Online headline: "Extremist's arrest in Paris thwarts 'imminent' attack * France's top security official said police have arrested an Islamic extremist in Paris as he was planning to attack one or more churches." -- Amazing... amazing that American mainstream media heralds the French police for efficiency, when in effect, the jihadist had actually shot himself and called for an ambulance. Of course if this occurred here, mainstream American media and the ACLU would have been accusing our police of "racial profiling"!

Online story: "President Barack Obama will once again stop short of calling the 1915 massacre of Armenians a genocide, prompting anger and disappointment from those who have been pushing him to fulfill a campaign promise and use the politically fraught term on the 100th anniversary of the killings this week. * As a senator and presidential candidate, Obama did describe the killings of Armenians as "genocide" and said the U.S. government had a responsibility to recognize it as such. As a candidate in January 2008, Obama had pledged to recognize the genocide and at least one of his campaign surrogates, the current U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, Samantha Power, recorded a nearly five-minute video at the time imploring Armenian-Americans to vote for Obama precisely because he would keep his word on the issue.
But, Obama has never used that description since taking office, mainly out of deference to Turkey, a key U.S. partner and NATO ally, which is fiercely opposed to the "genocide" label. " -- Good grief.. why would anyone believe Obamageddon would 1 - Keep a promise made to get non-liberals votes. or 2 - to say anything about Islamist slaughters. Obamageddon won't call ISIS Islamist, won't call Pric Holder or Al Sharlatan racists, won't call Bill Ayers a terrorist, and won't even count Americans who have given up on looking for a job unemployed.

Online headline/story: "DEA Chief Michele Leonhart To Resign Amid 'Sex Party' Scandal, Policy Disagreements * The embattled head of the Drug Enforcement Administration will resign next month, Attorney General Eric Holder announced Tuesday." -- "resign next month"? Good grief.. does she need that much time for Holder to make sure any administration incriminating e-mails are erased? What's with this administration.. no private tax-producing industry fires people "next month"..some security personnel would stay with her in her office as she packed her personal items and escort her out of the building.

Online story: "PBS is conducting an internal review following revelations that producers of "Finding Your Roots" may have violated the network's editorial standards after a request by Ben Affleck that the program not reveal he had a slave-owning ancestor. * Meanwhile, Affleck has expressed regret for seeking to have the information omitted from the episode that featured the actor and aired last October." -- Good grief.. why is there such "racial profiling... racial discrimination... racial guilt" for what an ancestor did when it was "legal" during another era of American history? This would not be uncommon among descendants of early American settlers. Besides, ABC News had no problem with "Obama's great-great-great-great grandfather George Washington Overall owned two slaves, a Baltimore Sun study found, based on 1850 census records." HuffPOOPOO headline: "Fresh! 16 nature-inspired baby names for Earth Day" -- Bay, Brook, Canyon, Dale, Delta Dune, Eartha, Forest, Glade, Lake, Marsh, Meadow, Moss, Ocean, River, and Terra. I'd scratch my head... squint my eyes, and hold my tongue as best I could for 15 of these names, But.. BUT if any of my grandchildren are named "Glade", like the room air freshener, , I'd disown his/her mother, and neuter the father.

Correction to statement I made yesterday.. the CHS, HHS, BHS 40th Reunion will be held on the Walking Bridge at 14th Street Saturday night, not the Dillingham Street Bridge as previously stated. I do profess my previous info was provided by a purported... no, like the L-E would say, "allegedly" knowledgeable source... and he hadn't been drinking.. an Uptown Columbus rep "corrected" me, but still that source of info made errors in facts by saying the Frogtown Hollow Jam being held at Woodruff Park is a mile away and the events won't overlap.. hmmm.. since when have 3 blocks become a mile, and since when have 3 blocks stopped party goers from mixing? Hmmm.. you know, if the $244K Queen TT "Lounge" were finished, both parties would have a common meeting place.

With a tip of the hat to a fellow BCer: Remember the KFC Hillary meal deal.. two small breasts and two large thighs". Well, rumor has it that KFC is going to offer the "Obama Cabinet Bucket"... nothing but left wings and chicken sh*t..

Online story: "The Smyrna City Council voted 7-0 to approve purchasing 75 body cameras for the city’s police department at a cost of $68,140 at its meeting Monday." -- $908.00 each? A top of the line "Go Pro" body camera and a chest harness goes all day on line for about $500.00... This reminds me of Security System sales when the Stocking Strangler terrorized Columbus.. installation costs doubled.. even trebled in some situations as sales reps basically kidnapped our safety concerns and charged outrageous rates... simply because they could as our emotions were being "kidnapped".

