HuffPost headline/story: "Russia Today Anchor Admits Spreading 'Lies' For
Putin * Correspondent Sara Firth's announcement came nearly two hours after she
stated on Twitter that RT anchors "do work for Putin" and spread "lies". Firth
alleged that the network asks its anchors to "obscure the truth," -- Hmmm,
sounds like the job requirement for a White House appointment ...

HuffPost headline/story: "CNN Removes Reporter Diana Magnay From
Israel-Gaza After 'Scum' Tweet * CNN has removed correspondent Diana Magnay from
covering the Israeli-Palestinian conflict after she tweeted that Israelis who
were cheering the bombing of Gaza, and who had allegedly threatened her, were
“scum.” *
“She deeply regrets the language used, which was aimed directly at those
who had been targeting our crew," the CNN spokeswoman continued. "She certainly
meant no offense to anyone beyond that group, and she and CNN apologize for any
offense that may have been taken.” * The spokeswoman said Magnay has been
assigned to Moscow." -- "assigned to Moscow"? That'll win points for the
Mosqued man... NOT!

How about this for a solution to illegal aliens... Round up the necessary
illegal aliens from Mexico, fly them back to the Guatamalan border to build a
fence between Guatamala & Mexico (which is shorter so it should cost less
and be quicker to finish), then hire those Mexicans to guard new fence. How
simple can it get.

Online headline: "Cameron seeks to rally Europe against Russia" -- This
move demonstrates how ill-respected both the UN and the US are at this moment in
world history.
---
Online story: "MIAMI — A jury in northwestern Florida awarded a staggering
$23 billion judgment late Friday against the country’s second-largest tobacco
company for causing the death of a chain smoker who died of lung cancer at the
age of 36. * Michael Johnson Sr. died in 1996 after smoking for more than 20
years. In 2006, his widow, Cynthia Robinson, of Pensacola, sued R. J. Reynolds
the maker of the Kool brand cigarettes her husband had smoked, arguing that the
company had deliberately concealed the health hazards its product caused." --
Good grief... if you started smoking in 1976, there was not much doubt you knew
what the evils of cigarette smoking were. What we have here is a jury with a
liberal public school education not knowing about personal responsibilities and
accountabilities of making choices.

It's July 20... 45 years ago, Neil Armstrong took "one giant leap for
mankind". Russia has taken 3 giant steps back this July.
---
Speaking of "3 giant steps back", a fellow BCer reports that ISIS religious
and judicial bodies in the Ninewa province of Iraq have issued decrees
specifying the amount of rent to be charged for property, forbade marriages
outside its courts, and forbade clothing stores from selling women's gowns that
are "tight, transparent, or embroidered". Hmmm... sounds like New York City,
Detroit, and Chicago.. Of course, San Francisco would not ban the women's gowns
from being sold.. the gay/transvestite community would be up-in-arms.

L-E headline: "Job Spotlight with Frank Sheppard, Executive Director of
Feeding the Valley: -- Oh.. there was one question Tony forgot to ask: "Can you
fill us in on why the former Executive Director was railroaded out so you could
get this job she built?
---
With the extra space made by tearing down the old school administration
building, why not do something to preserve the 1843 Wynnton Academy building
currently in use at Wynnton School. Move that original building to that site
where it can been seen, yet protected.
---
Hmmm... why are mainstream media cameras focused only on the small children
at the Illegal Alien Interment Camps? There are many MS13 gang thugs there as
well.
---
LIV's L-E "soundoff": "The GOP Benghazi farce has already cost taxpayers
over $3 million." -- "$3 Million"? Hmmm..... obviously a figure pulled out of
thin air, but you know.. that $3 Million might have saved 4 American's if
Hillary had use such to beef up the security... or if the Mosqued man had used
such to get backup soldiers there when he first was aware of the
situation.

