L-E headline/story: " City gives $3.1M to crime prevention since 2010 * Some grassroots leaders say grants go to wrong organizations * Seth Brown, the city’s director of crime prevention, said the programs funded so far have saved taxpayers about $2.5 million by reducing recidivism rates at the local county jail and steering people away from criminal activity." -- You know .. spending $3.1 Million to save an undocumented $2.5 Million doesn't seem like a "good investment.. Given that documentation is/would be hard to "prove" as an absolute, how about requiring all recipients provide their 990 Tax forms and 501 (c) 3 IRS charitable organization letters before being given any funds.

Hmmm.. Jihad Aleem Hud.. could it be that there are two Dr. J. Aleem Huds, and only one is named Jihad?

Jonathan Gruber stupid LIV's L-E "soundoff": " When it comes to the losers of the SPLOST vote, sour grapes are not only rampant, they’re fermenting and setting a bad example for the ones we claim to care about." -- 8,900 +/- "yeses" do not make for a community confirmation. With over 100,000 registered voters, and over half of those would be MCSD employees or parents of school aged children, the lack of confirmation of those most directly affected rings loudly of apathy. Contact your reps and get three things changed before the MCSD/MCSB makes another "end run" for another SPLOST in 2021. 1 - eliminate "special elections" - such referendums need to be combined with the November only General Election agenda. 2 - the formation of a SPLOST Project Review process.. the GA Laws strictly prohibit maintenance projects except explicit ones pertaining to "roads. streets, and bridges", and 3 - No SPLOST project figures to exceed more than 90% of the 1% of sales taxes collected inn the affected areas in the previous 5 years. The 2009 and 2015 SPLOST goals did not, will not attain such, but not being restricted allows many not-going-to-happen one-issue projects to be added to appeal to one-issue voter groups.

L-E headline: "Piece of Whittlesey Road to close April 6 for 45 days" -- Hmmm... is it coincidence that the same person who brought us the wasteful SPLOST is the same guy in charge of the much delayed, over budget Whittlesey Road widening? Nah...
---
On above headline: You know.. why doesn't the GA DOT just close ALL of the above road and complete the rest of it in those same 45 days? How many times have you ridden down Whittlesey and seen idle equipment and zero workers on a nice sunny day...

L-E commentary column: "Richard Hyatt: Should kids be out of school for Good Friday?" -- Hmmm...Let's just simplify the situation... no Easter observance for Christians, no Christmas holidays for non-Christians.
