Online headline/story: "Obama Administration Not Sticking Up For Payroll Tax Cut * For the past two years, U.S. workers have enjoyed a 2 percentage-point increase in take-home pay thanks to a payroll tax reduction trumpeted by lawmakers as an effective lift for a sagging economy. * In a victory for the Obama administration during the lame duck session of 2010, Congress reduced the payroll tax rate from 6.2 percent to 4.2 percent, giving the average U.S. household an additional $1,000 per year. Democrats demanded an additional extension at the end of 2011, and while Republicans initially balked, the political repercussions of hiking taxes on struggling families proved too much to bear." -- To begin with, all the payroll tax reduction did was reduce end of the year tax refunds, but now that potUS Obluster has no re-election plans, he will extract it back from the middle class as he tries to squeeze the wealthy who will primarily reduce their earned income to below whatever thresholds are necessary to avoid paying more additional taxes. Obluster told his minions to lean "Forward", but now they have, he's gonna want'em to 'Bend Over".

Online headline:" Bob Marshall: Virginia GOP Pressures Me '7 Days A Week' To Drop Anti-Abortion Agenda" -- When will the GOP finally recognize that issues between man and God cannot be solved by legislation? I'm as 'pro-life' as anyone, but what a woman or couple decide to do about an unwanted pregnancy is something she or they must deal with God....merciful God...forgiving God, and God will determine her or their eternity. We do not ever need to make women revert to back alley abortions again. All the Republicans should stand up against is government involvement in paying for or promoting abortions. We should all pray for women and couple having to deal with such decisions.

Online story: "The Tufts University board of trustees unanimously voted this month to strip famed cyclist Lance Armstrong of the honorary degree given to him at a graduation commencement in 2006" -- What pettiness! If Tufts wants to prove it takes the high ground on moral issues, maybe Tufts should revoke any honorary degrees it has bestowed on every politician who has supported government funded abortions.

Online story: "TORONTO -- The former executive director of a Salvation Army facility has been charged in the alleged massive theft of thousands of toys and donations from the charity's Toronto warehouse. * Staff Insp. Tony Riviere said Monday David Rennie, 51, is charged with theft, possession of stolen goods and breach of trust and will appear in court on Jan. 4. * The Salvation Army announced the theft last week, saying up to 100,000 items worth about $2 million were allegedly stolen from the facility in Toronto's North End over nearly two years. * Salvation Army Spokesman John Murray says Rennie had been fired. Murray says the charity will work to ensure it never happens again>" -- What a horrible happening, but the Salvation Army should be supported for bringing this to light and going after the 'sob' rather than trying to sweep it under the carpet. Hmmm, we should be glad potUS Obluster was not the one to discover the scandal.

---

Is it Morsi or Mursi? Different news sources have taken sides with this issue, but that doesn't bother me like potUS Obluster supporting him regardless of how he spells his name.

Looks like interim superintendent John Phillips has been deemed the "fall upon the sword" messenger for the MCSD board. What does he care.... he has full pension and is double dipping for as long as he curries favor of the board. What we need is a superintendent who will 'fall on the sword" for the students' needs.

---

From the standpoint of having a $8,500.00 a month superintendent on the payroll ( at $60,000.00 for the next 7 months versus $120,000.00) let's not lose perspective that we were glad Phillips resigned. Is Auburn going to rehire Chizik in a couple of years because he'll work cheaper?

---

One of the criteria for the new superintendent is "five years of successful experience as a superintendent in a similar urban district,". Huh? When was the last time WE had a superintendent with 5 years of success? In fact, when was the last time we had a superintendent who served for 5 years?

---

Also of note is the age of some of the applicants/aspirants mentioned in the L-E story: Eugene White is 65 and Jim Arnold is 60. Why is the MCSD entertaining candidates that are soon to retire? Focus should be on someone out to make his/her mark, not someone thinking about buying a new La-Z-Boy.

How can the government force us to have government issued I'D to board an airplane, yet sue states that require a government issued ID to vote?

L-E "Thought for Today": “In youth we feel richer for every new illusion; in maturer years, for every one we lose.” — Anne Sophie Swetchine, Russian-French author (1782-1857). -- Sounds like the evolution from a liberal DUMBERat to a Conservative and Responsible adult.

---

L-E story: "COLUMBUS, Ohio — A condemned killer trying to delay his execution because of his extreme weight hasn’t raised enough new issues to warrant the legal challenge, a federal judge ruled Monday. * Death row inmate Ronald Post, who weighs more than 400 pounds, is asking the courts to stop his January execution on the grounds his weight could cause him to suffer severe pain during the procedure." -- What the judge should said was that the guy should just be left in his cell and let him starve to death. Both problems solved, and tremendous saving on the prison meal costs alone.

Thank heavens the Florida State-GA Tech game is on at 8:00 PM Saturday. Hallmark has a new Christmas movie premiering at the same time so I'll have something entertaining and worthwhile to watch.

---

Why is Nick Saban concerned where the loser of the SEC Championship game will playing during the Bowl season? Is there a chink in his confidence?

---

L-E headline: "Buffett urges higher taxes on ‘ultrarich’ -- Hmmm, sorta like Br'er Rabbit urging Br'er Bear and Br'er Fox not to throw him into the briar patch.