Frank Thomas had one particular dream.. to be remembered as baseball's
"greatest hitter".. I'm not sure anyone is about to wrestle that title from Ted
Williams, but Frank Thomas did tie the "Splendid Splinter" with 521 career home
runs. That's 'big league" in my book.
---
I helped coach a Peach LL team with two of my nephews when Frank played.
Both have fond memories of striking him out on occasion, Big Frank has memories
of blasting "no doubt" home runs off them. Looks like a 3-way tie.
---
I coached LL baseball with Robbie Mendenhall during that era. Robbie was a
pretty fair ballplayer himself.. Held many pitching records in the Bi-City long
after he left Columbus High School. Worked his way up the ranks of the Kansas
City minor league system until he "blew out" his pitching arm in the AA level.
There was no "Tommy John surgery back then. We devised a special defense for
when Frank Thomas came to bat.. Frank was a definite "pull hitter" then. We put
our left fielder on the foul line with orders to run5 steps into foul territory
as soon as the pitcher released the ball. Our Center fielder played in the left
fielder's spot, and our right fielder took position in straight away center
field. The third baseman positioned himself on the foul line, our SS moved to
the near normal 3B position. and our 2nd baseman was positioned directly behind
2nd base, about 5 steps into the outfield. Our hitting chart for Frank showed
these were the places that the ball would go if it didn't clear a fence. The
defense actually worked for one of his "at bats" in the first game we called
for it. Frank was a little befuddled that the only person on the right side of
the field was our first baseman. He stepped back into the batter's box, and
laced a smoking shoulder height line drive right over our pitcher (who had the
instinct to duck fast), and the ball landed right in the glove of our 2nd
baseman who was positioned 20 feet into the outfield directly behind 2nd base.
The 2nd baseman's dad is one of our BCers. I think Bob will remember that catch
as well. I bet Big Frank does too.

Can you believe that the 28 year MCSD board member from District 2 wants to
be voted "for" in the runoff based on his record? It's his record why less that
3 of 10 voters voted for him in the first election. It's a shame he qualified
for the 'runoff". Let's end his shame once and for all on Tuesday, July
22.

There's a list of organizations inline for "grants" taken from the 1%
Public Safety LOST tax. A number of the organizations "purpose" is to " reduce
the truancy rate, drug usage, pregnancy and delinquency among juveniles." Why
are we splitting up resources amongst 6+ groups which have duplicate overhead
costs? Why not get all those program leaders together and have them unify into 1
organization with 1 set of fixed expenses? That way, our tax dollars would get
to what the need of the community is rather than into paychecks for the
organizers?
---
This item off the Public Agenda requests to Council is disturbing:
"Nikolaus Sneshkoff, representing Empire Loft and Flowers Building Loft Tenants:
Recommendation for additional parking for Uptown Columbus." -- Just exactly who
does this private organization want to pay for their parking? This is not a
taxpayer project.
---
And another Public Agenda request: " Ashley Sweeney, representing Live
Healthy Columbus Coalition: The Partnerships to Improve Health Grant." -- Good
grief.. giving personal use grants to private organizations is not something
the taxpayers are responsible for!
---
And the worst (so far) Council request item come from our City Manager: "
FISCAL 2014 OFFICE OF JUVENILE JUSTICE AND DELINQUENCY PREVENTION: Authorization
is requested to submit a grant application to the Office of Juvenile Justice
Delinquency Prevention for a $244,565 grant with a 25 percent cash match of
$74,855 to enhance Muscogee County Juvenile Drug Court Services under the
Chattahoochee Judicial Circuit to include Harris County and if awarded, amend
the Multi-Governmental Grant Fund by the amount of the grant award. Harris
County has agreed to fund the 25 percent local cash match for this three-year
grant period. This grant will be used to enhance Muscogee County Juvenile Drug
Court Services under he Chattahoochee Judicial Circuit to Harris County." -- Why
is Harris County being considered for our tax dollars!
---
Whoa! This is another outrageous City Manager request: "LEATHER ITEMS
(ANNUAL CONTRACT) — It is requested that council approve the annual contract for
the purchase of various leather items on an “as needed basis” from the following
vendors: Lawmens & Shooters Supply Inc. (Vero Beach, Fla.), Smyrna Police
Distributors (Smyrna, Ga.), DGG Tactical (Jacksonville, Fla.) and GT
Distributors Inc. (Austin, Texas), for the estimated annual contract value of
$102,518.77. The leather items consist of belts, handcuff cases, flashlight
holders, baton holders, holsters, magazine pouches, etc., and will be used by
the Police Department, Sheriff’s Office and Marshal’s Office." -- How does our
law enforcement go through $102+ dollars worth of 'accessories" in a year? maybe
it would be cheaper to implant a tracking devoce in such "accessories" so we
know where they have gone. Surely, these items aren't "worn out" at such a rate.
I have holsters, gun belts I purchased 20 years ago that aren't "worn
out".

L-E commentary piece headline by Jonathon Banks, Washington Post
writer/researcher: "Obama says he ended the ‘War on Drugs:’ Don’t believe him"
-- Hmmm.. another mainstream media elitist who finally stopped drinking the
Kool-Aid served up by the Democratic Party agenda committee.:H... now if we can
get him to reread the Hillsbury DOUGHgirl's records and explanations.
---
Another L-E Commentary: Leonard Pitts: "Republican Party can’t get out of
its own way" -- Well, I'm not actually going to read the content of Leonard
"The" Pitts as I'm sure he's wrong in his content, but he got the headline
right....and that alone is worth mentioning..
