You know.. the high powered SPLOST proponents have put up billboards .. you've seen them.."Vote "YES for KIDS"... "There's No Time To Waste".. All that's missing is a picture of Nancy Pelosi saying, "Just pass it.. you can read it later".

Now,in my book, "Time" is money, and the MCSD finds plenty of ways to waste that. Just look at the recent sports related projects,. they want to build several free standing wrestling rooms... at from $750,000-to-$875,000. That's $312.00 a square foot..and for what.. a concrete floored barn-like structure with a few showers/toilets, and a $15,000.00 mat?

Take a 1,500 sg ft home.. throw in 3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, hard wood flooring and it's pretty nice.. at $312.00 a square ft, that home would cost you $468,000.00 Hey, you'd be crazy to spend $468,000.00 on a 1,500 square ft home.

Oh.. and they must really like Shaw.. they want to spend $1.5 MILLIION on a Field House which would have locker rooms, training, general purpose, storage, and laundry rooms.... and a weight room. In fact they really like weight rooms for Shaw because, in addition, they want another $1.72 MILLION to spend on another room which will have wrestling and ANOTHER weight room. These folks don't have a plan other than wanting a ton of money to spend like drunken sailors.

Vote "NO...confidence".

Let them bring back a properly thought out, properly planned, a properly discussed SPLOST proposal next year. Waiting a year will insure better communications.

The "haves" are running their "Vote Yes for Kids" TV ads.. They're preaching "accountability".. Hmmm..a forensic audit would help them prove they want "accountability" . When's that audit going to start?

Well, the "Yes for Kids" (at least they could have been truthful and say "Yes for Us") committee filed its first Campaign Contribution Disclosure Report on Tuesday. As expected.. it's loaded with building contractors, electrical, computing & cabling contractors, lawyers, developers, and bankers.. So far, over $101,000.00 has been donated. You know.. if the SPLOST was open and the MCSD had a successful track record in past SPLOSTs, no one would have to donate/push for another one. If the public felt good about the accountability of past ones, the public would be eager to support a new one.

One of the donors/ ad spokespersons is former Superintendent Jim Buntin. Jim Buntin now live in Santa Rosa, FL.. guess he figured he could donate $1,000.00 since he won't be in Columbus having to pay the SPLOST taxes on everything he purchases.

Another "strange" $1,000.00 donation came from a GA Power executive... guess he wants to makes sure more buildings are running their AC during the summer months...

Good grief.. it's hard to put "Pelosi" and " intelligence" in a single story, much less a single sentence.

Another law is not going to change the problem. What will, though, is "zero tolerance" for criminal illegally possessing/using a gun in another crime.. mandatory life for such, plus automatic death sentences if someone is shot during a crime.
