CORRECTION: I had a conversation with my friend Chief Boren over the weekend.. I think Columbus is MOST FORTUNATE to have Chief Boren heading our CPD.. always have, and he countered my resource concerning the low number of police officers I mentioned as being on patrol one early morning shift last week. ..We talked about 15 minutes, and I felt reassured that more than adequate motor and support staff were on duty at that time, and the motorcycle personnel went out once the sun rose. Sorry my info was not 100% correct..





For the record.. I think most of our City employees do a bang up job considering the political pressures dictated by the politics of the elected administration.

Last Thursday, a joint celebration between Columbus and Ft Benning for a yearlong kick-off the 100th Anniversary of the establishment of Ft Benning was held behind the Library, the Government Service Center, and in front of the new Rainey-McCullers Fine Arts Academy. A military band, a school band and choir, the Mayor, the Commanding General of Ft Benning and other military personnel, a multitude of City Council and Administration, local citizens, and numerous local media representatives were present.. I even saw a couple of L-E personnel there.... yet.. no mention of the gathering was mentioned in The L-E..I guess a 1:00 event is to late in the day to make it to print .. or maybe it just wasn't important enough to the L-E.

Even worse, will words be "slurs" if they are said by members within a group or only non-group members? "Zero Tolerance" for words is worse than "Fahrenheit 451". In fact.. this is worse than Dean Wormer's "double secret probation" of a fraternity in "Animal House". This is worse than Hunger Games... oh,, and when will it be a "slur" to look like you're thinking about saying a "slur" word?
