher to solve...
what is Mayor Obamalinson going to do about the medieval torture devices GA
Power has placed all along the Northern RiverWalk?

LIV's L-E "soundoff": " Help me understand how having more guns in more
people’s hands reduces shootings and killings." -- Hmmm.. What about
"self-defense" and "stand your ground" don't libs understand? First, cowards
with illegal guns aren't going to confront people wearing legal guns. Secondly,
when people with legal guns take out perpetrators with illegally possessed guns,
recidivism is eliminated for illegal gun users.
---
LIV's L-E "soundoff": "The ignorant right wants the U. S. to end up like
India and China, with more people than we can feed and house. Georgia’s equally
stupid gun laws will cut that total a bit, though." -- Good grief.. not only cut
this guy off Kool-Aid, drain and replace his current blood supply!
---
L-E story: " The Columbus Convention and Visitors Bureau has awarded a
$17,166 grant to support Columbus State University’s summer 2014 theatrical
efforts, produced as the Columbus Repertory Theatre." -- Whoa! Wait a minute..
why is a parasitic entity that gets its funding from tax dollars being allowed
to redirect our tax dollars to another tax exempt organization? Now, the
Columbus Convention and Visitors Bureau will go back to Council saying it needs
more tax dollars!
---
L-E opinion piece by former L-E Editor Millard Grimes: "The biggest
economic story of the year keeps flying under the radar of the Mainstream Media.
In fact, it's hardly penetrated the non-Mainstream Media. * What is it? The
federal deficit has declined more in the first eight months of this fiscal year
than in any year since 2008. According to the Treasury Department the deficit is
30 percent lower than last year at this time." --
Millard Grimes is in LA-LA Land.. any reductions in how much over budget
the Obama administration has been is purely related to cutbacks in military
readiness and soldier healthcare, plus ending of the ObamaLoan department and
cutting our losses on the GM bailout. That's hardly anything to give a positive
spin on Obama's presidency. The deficit is what it is.. a burden on the future
of America.

L-E headline/story: "New principals, assistant principals on MCSD school
board agenda * Veteran North Carolina educator Shermaine Derrick is the choice
of Superintendent David Lewis for the job of principal at Eddy Middle School. *
An educator for 21 years, Derrick currently serves as assistant principal at
Mooresville Intermediate School in Mooresville, N.C." -- Good grief.. local and
GA employees are being laid off and Lewis is bringing in an ASSISTANT-principal
from another state to fill a PRINCIPAL's position? Will someone please round up
all of Lewis' e-mails and look for some inappropriate correspondence that might
explain to us why he's bringing in a female to Columbus?
---
From same story: "Lewis has made the following recommendations for seven
assistant principal positions: * Carver High School: Math teacher Lisa Norris,
who has taught at Carver since 1992 and at Eddy Middle School before that." --
Wait a minute.. Lewis took a former assistant principal from Carver and sent him
to Double Churches Middle School as Principal.. but what I want to know is why
any Carver "executives" are still in the MCSD system. Carver had the worst.. and
by a great distance from second-worst.. test scores in the City , and the total
of the City high schools, especially if you remove Columbus High School from the
mix, in the state. Millions of tax dollars have been spent building the new
Carver High School and equipping it with state-of-the-art technology, and our
city has gotten zilch in return. If the former asst-principal and the current
appointed on couldn't do something with all the advantages poured into Carver,
why do we want those people promoted to new positions?

Your BC assignment for today is to copy & paste the following poem and
send it to every member of your local school board.. Request it be hung in the
lobby of the local school administrative building and every school principals'
office, and every teachers' lounge:
Pretty Good
by Charles Osgood (1933-)
from the Osgood File, 1986
There once was a pretty good student
Who sat in a pretty good class
And was taught by a pretty good teacher
Who always let pretty good pass.
He wasn’t terrific at reading,
He wasn’t a whiz-bang at math,
But for him, education was leading
Straight down a pretty good path.
He didn’t find school too exciting,
But he wanted to do pretty well,
And he did have some trouble with writing
Since nobody taught him to spell.
When doing arithmetic problems,
Pretty good was regarded as fine.
5+5 needn’t always add up to be 10;
A pretty good answer was 9.
The pretty good class that he sat in
Was part of a pretty good school,
And the student was not an exception:
On the contrary, he was the rule.
The pretty good school that he went to
Was there in a pretty good town,
And nobody there seemed to notice
He could not tell a verb from a noun.
The pretty good student in fact was
Part of a pretty good mob.
And the first time he knew what he lacked was
When he looked for a pretty good job.
It was then, when he sought a position,
He discovered that life could be tough,
And he soon had a sneaking suspicion
Pretty good might not be good enough.
The pretty good town in our story
Was part of a pretty good state
Which had pretty good aspirations
And prayed for a pretty good fate.
There once was a pretty good nation
Pretty proud of the greatness it had,
Which learned much too late,
If you want to be great,
Pretty good is, in fact, pretty bad.