Online story: "Gov. Nathan Deal said he plans to sign legislation Tuesday to allow a state takeover of "chronically failing" schools and set up a statewide vote in 2016 to authorize the move." -- Hmmm, just a bill allowing counties to initiate a recall the entire school board by election option at county expense would be more effective.. and cheaper.
---
Online story: "We clearly haven’t heard the last of the religious freedom bill in the General Assembly. * Last weekend, delegates to 11 Republican congressional district conventions across Georgia passed a resolution urging the legislature to pass a religious freedom measure that cleared the state Senate early last month but died in the House of Representatives. * Grassroots Republicans sent a loud and clear message to elected leaders Saturday,” said Sen. Josh McKoon, R-Columbus, the legislation’s chief sponsor. “To honor the promise of the First Amendment, I intend to carry that message back with me next year to the Gold Dome.” -- You know.. if media, even the Republicans referred to the bill correctly, there would be less turmoil created. It is truly a civil rights issue to allow private citizens to afford standing up for their rights and beliefs under the due process guarantee of our Constitution... rather than mainstream media public lynching.

Online story: "The State Department on Monday would not rule out giving Iran up to $50 billion as a so-called "signing bonus" for agreeing to a nuclear deal later this year, " -- Good grief.. why not just put a $25 BILLION dollar reward out for the destruction of all Iranian nuclear development sites, and let Israel collect it? That's a Win-Win for the world and we'd save $25 Billion!

Jonathan Gruber stupid LIV's L-E "soundoff": " Congressman Bishop is correct that America is losing its focus and will continue to do so until we hold our scientists, engineers, etc., in at least as high status as we do athletes and entertainers." -- Well.. it won't start until we hold Congressman to their promises, and individual citizens become responsible for their own lives.. that will not happen until Democratic Partyy politicians are eliminated, and government entitlement programs are limited to hand-up versus hand-out status.
---
Jonathan Gruber extra-stupid LIV's L-E "soundoff": " We are only paying $15 a month and I think that’s worth it even if it is once a week. I think that’s the best thing Mayor Tomlinson has come up with lately." -- Good grief.. to begin with Mayor TomLYINGson did not come up with the garbage fees being tacked on.. (I still believe they are illegal under GA law for city status as such require the local government to provide police/fire and garbage services to get City status), but that is not the issue.. The issue is how picayune Mayor TomLYINGson's evaluation is.. she doesn't want to save money.. she just wants to divert more money to spend on what she wants.. Taking away garbage service to save residences $6-to-$8.00 ANNUALLY while giving up twice-a-week garbage service is not a good deal. As you notice, she cannot tell us how these saving will be realized, as it will still take as many trips to the dump since as the same amount garbage will have to be picked up and disposed of whether it's done once or twice a week.
---
L-E story: " (Mayor TomLYINGson's police)pay plan, which is the product of a commission that included leaders in Mayor Teresa Tomlinson’s administration and representatives from the police department, involves giving police officers regular pay raises at different intervals. * Officers would receive a $750 raise after one year, another $1,000 after three years, $1,200 after five years, another $1,500 at seven years and again after 10 years. Thereafter, they would get a $1,500 raise every five years, with the final hike coming in their 30th year. In total, the package would provide $11,950 in pay raises over the 30-year span," -- Hmmm ...Since the current goal of the CPD is 513 officers, $11,750 per 513 equal, $6, 027,750 dollars over starting pay for a 30 year period. Just think...if the $750,000.00 payout from the Public Safety LOST to the Crime Prevention Committee for inane grants were put into an account, more than enough pay raise funding would be accumulated in only 9 years.
---
L-E editorial comment on Russell County's sheriff's opinion: "Taylor prefers the idea of merit raises. The sheriff knows, of course, that such a policy is sometimes a no-win proposition for both government and private management, but especially the former, because it's public record. But Taylor will take the heat. * "Give me a sum of money and let me decide how much each employee gets," he said. "... Some will get 5 percent and some may get zero. That is the only fair way to divvy out raises." He's absolutely right." --
Good grief.. in a privately run business,, yes, the man running the office should have discretion to pay workers as he sees fit.. it's his, or her, business, and decisions mean whether a profit is made.. Not so in public offices.. tax and fines are it's revenue sources, and giving a public official such power of the wallet for personnel means that individuals can get favored treatments for bringing the most fines (speed trap!), or for just being a friend of the public official.

L-E story: "AUBURN, Ala. — Auburn spent more than $1.67 million for its eight days in Tampa, Fla., for the Outback Bowl. That’s according to an expense report released by the athletics department Tuesday.
The total for the trip came out to $1,671,722.59. The biggest expense was in the form of lodging and meals, which cost $924,687: $761,548 went to the team and staff; $132,899 was for the band and cheerleaders ; and the remaining $30,240 was set aside for the official traveling, which included members of the university faculty and other athletic department representatives." -- There are a myriad of other expenses as well to get to the $1,67 Million spent/charged/whatever, but it goes to show how easy it is to not be concerned with expenses when you're spending "other people's money". How many people were part of the football/band/cheerleader groups.. 250 +/- ?. Let's just say 300 to be on the safe side.. That $1,67 million would be an average of $5500.00 per person ..
