From the "is this what the mainscream media feel the Founding Fathers had in mind when creating the 1st Amendment" department - Online story: "The White House Correspondents' Association has announced that comedian Hasan Minhaj will host the organization's annual dinner on April 29. * The Daily Show correspondent said he looks forward to the event and mocked Donald Trump for refusing to attend. * "It is a tremendous honor to be a part of such a historic event even though the president has chosen not to attend this year. SAD! Now more than ever, it is vital that we honor the First Amendment and the freedom of the press," said Minhaj in a statement." -- "mocked Donald Trump....vital we honor the 1st Amendment"? What is being taught in journalism schools! The Founding Fathers were so distressed about King George's suppression of the "the truth" that they made protecting "the truth" the first priority of the Constitution so that "the truth"  could always see the light of day.. Now, it seems, mainscream media itself is more concerned with making up or omitting "the truth" that our Founding Fathers are rolling over in their graves.

Blog note - From Wikipedia we learn: "Minhaj attended the University of California, Davis, where he majored in political science" -- Hmmm.. yeah.. those California schools are really interested in "free speech".. you can tell by the violent protests of ideas from conservative politicians and speakers.

HuffPOOPOO story: "The New York Times reported on Tuesday that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, or ATF, used funds from a secret bank account to pay for outings and other expenses. * According to the media outlet, they include the rental of a $21,000 NASCAR suite, at least partial funding to attend a 2012 tobacco convention in Las Vegas, and donations to a school attended by an agent's daughter." -- Hmmm... 2012? Say.. wasn't that the time frame of the previous president? I wonder how long the NYT sat on this story?

There's a list of the Top 10 "The Worst States for Black Americans"..Poll aspects considered are: 1 - Percentage of black residents; 2 - Black homeownership rate; 3 - Black incarceration rate; and 4 - Black unemployment rate.. Before reading any further,, think of which states you think (feel for you liberals) are the worst ... I can tell you now.. you're probably WRONG.. Alabama was the only state of the "Deep South" on the list.. and it was rated the 10th worst.. Kansas, a "border state" came in 9th, and Virginia,,, home of so many Washington politicos was rated 8th worst.. but the worst 7 will probably leave you shaking your head at the hypocrisy of the Democrat Party and mainscream media. In reverse order: Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Michigan, Ohio; Illinois, Minnesota, and Wisconsin..There is immediate hope for 3 of these.. after decades of being locked in to the Democratic Party, Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin shed their political shackles and voted for Trump!

Online headline: "The No. 1 US city with the biggest opiod problem" -- Oooops, my bad.. I guessed Washington, DC because I thought this was going to be an article about constipation.

From the "did anyone see this printed in the L-E" department - Online headline/story: "SANFORD BISHOP: *  Trump’s budget a bad deal for Georgia’s 2nd Congressional District * U.S. CONGRESSMAN: Budget proposal a signal of what’s important to the Trump administration * Georgia is an agriculture state with 42,000 farms, and agriculture contributes $71 billion annually to the state and national economy. Likewise, Georgia’s 2nd Congressional District, which I have the honor of representing, is an agriculture district, leading the state in peanuts, cotton, pecans, fruits, and vegetables, as well as family-owned timberlands. *  By proposing a cut of over 20 percent to the USDA, it is clear that the current administration does not appreciate the role our agriculture sector plays in sustaining our quality of life" -- Wait a minute.. didn't Trump select Sonny Perdue, former GA governor, as his Secretary of Agriculture? Cannot Bishop see that this makes his district's future look good? Well, what do you expect from a Democrat...

From the "if this makes it into the Columbus L-E, it's because it slipped by the editorial board" department - "Online story: "Donald Trump went into his meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping with several goals, none more important than reducing the trade imbalance between the two powers. * And it seems to have worked. * Beijing will reportedly offer the Trump administration greater market access for financial investments and beef imports in efforts to avoid a trade war between the two countries. * In conceding to some of Trump’s wishes, China is prepared to raise the investment ceiling in the “Bilateral Investment” treaty and plans to end the ban on importing American beef" -- Hmmm.. so Trump has opened the door for more US products and services to be exported to China... hey, Congressman Bishop..be sure to mention this the next time you talk with all the farmers in your district!

I have to say this: Where was Mark Cantrell on Monday? Reported pneumonia does not justify him being absent on a vote on such a critical issue before our School Board. He could have worn a surgical-type mask if he was afraid of passing on germs, but the taxpayers and parents deserved a better effort on his part.. how about everyone who voted for him to be on the school board have a "too sick to vote for him moment"  when his name shows back up on a ballot next time.

