Received a "mailer" yesterday from the "Yes go US...uh...Kids' committee. It lists some names who are " endorsing" it. Funny thing is that the lion's share of big buck donors' names are missing. Guess 'those donors' maybe a little embarrassed about visibly supporting the SPLOST that will bulge their pockets.
---
Also on the "mailer" are some former Spencer High students. I wanna know why they are endorsing a new Spencer High building when the MCSD/MCSB ignored keeping the past Spencer High schools, the true legacy of William H. Spencer, maintained all along ?
---
I'm looking at this "Yes for US..uh..Kids" mailer again. Interesting... It' s slick finished cardboard that is oversized for it's "need", and costs a premium to be mailed. That committee could have sent a standard sized, flat finished mailer at a much cheaper cost...but, you know, this sorta defines the issue..when people are using other people's money, they usually forget to use it frugally. By today.. 99% of these mailers will already be in the trash can

You know, of all the abuse the MCSD/MCSB has committed in handling tax dollar priorities, the one that gets to me the most is the fact that there's been $30,000,000.00 "squirreled away" to build an unneeded "want" while actual physical NEEDS went unmet. Instead of fixing rooms for autistic students, instead of providing needed handicap accessed, instead of fixing one of our newest schools foundation issues, and instead of buying enough books for all our students, previous Superintendents and Boards have bought artsy support by promising a Fine Arts Academy "to be built later".
---
Accountability.. I define accountability as getting the job done on time, and on a reasonable budget.
Where is the accountability of the MCSD/MCSB in getting our current children's "needs" taken care of?
Literally, not using available assets to take care of current needs is not being "accountable".
Parents of autistic children..of handicap children, of bookless children, or those interested in the legacy of William H. Spencer should be at the first MCSB meeting following the SPLOST vote. Demand the board use the $30,000,000.00 not used to fix these problems in the past 12 years to get them corrected. What message has the MCSB/MCSD sent to these children..that they weren't important enough before now?

Online quote source: " “All life demands struggle. Those who have everything given to them become lazy, selfish, and insensitive to the real values of life. The very striving and hard work that we so constantly try to avoid is the major building block in the person we are today.” - Pope Paul VI " (1897-1978) -- Another "bit o' wisdom" that is vacant from the office walls of entitlement agencies and Democratic Party politicians.
---
Online headline: "Obama gives Washington a standup routine * President Obama poked fun at his age, approval rating and other U.S. leaders when he joined in on an annual jokefest Saturday night." -- Surely there was a joke in there... that was actually funny. Oh! I get it.. Obamageddon IS the joke.
---
HuffPOOPOO headline: "Kerry casts doubt on nuke deal with Iran * On the eve of a fresh round of talks with Iran on Saturday, Secretary of State John Kerry couldn't say how close an agreement may be. * GOP accused of undermining deal" -- "GOP accused of undermining deal"? Good grief.. shine a little light on subterfuge and libs call it "undermining"? Hey, GOP, stand up and take a bow.. !
---
Online story: "Americans are getting older, but not this old: Social Security records show that 6.5 million people in the U.S. have reached the ripe old age of 112. * In reality, only few could possibly be alive. As of last fall, there were only 42 people known to be that old in the entire world." -- This must actually be the files of the Chicago Democratic Party's voting list...
---
In regards to the L-E's article on current City employee salaries.. I really don't see much being out-of-hand, but my first question: How are raises of 3-to-10% figured? COLA and inflation rates are less than 2% "by government figures"....
---
From L-E story: "SPLOST supporters say money may be used for only capital projects" -- I agree. Unfortunately, too many of the projects are "maintenance", and the GA law governing the use of SPLOST revenue EXPLICITLY limit maintenance use be limityed to "roads, streets, and bridges", and none of those are included in the listed "wish LUST".

Jonathan Gruber top-of-the-stupid-list LIV's L0E "soundoff": "One predictable thing about Republicans is they will harp and complain and whine about anybody trying to move America forward and will do everything in their power to drag it backward." -- Heaven... help us! This is obviously a product of our public education system!
