Today is election day in Columbus, GA.. Ironically it's St Patrick's Day as well..you know, we have to power to turn people's faces "green around the gills". Vote "NO confidence".

If you feel the MCSD/MCSB has been forthright in its policies/grade progress, support it..on the other hand, if you think they have been less than transparent about spending our money effectively, vote against it. The measure is expected to add about 300,000 new voters to the rolls." -- Good grief.. the woman has been governor of Oregon less than one month and has ripped the top off of Pandora's Box! Let's all plan to take a trip to Oregon this year, and apply for an Oregon driver's license using your hotel's address. Leave a forwarding address at the hotel to your home, and when you get your ballot, vote Republican.

Listening to a CVS ad last night about its decision to stop selling cigarettes made me think how much in tax revenue has been lost to states that have $3-$5 dollar per package tax on them. Sure, most people just go elsewhere, but there's still a lot of cigarettes that won't be purchased because the convenience has been lost. There goes the indigent healthcare cushion...

L-E headline/story: "MUSCOGEE COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT * Board approves salary compression plan *

(Kathy) Tessin (Chief Human Resources Office) told the Ledger-Enquirer last week that a combination of state budget cuts from the Great Recession and market conditions increasing the compensation package to attract some new employees has resulted in no raises for many employees during the past nine years, some veteran employees earning less than new hires in the same job and some employees earning less than the staff they supervise. * The plan’s first step calls for an internal analysis to develop a tiered salary increase proposal for longer service employees. * The second step calls for continued adjustments as well as a total redesign of the salary system using an external compensation consultant." -- Good grief.. the administrative division of the MCSD had salary increases that pushed 10% in 2014, and the MCSD is using money that it could pay deserving employees a raise with, but are using it to hire an "external compensation consultant".. and like any external compensation consultant, this group knows who is signing the checks so there is no objectiveness to be expected.. On the other hand.. a forensic audit would show the waste and unneeded employees which would free up millions of dollars to use to fairly compensate the front line employees.
