Online headline: North Korean missile 'blows up' on test launch as Pence heads for South"- Another Kim Jong Oooops...in a word...ooops..

Online headline/story: "Top military commanders say they can't keep up with the amount of drugs flowing into the US * "We continue to have these shortfalls," Adm. Kurt Tidd, SouthCom chief, told the Senate Committee on Armed Services during testimony last week. * "We continue to be able to see a significant amount of traffic towards the Central American peninsula," Tidd added. "Unfortunately we only have the resources to be able to intercept about 25%." -- "Damn the "torpedoes, FIRE the Admiral! Good grief.. The Admiral just violated Trump's first rule of negotiating.. do not tell the enemy/opposition your circumstance! Telling the "enemy" that you can only stop "25%" of the their drugs just encourages the drug lords.. The only thing admitting to stopping the 25% does is allow the drug lords to raise the price by 1/3rd on drugs that AREN'T stopped, and they will get the same or more in revenues.

From the "who are these people" department - Online headline: "Trump supporters, opponents clash in Berkeley, California park" -- How come those in favor of Trump are called "Trump supporters", yet those opposed are called "Trump opponents or anti-Trump". Aren't the "anti-Trump/Trump opponents" really just Hellary/Bernie/Pelosi supporters?

L-E headline/story: "EDUCATION * School District proposing 4 percent budget increase * The Muscogee County School District’s general fund budget next fiscal year, including transfers to other funds, will be $287.3 million — $12.6 million more than this fiscal year, an increase of 4.6 percent — if the school board approves the administration’s recommended budget. * To balance the budget, superintendent David Lewis plans to use $16.7 million of the $40.2 million fund balance MCSD expects to have by June 30, the end of FY 2017. That would reduce the fund balance from approximately 38 days worth of operational expenses to 21 days."  -- Good grief.. Dr Lewis must not have passed Econ101! With expected declines in SPLOST revenues as suggested by Mayor Tom-LYING-son's budget, no private sector CEO would reduce his/her "cash on hand" by nearly 42%.. especially when new bond issues are on the horizon, and the raid on cash reduces your "cash on hand" below (and in this case.. WAY below) the 30 day threshold.

Remember when School board member Sallie Lassiter was excoriated because she had family members attending a private school? Well, well, well, school board member Cathy Williams has a couple of family members attending a Christian private school..

Seeing pictures of a helicopter dropping Easter Eggs over Lakebottom Park here in Columbus, broiught flashbacks of the WKRP Radio publicity stunt of dropping live turkeys out of a helicopter over a shopping center parking lot...

L-E headline/story: "Federal judge blocks Arkansas executions *  In a 101-page order Saturday, Baker embraced arguments by the eight prisoners whose executions had been scheduled, plus one other death row inmate, that Arkansas’ reliance on midazolam, a sedative, as an execution drug posed a risk to their constitutional rights. * “The threat of irreparable harm to the plaintiffs is significant: If midazolam does not adequately anesthetize plaintiffs, or if their executions are ‘botched,’ they will suffer severe pain before they die,” Baker, an appointee of President Barack Obama," --  "an execution drug posed a risk to their constitutional rights"? Which constitutional right.. life.. or liberty, or the pursuit of happiness? Isn't that exactly the rights they gave up by committing capital crimes?  And who cares if the criminals suffer a bit.. that would balance out for the suffering their victims and victims' families have suffered.

L-E headline: "COMMENTARY * Officer wrote the book on bad leaders *  (Hmmm....) "The final words of McMaster’s book — “responsibility to the American people” — just might change the way you look at current events. McMaster clearly understands his role and his responsibility to the American people." -- Just wish the L-E writers would adopt some of the “responsibility to the American people”.. when talking about Tom-LYING-son's and Lewis's "plans", I wish the L-E would accept "responsibility to the Columbus citizens".

---
From the "scientific proof scientists know no more than the rest of us" department - Online headline: "Scientists don't know what caused a crack in this Greenland glacier" -- Scientist should get to KNOW God..

---
In another "best/worst" list, this time looking at States for Business, GA ranked in the top half.. #21 of 50 best. Guess Mayor Tom-LYING-son's chance at being governor just took a hit, because her projections for Columbus in the next year look  woeful... even awful..

---
From the "unintended consequences" department - Remember Dr. Dao.. the guy dragged off a United Airlines flight?.. Seems that mainscream media has put him under the microscope to find things that will make United Airlines seem more insensitive than it actually is..and opened up a can of worms, so to speak. about Dr. Dao.,,he's is a lung doctor with a taste for gambling, a history of angry outbursts — and a conviction for trading narcotics prescriptions and cash for gay sex in motels. Makes you question his excuse for not wanting to leave civilly when asked.

HuffPOOPOO headline: "6 ways to get paid what you're worth" --Hmm.. Unfortunately none of the ideas given in the HuffPOOPOO article is the most important one.. Make yourself VALUABLE! Hard work, and dependability, and a CAN/WILL do attitude will get you to the top than all the "short cuts" in the world. Of course, colleges don't teach this..

---
L-E headline/story: "RETIREMENT * It’s been fun, but I’m done * BY MIKE OWEN * Now, 31 years later, I’m retiring from the same company that brought me here in 1986, although doing it in a different building just down the street from our old digs." -- It's no doubt that the words of Mike Owen will be missed.. and his shoes will be tough to fill, but.. I do want to point out 2 things.. 1 - is that "this L-E is NOT the "same company" that brought him here 31 years ago.. and he's a big reason the L-E has stayed afloat , and 2 - Mike's columns will be tough to fill.. other longtime L-E writers' works.. not so much.

