Online headline/story: "Major survey shows gun ownership declining * According to the latest General Social Survey, 32 percent of Americans either own a firearm themselves or live with someone who does, which ties a record low set in 2010. That's a significant decline since the late 1970s and early 1980s, when about half of Americans told researchers there was a gun in their household." -- Wait a minute... with the DOJ and White House, and the Democratic Party telling us that they are anti-2nd Amendment, I'll betcha that it's just a case of Americans not wanting to tell strangers that they have a gun in their homes. Either that or the questions didn't ask about or include those who said they were carrying one on their hip or in their purse.

HuffPOOPOO headline: "Joe Biden Goes Ballistic On Senate Republicans: Iran Letter Beneath 'Dignity Of An Institution I Revere'" -- Hey Bleep Veep Joe, is this another "BFD" like OObamaCRAP? Well, that's being reviewed by the US Supreme Court as it is, but it's a little hard to have credibility about Senatorial :dignity" when the Senate President is caught cursing on a live microphone.
---
HuffPOOPOO "headlie" : "Americans Are Divided Over How Serious A Problem Clinton's Emails Pose" -- Whoa! now Democrats may seem divided but the rest of Americans are pretty sure she's guilty of arrogance and malfeasance.

Comments/questions about the L-E's endorsement of the SPLOST:
Surprise, surprise surprise.... NOT! The L-E has endorsed the SPLOST.

The first question to ask is: How much of the $140,000.00 has the "Yes Committee" spread into the L-E coffers?

Now, before endorsing Dr Lewis's "ideas" the L-E editorial staff needs to ask itself a couple of questions:

Why did Dr Lewis use pictures of new suburban Atlanta facilities in his comparison slide show rather than images from his previous job in Polk County, Florida.

My next question is why didn't Dr Lewis reach into the $30,000,000,00 set aside for a new Fine Arts Academy building and spend that money on more needed fixes. like autism refits, and handicap accesses, repairing Spencer, and text books?
---
From L-E editorial: "If voters approve it, the sales tax to be decided March 17 would last for five years or until it raises $192,185,000 to be spent on 24 capital projects, a couple of them rolled over from the last tax that expired before they could be funded. The top expenditure would be for a new Spencer High; second would be a $34 million upgrade for technology and tech-related infrastructure." -- Good grief.. the tax would last for 5 years.. there is no chance of it coming off early as no 1% tax has or will generate as much revenue as the MCSD/MCSB has included in its "Wish LUST".
---
From the L-E editorial: "Some have questioned the timing: Why is the vote not postponed until the next regular election? Because the schools need these repairs and improvements now. Indeed, a more relevant question might be why the last SPLOST was allowed to expire; even if this one is approved, the money will not be coming in until summer." -- Good grief.. the MCSD has been sitting on $30,000,000.00 over 10+ years. Why wasn't this used for the benefit of current students?
---
It was inevitable.. Robert Granger has resigned from St Francis Hospital following last years discovery that there is some $30,000,000.00*** "bouncing around in who-knows-whereville". My personal observations of Robert Granger are better than what has brought him to his knees.. Perhaps it was blind trust in a friend.. perhaps a forensic audit would have uncovered what was happening. ***Note: this $30,000,000.00 is not related to the $30,000,000.00 the MCSD/MCSB has had socked away. We know where this is. What we don't know is why the MCSD/MCSB sat on it as needs of the kids went unanswered.. Spencer could have been repaired at less cost, autistic children could have already had adequate rooms, Shaw could have had better handicap access, and every kid could have had a text book for every class.
---
No one doubts there are "needs" within the MCSD.. unfortunately, the MCSD/MCSB has it's eyes on too many "wants". Slow this freight-train-to-nowhere down.. a "no vote" will allow for proper evaluations and determinations over what the priorities should be, and it can be voted on again next year.. One year is a short time compared to the obvious wastes included in the current SPLOST proposal.

You know... the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer should either forego editorial endorsements, or refuse advertising money from either side of a political race/issue. How easy is it for an opinion to be swayed by the amount of money offered. Sorta like how the L-E will campaign against lobbyists gaining "the ear" of a politician with gifts, trips. game tickets, and 3-martini lunches/suppers.
---
L-E story: "Superintendent David Lewis on Monday recommended the Muscogee County School Board approve a two-step plan to address salary compression issues. * After the work session, Kathy Tessin, the Muscogee County School District's chief human resources officer, told the Ledger-Enquirer the plan would affect approximately 2,200 of the 4,300 full-time employees who are not teachers or school-based administrators," -- Good grief.. a state legislator would be raked over the coals for dangling a pay increase over the heads of state workers the week before an election! The real story that should be printed here is that the MCSD Administrative personnel received almost 10% more pay in 2014 than 2013!
---
From above story: "Georgia law allows SPLOST money to be spent on only capital projects, but the $192,185,000 the MCSD administration is requesting to collect from the SPLOST in five years would mean the district could use less general fund on capital expenses and more of it on personnel, which takes up about 85 percent of this year's $264,717,610 budget." -- More reason to stop the SPLOST.. since SPLOST money cannot be legal used for maintenance, how will passing the SPLOST free up any revenues the main budget has to fund?
---
From above L-E story: "During the work session, ( Kathy) Tessin (the Muscogee County School District's chief human resources officer) told the board, "We're starting to see turnover in critical positions where we feel salary issues were a significant part of the decisions." * Tessin said, has resulted in no raises for many employees during the past nine years, some veteran employees earning less than new hires in the same job and some employees earning less than the staff they supervise * For example, she said, a secretary with 12 years of experience is making $12.72 an hour, the same rate as a new hire." -- Arrggghhh!!!!! How can incompetence be tolerated! No one in private businesses hires new personnel at the same level as experienced personnel, much less pay workers more than their immediate supervisors!
---
From above story: "The (MCSD) board is scheduled to vote on the recommendation during its March 16 meeting, starting at 6 p.m." -- Why not stand outside the polling stations and give every employee half of a $100 dollar bill, and tell them they get the other half after they vote "yes"?
---
Jonathan Gruber stupid LIV's L-E "soundoff": " The past is the past. An audit won’t make a difference now. The board members can now concentrate on future money. Instead of only criticism, Myers and Thomas should offer suggestions for making it better." -- Hmmm.. a little "counting of one's chickens before they hatch" mentality.. either that "or the fix is in"... on the other hand, there will be plenty of time for a proper audit if "we just say "NO"... until next year which is the great suggestion offered by Thomas and Myers.
---
Jonathan Gruber stupid LIV's L-E "soundoff": " Well, Columbus made national news. Our Rep. Mc-Koon called a vote when the Democratic member went to the bathroom." -- Hmmm.. guess Democrats know which room in the Capitol best receives their BS.
---
Jonathan Gruber extra-stupid LIV's L-E "soundoff": " SPLOST isn’t about administrators or board members, it’s about students. They need roofs that don’t leak, heating and air, safe buses, etc., plain and simple." -- Good grief.. why would you give $192,000,000.00 more dollars to the same people who have let the building deteriorate to this point... and without a forensic audit of where the money has been spent/wasted?
---
I agree with the SAE National Office, and the president of the University of Oklahama... the "n-word" has no place on campuses.. so let's ban music that exploits the "n-word" as well.
---
L-E's "Quotable": “We may achieve climate, but weather is thrust upon us.” - O. Henry (William Sydney Porter) American author (1862-1910)" -- Hmmm... bet this is not posted on the walls of Algore's office nor any Global Warming group either.