You know, if I owned property in Texas on our Mexican border, I would gladly donate the property needed if the government wanted to build a wall that would give more and better protection from border jumpers and drug traders from coming so close to my family.

From the "suspicions pretty much conformed" department - Online story: "Ruth Bader Ginsburg appeared to erroneously dub Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) one of the "women of the Senate" this week. * The 84-year-old Supreme Court justice delivered remarks at Allegheny College in Pennsylvania on Monday as she accepted the Prize for Civility in Public Life, honoring her and late Justice Antonin Scalia. * “Let’s hope members of Congress, the members Allegheny College has already honored — Vice President Joe Biden and Sen. John McCain [R-Ariz.], the women of the Senate, Sens. Dianne Feinstein [D-Calif.] and Lindsey Graham — let’s hope that they and others of goodwill will lead in restoring harmonious work ways,” Ginsburg said during her acceptance speech." -- Hmmm "women of the Senate, Sens. Diane Feinstein [D-Calif] and Lidsey Graham".. Ooops.. Ginsburg "let the cat out of the bag", and even though efforts wee made to convince us that what she said was not what she meant..  we all know what she meant...

---
Online story: "Cook County Associate Judge Raymond Myles was gunned down outside of his home on Monday as he headed to the gym, police said. * The 66-year-old Myles was pronounced dead at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn" -- Hmm.. you know.. the only thing different about the death of Judge Myles is that of the 3,003 plus shooting homicides on the streets of South Chicago, this one has "a name"..
It's easy to see why.. and how, Chicago is ranked... EARNED.. the 3rd worst state for blacks in America!

---
Online headline/sory: "Mountain Dew spill at Michigan plant raises environmental concerns * The soda syrup could have a toxic effect on aquatic life if it got into rivers, lakes or streams." -- Hmmm.. typical mainscream media/liberal response.. worried about the effect of Mountain Dew's syrup on the environment but no concern Pepsi is selling and promoting  this stuff to our teenagers..

---
From the "wanna get rid of Lewis feeling the need for Camelot?" department - L-E headline/story: "JORDAN HIGH SCHOOL * Vocational auto program earns $50,000 at auction * the 1996 Ford Mustang they restored and customized was sold for $50,000 at the Barrett-Jackson Auction in West Palm Beach, Fla. * Even better, the buyer donated the Mustang back to Jordan, so the program can benefit from this real-life lesson even more by having the car auctioned again." -- Hands on. goal-oriented programs like this will make teens eager to learn and become productive members of our community in whatever they do after graduation.. A student driven to participate will never see the inside of an alternative school program.

LIV's L-E "soundoff": "Compare 750,000 renewal energy jobs with 30,000 oil and coal jobs. The Koch brothers need to read “Who Moved My Cheese.”" -- Hmm.. wanna bet that the jobs numbers for
"renewal (sic.. I'm sure writer meant "renewable" but didn't learn to spell it in public school) energy jobs" was pulled out of the air.. but.. history of the failures of Obama's "green energy" businesses funded by taxpayer-provided grants already tells us not to look at many of these jobs as lifelong careers.

From the "just part of what's wrong with the justice system" department - L-E story: "The 34-year-old man accused of stabbing a woman outside of a Columbus Starbucks was pacing back in forth in front of the business before the attack, according to testimony Tuesday morning in Recorder’s Court. * Hannibal Herman Chambers pleaded not guilty to aggravated assault and possession of a knife during the commission of a crime. He was ordered held in the Muscogee County Jail under bonds totaling $21,000. * Judge Julius Hunter ordered that Chambers be mentally evaluated by a county physician after Columbus public defender Robin King requested it. " -- Good grief.. what was witnessed as a an obviously violent crime is going to have to "jump through hoops" to be rectified.. Of course the "stabber" was mentally disturbed.. at the time.... it's not normal to want to irrationally run up to anyone and start knifing them (unless of course, you're a dedicated follower of Islam), but when court proceedings are used to stifle quick justice, criminals have no fear of committing crimes when they know they will not be held accountable for their actions.

L-E headline/story: "ZIP LINE EXPANSION * Construction starts on second phase for full-circle experience * The cities of Phenix City and Columbus, as well as Uptown Whitewater Management LLC, each get 2.5 percent of the cost of a trip. Gilbert said." -- This another "river business" that falls under the "non-sales-taxable" umbrella like WhiteWater does. Does everyone know that there are no sales taxes collected from WhiteWater users.. Oh, there is a  "fee", but that fee does not come close to the 8% sales taxes that others pay for entertainment (I just had to pay $1.12 per $14.00 ticket to watch my granddaughter dance at her dance school recital at the RiverCenter last week). And the MCSD, nor the T-SPLOST, nor the Public Safety LOST get zero dollars designated from the "fees".