L-E headline/content: "COMMENTARY * Let the racist speak at Auburn * BY TIM CHITWOOD * Perhaps Auburn University just made an error. * It should have let white nationalist Richard Spencer go on and give a speech Tuesday. * It already rented him the venue, for only $700, apparently — which makes you wonder whether it knew who “Richard Spencer” is – then it revoked that reservation, saying he posed too great a threat to public safety." -- One question.. who IS "Richard Spencer".. I'm not even going to "Google" and find out because obviously he's no one that has attracted my attention.. Obviously Richard Spencer did not make his presence known ahead of time that Auburn would reject him when he requested an arena to speak.. In a good way, this just shows that Auburn speaker policy is worse than UC Berkeley's. At least Berkeley booked contrary speakers and allowed it's mind-numbed  minions to reveal how anti-truth oriented they been taught. I also "feel" that Auburn academia has fired a cannon at a flea.. now, Richard Spencer will be a name on more people's minds than otherwise would have ever given him a first, much less a second, thought.

LIV's L-E "soundoff": "If you think Nancy Pelosi talks with her hands, then you must have your eyes shut when Donald Trump speaks." -- Good grief.. a blind person can hear and decide for him/herself.. but a nblind person cannot see Pelosi give him "the finger" while proising him./her what Pelosi wants him/her to hear.

---
More stupid LIV's L-E "soundoff": " To the people who watch Fox News … how can you watch all of those lies? I’d rather see depressing news that’s true." -- Good grief.. how many oymorons can we poingt out in this revealing testimony to ignorance.. To the writer: How times has have conservative (uh uh uh. RINOs don't count) been allowed unedited expression on CNN, MSNBC, ABC, NBC, or CBS, verses the times Fox has allowed Geraldo, Blob Beckel, Juan Williams, and Jemu Green unfettered, unchallenged moments of opinion?

L-E headline: "Calendar vote, school millage rate on agenda" -- You know, my senior year in high school.. Columbus High 64-65 to be exact, this was our calendar schedule:
1st day of school - September 7th,,
Thanksgiving holidays - Nov 26th and 27th
Christmas holidays - December 18th - Jan 2nd (January 1st, 1965 was on a Saturday so we went back on the following Monday)
Easter Break - dismissal  Wednesday Noon  April 14th , return Monday April 19th
Last Day of school - June 3rd
Graduation Day - June 7th.

We got everything in that families needed we did not "have" air conditioning, and the MCSD did not have the huge August electric bills it has today. You know, in 1990, the MCSD budget was a total of $54,000,000.00, and of that, $9,000,000.00 was for salaries/benefits that the GA DOE deemed "unnecessary" personnel.

---
From the above L-E story: "Asking to speak on the public agenda are Mike Edmondson, Scott Ferguson and Theresa El-Amin. The subject matter was not given." -- Well, we know what Scott Ferguson will say, and we know what Theresa El-Amin will rant about, but who is Mike Edmondson? Besides, isn't it mandatory for a person seeking to speak at a school board meeting to describe his/her purpose?

---
From the same above story: "Students from Wesley Heights Elementary School will lead the Pledge of Allegiance." -- You know, it's sad, but I have to ask, "what are the Wesley Heights Elementary Scholl children going to "pledge allegiance" to?

---
How deep is the advertising budget of Together2017? There are ads every day.. imagine what good Together2017 COULD accomplish if it spent this money on doing community projects rather than promoting individuals and keeping the L-E afloat financially..

---
L-E headline/story: "Mass transit advocates hope highway collapse spurs interest in efforts * IN A 2011 STUDY COMPARING MASS TRANSIT IN THE LARGEST U.S. METROPOLITAN AREAS, THE BROOKINGS INSTITUTION FOUND ONLY 38 PERCENT OF METRO ATLANTA’S WORKING-AGE POPULATION LIVES IN NEIGHBORHOODS WITH ACCESS TO PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION." -- Good grief.. the public transportation systems are the way they are BY Design!.. by Democratic Party politician's design.. they have always been to be a reminder that the Democrats "are doing some projects" for its voter base.. and like all liberal projects, they're financial and desired result  failures.. but they are filled with "good intentions.

From an ad required of the Consolidated Government of Columbus, we find out that the projected costs/budget of the City's public transportation will be $5,215,800.00 split between the City, State, and Federal sources.. It's all subterfuge because all 3 sources are taxpayer funded, but what's not mentioned is: How much revenue is generated by actual USERS of METRA?

From the "look at yourself honestly in a mirror and see that YOU are the problem" department: "L-E guest commentary headline/content: "One miscreant in the age of frustration * BY LLEWELLYN KING * InsideSources.com * We live in an age where we have to take what we are handed by the institutions that are supposed to serve us. We live in an age of frustration. The daily frustration of life has bubbled up in politics, on social media and even in graffiti. * These are some of the institutions of our torment:

• The banks that leave you half an hour on the telephone, pleading to speak to someone — a human being — who might, just might, help you.

• The telephone companies that want you to crawl around the floor, at the behest of directions from a call center in Bangladesh, doing your own repairs.

• The internet providers that will not believe that their systems could need fixing and will only send a technician when all logic and patience is exhausted and someone in the Philippines is satisfied that you do know what you are saying and that English is, in fact, your first language. - and blah, blah, blah.." -- Good grief.. these academic know-nothings insist on issuing rules and regulations that sound good to them, and are filled with good intentions, then complain about them just a noisily (but a bit more piously) than the bulk of the citizens that are paying more for less than quality services.
